I've wanted to start an RP for some time, though, timidness, laziness, and other things occupying my time have given me pause. I think I'm ready though... at least I hope, and I've had ideas juggling around in my head for a while now, craving release.
This RP takes place in Furrae, so there are the same beings/creatures inhabiting this RP, beings, demons, angels, cubi, etc.
On the setting of this RP:
This RP takes place in a place called Atharra. Atharra isn't a continent by itself, though it is still a large place. Atharra is mostly populated by Beings, Cubi, Demons, and Angels. There are a few Mythos and Were mixed into civilized population but they're not a very common sight. Other creatures can be found but generally inhabit areas outside of civilized lands.
Most of the population in Atharra is spread within several small countries, Thularia, Narukh, Astarea, and Ithralia. There are some settlements that are not within these countries but are usually sparsely populated and are somewhat rare.
Thularia: Thularia is located in the far northeast. Thularia is populated entirely by beings, and is entirely intolerant of creature races. Creatures in Thularia are killed on sight, and beings that show sympathy towards creatures are not well received either. Thularia is the only country with a professional military, having a large standing fighting force that is specially trained to fight and kill creatures they encounter. Their military runs their government, a ruling council of generals handles political affairs. Thularia often sends patrol groups out of at least 10 well trained beings to keep it's lands secure, and sometimes these patrols go out into other countries to try and 'purge' creatures they find. Thularia's capital, located at the far northeast of their country, is the most heavily fortified location in Atharra, and would take a highly dedicated and powerful force to take it down. They have been pushing back on their border to Narukh since their inception, and they are active in other countries as well spreading their will.
Astarea: Astarea is one of the most developed locations in the land, both technologically and sociologically. It is by far the most diverse of the countries, and the most tolerant. The population is predominantly Beings, though there are a large population of Demons, Angels, and Cubi within. There are also a few Mythos and Were mixed into the population as well. It also has one of the most effective law enforcement systems, the Astarean Peacekeepers do an excellent job at enforcing order amongst the population. They're also active in deterring those from Narukh and Thularia from causing problems, though do so with mixed success. As a result, Astarean citizens often think of those on the outside world as nothing more than uncultured barbarians. Astarea's capital, often referred to as "The Shining City", is the largest in Atharra, with a very diverse population. Astarea is located in the southwest of Atharra.
Narukh: Narukh is by far the smallest of the countries in terms of population, and Narukh's capital can barely be called a city, it is more of a place where political units come together on occasion. In theory, a council of powerful families is supposed to rule Narukh, but in practice, no one actually listens to them unless they have the power to force everyone in the country to obey their will, which doesn't happen often. Narukh is largely populated by small clans of demons. Narukh has very little in the way of law enforcement, running on the demon philosophy of power over all else, so domestic violence is quite common compared to other locations. There is a small population of angels and cubi, though they are not usually trusted and their numbers are few. Beings tend to avoid Narukh at all costs, as they tend to be killed soon after entering. Being settlements near Narukh's territory are also tense places, as demons have a tendency to come over and start causing mayhem. Narukh is located to the northewest of Atharra.
Ithralia: Ithralia is the largest country in terms of population and territory, and has the largest concentration of it's people within cities. Ithralia is located in the eastern side of Atharra, and shares borders with Narukh to it's west, Thularia to it's northwest, and Astarea to it's southwest. Ithralia is mostly populated by beings, though there are a few creatures mixed within, however, they are not well trusted or received, but are not usually outright killed unless they actively cause problems. Ithralia isn't so much of a country as it is a set of cities and states that just happen to be geographically near each other. The general Ithralian public lives in a state of near anarchy, and attempts at unification are often met with disaster. As such, people have no one to depend on for defense save mercenary forces, adventurers, and mercenaries, etc. Crime rates are quite high, and domestic (if it can be called that) violence happens frequently. Standard of living varies throughout the place, it's usually lowest in northwestern or southeastern, but generally better in northeastern, where city-states have something approaching a stable, if rather static government. General tendency however is towards anarchy.
Thularian patrols often go through this country as well, often murdering creatures who happen to come across them. Most noteworthy is that a large concentration of Thularian soldiers inhabit Ithralia's border with Astarea, often rushing in and slaying creatures that live there, as well as preventing Astarean creatures from moving into Ithralia. Adventurers however, tend not to cross Thularians and many look up to their discipline and skill. However, the Thularians seem to have no intention on annexing Ithralian territories.
I do have a lot more information on these countries in my notes, so, I'd be open to answering questions about them. I didn't post all of it since I didn't want to cause a massive information overload to those who would be interested in playing.
The story thus far...
It's going to be a long, cold winter...
A snowstorm raged around the Whistling Willow inn, the place providing warmth and comfort to those who come within, to stop for the night and resume their struggles the next day. The place was quiet, a calming sort of quiet, a relaxed sanctuary to contrast fierce winds on the outside. Here they stopped for the day, some went upstairs to rest, some stayed in the main room, to tend to themselves for what was to come.
But in a flash, the relaxed mood was violated, as beams of light penetrated the Willow, and the place started to collapse upon itself, and allow the vicious storm of the exterior to come on inside. Panic ensued, but only for a moment, as blasts of energy flew across the Willow. Some were already asleep at the time, briefly awoken only to lose consciousness less than a second later. Others fell into darkness quickly, their last sight was of themselves, wounded, and the feel of the cold as their eyes failed and their nerves went numb. And after a few seconds, the Willow was silent once again, the furious winds blowing blood stained snow across the landscape.
The next morning, an Angel who had survived the events that occurred, pulled some of those within out from under the rubble. He tended to them with what power he had, healing their wounds, and laying them down in the snowy landscape. He closed his wings around himself, both to protect himself from the snowy weather, and to look into the clear snow, lamenting the loss of those he could not save. He paced over, looking over each of the wounded, and waited for them to arise...
Onto character creation:
I try not to be too picky, and I don't really care what specific format you use your character, as long as I can read it without making my head spin, it's probably going to be fine. There are however, some things I want, What species your character is, a biography of some sort, a physical description, a personality, what possessions they start out with, and what abilities, strengths, and weaknesses they have.
I would also like to request that players select a color (not necessarily your character's favorite color). This would be used if I need to write something in a post that only a select character would notice, like a cubi's mind reading, or special knowledge that a character might have.
On a side note, I am not going to allow people to play undead characters, I apologize for this inconvenience but some plot points about why your characters are special to the plot wouldn't make sense on an undead. Fae would also be problematic, as would godlike powerful characters. (no tri-wing cubi please!)
Oh, and your characters are supposed to be the ones arising after being healed, you start in a semi-unconscious state, waking up from the rough ordeal.
On Rules/Playing.
Really, this should be just common sense. Don't godmod, make your posts legible, and I think you'll be fine.

Garis Ahnasazi
Age: 327
German Shepherd/Wolf incubus
height: 6 foot 2 inches+ 18 foot wingspan
weight: 200 pounds
Appearance: Black overcoat, with a silver undercoat, his back and tail are jet black, his face is black on top, with silver across his throat, under his eyes, and across his cheeks... the black seems to give an almost raccoon mask appearance across his eyes. (look at my avatar for an idea of the face and colors) his eye's are gray, and appear very catlike.
He's thin and muscular, with very predatory lines in both his head and body. His wings are large and feathered, matching his fur patterns... His hands are very human, though clawed, and his feet are padded, and therefore he never wears shoes. His clan symbol is a snake crawling up a scythe, similar to a healers symbol, though far more sinister, it is located on inside of his left forearm, it is bright red, and difficult to hide. His emotions tastes are confusion and pain, and when he's hungry, he has no problems getting what he wants.
He uses magic as more of a distraction than actual combat skills knowing some basic fire, ice, and storm (Wind and Lightning) based spells. He prefers to shapes his wings into bladed or pointed weapons, and the only physical weapon he carries is a long, triangular dagger, in a sheath across his back... He fights fast, and vicious, wearing no armor, and using the knife defensively. The bladed tentacles he uses are no stronger or sharper than a standard steel longsword, but they allow him to attack from several directions at once, making him a very dangerous adversary in 1 on 1, or it allows Garis to fight several opponents at once. His largest limitation is that the concentration required to create and maintain the blades allows him to only make and control 2 bladed tentacles at a time. Pointy weaponed tentacles are easier, he can create and control 4 of them.
Among his other skills, he's naturally stealthy, especially at night due to his dark fur, despite his canine features, his eye's seem more feline than anything else, adding to his night hunting abilities. he's intuitive, and picks up on the basic working of things fairly easily. His easy going nature makes him somewhat charismatic and easy to get along with, but because it's the way he acts naturally, it makes him more or less oblivious to it. When he gets time, he does enjoy both cooking and reading, but because food is optional and not mandatory, it makes cooking an even rarer treat for him when he does cook. As for books, when he can find them, he enjoys them, but for an adventurer, they are usually a rare, and expensive luxury.
For clothing he usually just wears a pair of black, baggy, cotton pants. Though for more formal occasions he's been seen in a black tunic with forest green trim and matching pants.
Relatively young by cubi standards, He has a tendency to be reckless, arrogant, and unpredictable... Having a lighter personality, he is a bit of a joker, and almost always easy to get along with. Depending on his whim, he may or may not have his head wings exposed. Not driven by greed, if he goes on an adventure, it's usually because it sounds like it's going to either be exciting or fun.
He has a tendency to be a bit of a showoff, and enjoys hanging out in pubs and inns. He has what many would describe as ADD with women, though that would be putting it lightly.... To those who know him, what he does and how he acts can best be described as a leaf on the wind.
Possessions in list form: Pants, a small pack with his tunic and formal pants, a water bladder, and his triangular dagger in it's sheath
Green
before I got started, I wanted to ask what sort of technology level was available. I'm assuming it's a usual D&D type fantasy late middle ages early Renaissance type system. If it isn't, I might want to make a few modifications to my character.
Name : Kedered, scion of House Aldoraethar.
Age: 283
Species Jaguar/Incubus.
Physical description. Five foot eleven inches tall, slight build, although not to the point of emaciation. Both sets of wings are leathery, and covered with the same sort of spot pattern that his main body is. His back wings stretch out to slightly more than arms length (about eight feet) His headwings, when visible, are roughly shoulder width. He has no discernable cephalic hair. His eyes are a brilliant emerald green, with large irises. He has large hands. All of this is his base form. He is quite adept at shapeshifting and can assume almost any vaguely humanoid form. He likes to dress expensively, in silk if he can get it. He prefers dark colors, and uses magic to keep his clothes clean. His clan symbol looks like a blue pierced circle, and is in the palm of his right hand. He usually claims it is a tattoo or wears gloves to hide it.
Personality. Confident bordering on arrogance, cold and aristocratic in demeanor, a very very good poker face and poker mind, generous to a fault, and obsessively protective towards his friends and followers. He irrationally loathes all Thularians and will go out of his way to inconvenience the nation. He has a very, very long memory, and always repays a debt. (This goes both ways. He won't rest until he gets even with someone who slighted him) He is usually solemn and serious, almost grave, although he cracks the occasional joke as a means to break ice. He almost never laughs. He looks down slightly on non-'cubi, and more so on beings, although not enough to keep himself from dealing with them. He finds the necessity of eating and sleeping distasteful, and if travelling with people who know he is a 'cubi, will dispense with them altogether.
History. The Aldoraethar family was once high nobility in the lands that are now Thularia. After the Beings took over the nation, his ancestors were evicted, and spent most of their time hanging around the borders of the old empire, trying to raise the force needed to retake their ancestral home. Never quite getting it, they managed to squeak by as teachers of magic and managers of the estates of others. Kedered is the last heir of the line, his father and younger brother being killed in a raid while living in Ithralia. He has trained in all the arts that his father assumed a nobleman should know, rhetoric, mathematics, leadership, magic, and some basic fighting ability.
After the attack, he served a few stints in mercenary bands, generally taking a pay cut for the promise of a fight inside Thularia, although their discipline meant that few raids succeeded. One day found him in the Whistling Willow inn, trying to recruit a few Angels or demons to take the fight to Thularia once again.
Abilities. Kedered's magical training is broad but a bit shallow. He can cast a wide array of basic spells, from creating flaming weapons to physical enhancements to strength and speed, to magically influencing people he talks to into thinking he's more handsome and intelligent than he actually is. The sword spell he is especially adept with, and can cast it as quickly as one could draw a steel blade from a hip scabbard. He has trouble projecting magical energy far from his own body however, and he's incapable of sending a spell more than about 15 feet from his hands. His magic is innate and largely internal, and he rarely needs to vocalize his spells, although concentration is always necessary and hand motions usually so. He is a reasonable swordfighter and bowshot, about what one would expect from a career soldier. His emotional affinity is for awe in specific, fear in a more general sense.
Possessions. Longbow, thirty arrows, slung across his shoulders. A jeweled dagger, tucked into his boot. A backpack with a bedroll, some food, water, and a change of clothes. Flint and steel in a belt pouch, along with a reasonably high amount of cash, kept in silver and small gemstones. (it should be enough to pay for personal upkeep for about 4 months, but I don't know your currency systems) A blue silk shirt, with cuts for his wings in the back, and black, tight form fitting pants, and some plain underwear. (Worn)
EDIT- Color Blue
EDIT #2, added a tiny twinge to the personality and the location of his clan symbol.
Edit#3 After slapping my forehead, I realized I didn't have the emotional affinity. It's there now, under ability.
Edit#4, changed the personality line about being quick to anger. The more I play him, the more I realize how stiff he is.
2 Already, that's a good sign I take it. :)
Oookay,
Basilisk2150: Character approved, welcome aboard.
Corgatha Taldorthar: Character approved, though... could you select a color? Just in case I need to say something in a post that only your character would notice (like something about Thularians,.. They're going to be one of the major antagonists in this RP and I might end up using it often).

Well, technology has slight differences depending on the location, though I intended for the level of technology to be at least similar to DMFA canon, for weapons, that largely means swords and bows, aka leave the M16 at home. For civilian technology, I figure that most of it is a little sub-modern, phones exist, as do computers, refridgerators, standard bathrooms, (I struggle to come up with proper reasoning for that :/), though I'm probably going to restrict things like cell-phones, and probably vehicles as well. Generally, weapons technology is a little more advanced in Thularia, and Astarea has slightly better civilian technology. I don't think the civilian tech is going to be *too* big of a deal, and I think your character's setup is fine for the setting, albeit, might want heavier clothing, this RP does take place in the winter. (Though most cubi probably have some natural resistance to extreme weather conditions.)

I've always been confused as to why practical technology is sub-modern while weapons technology is still stuck in the Iron Age :B
... with the heavier clothing, are you talking to me, or corgatha?
as for an effective excuse about the weapons... alchemy and chemistry were shunned by the general public, especially non-magic users, and therefore the attempt to create gunpowder became stagnant. the focus was shifted towards the 'perfection' of the weapon systems they had instead of inventing new ways to kill people, both reasonable, and logical...
taken further, if the combustion engine isn't invented, there's nothing to say that electricity hasn't been... for example, the ancient egyptians actually invented the first battery, and had they evolved to be the dominant ancient force, instead of the greeks the world would be a whole lot different... and that's all just based on human history in the real world...
If their societies are in any way modled on humans, weapon technology tends to advance and diffuse faster than almost anything else........ I remember reading old stuff about John Smith and the whole Pocahantas story. The natives were really far more interested in guns and cannons than they were in beads, trinkets and even other non-killing tools.

Because it makes for a better story. Narrativium, you know.

You would think this would be true, *especially* in a world with highly bloodthirsty creatures out to eat beings (and devour their souls) in their sleep, by all sense, every being in a dangerous area should have a shotgun with them at all times. Astarea is probably safer in this regard, but considering all the problems they receive from Narukh and from Thularians...
Yeah, it doesn't really make a lot of sense to me either. :/
But... I'll live. Some of the technological restrictions are used for balancing issues, especially in the demons vs beings area, particularly in the case of Thularians. Soldiers with machine guns are a force to be reckoned with and I doubt that young and highly unstable demons would be that much of an issue if they could have their faces blown off by any random being. Their advantage is supposed to be better organization, discipline, and clout, which goes against the raw natural power that creatures have.
Oh, on the warm clothing, I was actually referring to Corgatha, though... reading it over I guess it's alright, especially if Cubi (as Abel put it), are element resistant. I would assume this would confer some resistance to the cold weather, and I suppose if all else fails they could just thicken their fur.
Kedered is too proud anyway. Unless it's actually dangerous, he'd rather shiver than get a warmer cloak than what he thinks is necessary. But I assume he'd be able to warm himself with a spell or just give himself thicker fur.
the mental image i had with your comment about the thickening of the fur is hilarious... I can totally see garis just poof up, going from his lean wolfish self, to something more like a sheep dog or a shiatsu... with people watching... he just looks over and says "what?!... it's effing cold out here"
Hmm... I may be interested in this RP. If so, I'll probably be using either Karazkt or the Mechangel.
My submission for this little endeavor:
Name: Tyrian XuLedo
Species: Fox Angel
Gender: Male
Age: 950*
Physical Description: Very vibrant, snowy white fur and feathered wings, with black markings (stripe from forehead to nose, tail tip, tops of ears, tips of wing feathers, and underside of paws). He has short, grayish-white hair and bright, intense violet eyes which glow in the dark. His physical frame is slightly below average. He stands 1.778 meters (5ft 10in) in height.
Attire: Tyrian wears functional over fashionable. He is currently wearing a heavy black shirt (short sleeves), tough, baggy cobalt blue cotton pants, and thick black long coat with gold piping that splits up the back to accommodate his tail (three decorative gold bands stripe across where the split ends). He tends to roll up the coat to his elbows. His shirt and coat easily accommodate his wings, and if the wings are concealed, the slits also disappear.
Background: Tyrian was born to a wealthy and noble family. Being of such a station normally requires one devote his efforts to becoming a Knight and a warrior. He scoffed at such boring pursuits and instead buried his head in books and arcane tomes. He sought acceptance to the Academy of Sorcery, and after much practical and theoretical tests, he was granted scholarship. His family begrudgingly allowed his choice of path, insisting that he also learn the ways of administration and governing.
Tyrian is known to suffer from wanderlust and a need for what can only be described as adventure. The many years he was forced to devote to the study of the Arcane, compounded his occasional bouts upon itself. After his graduation, he taught briefly, both privately and at the Academy. His need to get out into the world prevented him from settling down, forming long-term relationships or acquiescing to his father's arranged marriages.
Abilities: Tyrian is a highly trained sorcerer and Elemental Arcanist. He himself is highly magical and in possession of an unusually strong connection to magical energies. He casts magic from all traditional western elements (Earth, Air, Fire, and Water) and any combination of the four. His mastery makes him a creature of the elements, allowing him to feed off its energy, resist its effects, and transform partially into an elemental entity.
His focus on the elements has lead to the disuse of his natural Angel Light magic. He still possesses it, but it is very basic and he won't likely employ it.
Though he was trained in the use of martial weapons, he was only really any good with Staves and Short bladed swords. He is equally at home with using either hand, and as such, he typically dual wields short swords. Despite this, he is only an average weapon combatant.
His arcane training has disciplined his thoughts and forced his mind to operate on the arcane language itself. His mind is a maze of magical formulae, wards, and theorems. This rather unique mental format makes his mind difficult to read, understand, or affect with mental abilities.
Possessions: Clothes (two full sets plus what he currently has on). Light mesh armor typically worn under clothes. Dual, single-edged, slightly curved short bladed swords (equivalent to a wakizashi or sabre). Elemental Amulet – this object is a strong magical implement that acts as a focus and nexus for the elemental channeling he performs. Travelling pack. Bedroll. Food rations (though he need not eat anymore). Small pouch with a reasonable amount of money (1 year of personal upkeep). Small Alchemy kit. Small Healers kit. Finely crafted ashen-gray, Rowan Staff topped by a scintillating gemstone of unknown type (unknown to all but him and earth elemental based creatures).
Color: Red
*He will live nearly ten times his average life span due to his form being infused with elemental energies.
Edit: I forgot the staff! Here I say he can use staves and I forgot to place it in his possessions.
soo, we've got myself as the sort of hit and run/assassin style character, azzy as the mage, and corgatha as the sort of tank/brawler/multipurpose fighter
interesting group so far...

I can fight too... somewhat... he's a bit more like an Eldrich Warrior than a pointy hat Wizard.
Similar story here actually. Kedered's major hand to hand fighting technique is to use a flaming sword and other close range magical effects...........
Garis' use of magic is more, throw a fireball at your face, and impale you on a spiked tentacle while your distracted... either that or if he's fighting several people at once, kill or maim as many targets as possible, so that he can then have an easier fight as he gets worn out... soo say in a 5 on one, he'll stab at 4 with the tentacles, and shoot a lightning spark at the 5th... run up, and brake the leg of the one who got hit with the spell, from there, whittle down the numbers 1 at a time...
This seems to be progressing along nicely. We're at 5 now I believe, assuming techmaster-glitch decides to play, and counting PMed interest.
I'm probably going to be busy most of today(Thursdays are usually like that for me), though I'll probably start up the (IC) thread tomorrow morning, though I probably won't have anything major happen until after sign-up week, introductions not included, of course.
I'm in.
Name: Raffiele Thom'sen
Age: 142
Gender: Male
Height: 6 feet
Weight: 189 pounds
Eye color: Cadmium red
Species: Demon, hyena
Physical description: Athletic and moderately muscled, Raffielle possesses several characters typical of his specific kin and clan: a segmented, prehensile tail, beastlegged, two leathery wings with a 12 foot span, and flesh as dark as pure pitch. When viewed from a distance, his form almost resembles a shadow given depth, but up close, he appears rough and leathery. His body also lacks any facial features aside from the eyes and (occasionally) mouth.
Backstory: The Thom'sen lineage is an extended family of demons descending from a single, obscure figure known simply as The Great Progenitor, a demon cursed for murdering fellow clan members and voraciously consuming their flesh and bones. With the stigma of being outcasts and cannibals, they took to living underground and in isolated settlements on the fringes of Narukh.
As a Thom'sen Fury, Raffiele has seen much in the way of combat over the years and has served as both a raider and protector, keeping the more intelligent and civic-minded half of his kin (known colloquially as Scribes) from falling to would-be assassins in Narukh. In his decades as a bodyguard, he has learned much of the local norms and political climate, can reliably guess the consequences of a given policy or action, and is only mystified by the densest of bureaucratic institutions.
Unlike most Furies in his family, Raffiele stepped down from a life of wanton destruction and family servitude to become a private enforcer in the smaller creature towns of Astarea. While rolling through a being village on the fringe of Ithralia and scalping every man in sight was a fun hobby after adolescence, he felt it lacked challenge; having standoffs with raiding Thularians, on the other hand, proved both enjoyable and fulfilling.
Personality: Though undisciplined, Raffiele is a particularly "straight" demon and will dispense with formalities in a curt and serious manner. He harbors no particular ill-will towards any species or notions of vengeance, but tends to avoid any discussion on the subject. Earning his ire isn't difficult, but it certainly isn't something that happens by accident.
Abilities: Raffiele has a particular gift for regeneration and thick skin, allowing him to endure heavy blows and recover from broken/dismembered limbs much more quickly than other creatures. His knack for close-quarters assault make him a natural giver and taker of damage, and few people of similar strength can withstand his zealous shredding for long.
However, he is far from immortal. Though physically endowed, Raffiele is mystically stunted and has no real defense against the magic arts other than "be hit and hope to tough it out." Even his physical hardiness has its limits, as a Thom'sen is instantly dispatched with a headshot or decapitation from any sharp or shooty weapon.
Possessions: Old, tattered cloth robes and scarf. Pipe tomahawk and hunting knife. Haversack. Flint and tinder. Assorted silver and gold stamped coins.
Color: Yellow
IC thread is up, your characters are free to wake up whenever.
Though..., I would imagine your characters might not be fully coherent after they do so.
Kobra, what ddoes this Angel you mention look like?
You'll get a good look at him in my next post.
Edit: I'm terrible terrible terrible terrible with physical descriptions. :/, might take a bit of time.
Well, now that everyone who has a character is up, do you think I should advance to the next plot point? Sign-up week is still open, and of course, it is easiest on my end anyways to have characters join up at the Willow, and as far as unconscious characters go, Kassin wouldn't leave until everyone was up and well. I of course would likely leave this open beyond the sign up week, but that might come with delays in fitting characters in on the storyline and I don't want to have that happen. On the other end, that doesn't mean I can't fit in new characters, and standing around a wrecked inn with nothing happening might get boring at least somewhat quickly.
Thoughts RPers?
We can move on at everyone's leisure I think.
i'm ready to move on whenever...
Ditto.
Let's roll then.
There's another reason why "mundane" technology is so developed and "weapon" technology isn't. Creatures likely see the former as harmless, while some one persuing the latter is likely to find their soul stolen, eaten, and their body turned into a lamp. Hense Jyrras' comment "Of course this one isn't for farming... it's for mining!" Creatures likely find things like electricity, the printing press, and what not as largely harmless. Heck, if it allows more beings, some creatures might well invest in such technologies. After all, it increases the food source. However, things like guns, tanks, and cannons are far more likely to draw the ire of Creatures. Hense why Lorenda would be so upset with Jyrras inventing weapons that would threaten demons like her. Beings have swords and spells to kill each other... why would they need things like a gatling gun or cannon too? So the arc of innovation, rather than progressing in cycles of war and peace, likely follows the arc of "Don't piss off the creatures."

Actually, mundane technology can be even more deadly than weaponry will ever be. Telephones, computers, and other tools of communication. A real life example of this is the Franco-Prussian war, where French rifles could easily out-range their opponent's weaponry and were far more powerful, yet, the improved communications, logistics, combined with professional military officers, easily managed to beat forces with superior arms. Direct confrontations are only one part of war, and it's important not to underestimate everything else that goes into one.
And of course, it even makes less sense in this world, especially when you consider Thularia, a place which is in an active state of war against every creature in Atharra. Since they've been fighting creatures for about 100 years (I didn't specify that, but anyways), one would figure they would at least have some advances as far as guns go. Yet, I didn't give it to them, partly because I wanted a field where raw-power met organization and logistical efficiency. Realistically, they would have developed guns while ago, especially if they have access to electricity, phones, etc.
Even if Thularia didn't exist, and like states didn't either, it still wouldn't make sense. Beings would still be in a threatened position in most cases. And that's another thing, creatures tend not to organize well, and I doubt that they could stop every Being from attempting to create weaponry that would help even the playing field. Even if Beings were actively trying to overthrow them, I would think, understanding Demon psychology, that they would be too busy with internal struggles and trying to feed their own ego-bubbles to actually pose a threat. I suppose a few creatures could try independently to stop them, but I assume that if Beings are putting effort into advanced weapons research (aka guns), that they would have some safeguards to try and deter random creatures from causing problems.
About the only place I could see this being realistic is in Astarea, where creatures and Beings live in relative harmony. Problems still exist, as to be expected, and not entirely from hostile outside forces either. Still, one would assume, since they are the most advanced, to have such things, if not for Being peacekeepers to help deter troublemakers.
If alchemy, and chemistry were taboo, even to non-magic users, it explains a lot more than you'd expect... because without them, gunpowder would have been invented through experimentation... so yea, no gunpowder, no guns, no guns, no real worries... and if all the lands distrust to disdains those who claim to be chemists and alchemists it means that the art of making gunpowder never came about... so yea, you can have something like
"gunpowder was invented, but quickly made more or less useless as magic users would blow it up whenever stockpiled... and over the years, the art of making it was lost as chemistry and alchemy became taboo professions... "
Just to note, I (as a DM) have no intention of letting your characters go their separate ways... something always goes wrong. >:3
I'm somewhat ill, just going to be making placeholder posts until I recover a little.
sorry to hear that corg... hope you get better soon
FWIW, chemistry underlies much of physics. You can't make a telephone without knowing how to make pure copper...
Just to note, I made a small edit to my post... I got a bit confused about one point of Atharra's geography :/, it's been corrected.
Speaking of which, I added a map of Atharra to the first post... it's a bit crude but it should give at least a somewhat clear picture as to what this place looks like.
yo, tipod, your kinda autoing the combat, as well as ignoring the fact that there are a pair of pointed, spear like tentacles heading in your direction....
I'm still kinda adjusting to what forum RPs do and don't consider auto-ing :/ My bad. Lemme fix it.
yea, i was in the process of working something out with kobra...
Generally, I think the rule of thumb for RP-combat is that the DM determines what attacks hit/miss. I don't think that there should be *too* many live combat situations in the RP, at least not ones that don't take more than a post to beat your target senseless. Still, usually combat goes along the lines of 'you swing, DM determines outcome.' I need to head to class shortly though, I'll probably have a more-full explanation up later. Generally, something like, 'I cast a magic missile, he explodes', is a no-no. I'll sort this out when I get back.
soo, what do we do now that people have already posted?
Throw up our hands in disgust and attack each other randomly? I dunno. My bad. I saw everyone posting and thought I should get in on it.
don't worry about it, what i had worked out with kobra was that i'd be reacting, pin her to the ground, and then things happen from there...
Works for me :V
want me to post what we had planned out, and then you guys edit your posts from there?
Sure
I'm cool with that.
alright, i have the original plan up now...
Post is up, so congratulations are in order for managing to sort that mess out, good going guys. :)
Anyways, I suppose we can resume now.
High five team :)
Okay, um... wow, you all have like no lives or responsibilities do you? This really needs to be handled better, as the whole scene just swallowed my character. If there is going to be a consistent, rigorous posting frenzy like this, please let me know now and I will withdraw from the RP so as not to bog it down with someone who is on a kind of fixed schedule.
I just went along because I've had a slow week :<
Edit: Though now that you mention it, it has been a bit excessive. Eesh, I need to step back.
actually, i was just studying yesterday, and while taking a break, everyone was on... yea, if i didn't have an exam yesterday, i would have been doing other things as is, i know i'll be slowing down considerably for a couple of weeks....
Sorry Azlan, I'll try to keep things more 'under control' in the future, I'm still getting the hang of the whole 'RP-GM' bit. It's a lot different than DMing D&D for sure.
Is it ok with everyone if I have Kedered suggest, and then auto the group going inside?
There's pretty much little else for them to do besides hunker down, so once each character finishes whatever he's doing I'm fine with moving on to shelter.
i think azlan might have a little more, maybe not.... and i've still got the demoness sort of impaled at the moment, though trying to get that sorted out...
Speaking of her, Kedered has a few more questions he'd like answers to, but that can wait until they get inside.
Moving to shelter would be good.
Ok, I'm going to do a slight auto. If someone has a problem, yell at me here, and I'll edit.
Edit: quick question, what do you suppose garis is doing durring all of this, as you forgot to mention him removing the other tentacle, or healing the wound, is he still attached to her, or do we go with the assumption that he's actually healed both wounds now and is free to look around?
I was going with the assumption that he cauterized the wounds and is free to wander around. Sorry if I didn't make that clear. I'm trying to narrate through Kedered, and his perceptions are a bit odd.
alright, that's what i was hoping, but since it wasn't mentioned one way or the other, i thought i'd bring it up
Again, kind of a long post. If somoene has any objections to what I did with Nicha, bring em up here, and I'll truncate the IC post.
Edit. Pssst. It's "Kedered" no "N". And what makes Garis think the other 'Cubi can't handle his end of a fight?
sorry about the misspelling... as for the question about not being able to handle himself... Garis is far more worried about Nicha more than the fight... but if a fight does brake out, Kedered would horribly outnumbered and possibly killed if there's 3 or more additional demons... basically, the whole comment was garis trying to rationalize a reason, beyond his own physical attraction to the girl, to go outside...
Has anyone seen Tipod in a while?
um... i thought i saw him on the other day, but who knows, i've been checking in for like 2 minute stints while taking a break from studying. so far all i know, it could have been something stuck in my head from my anat quiz tomorrow... now if you need to know about anatomy stuff... i can do that right now, figuring out where people are or whats up... not so much...
now if i had to take a guess... i'd say he's probably busy with work, or a little sick... the flu seems to be running rampant this year
Schoolwork's been pretty heavy over the last few days, particularly calculus. If I'm ever slow, then it's safe to assume I've got a project/homework taking up my focus.
I understand entirely.
At any rate, I'll probably move time along a bit faster in the next post, going to night time and then to the next morning if no interactions occur. I'll probably have a post up later today, maybe 7:00, but it depends on how my SE meeting goes.
Edit: I'll probably update tomorrow, turns out one of my partners didn't do their share and I ended up getting stuck with it. :/.
after re-reading the last few posts, i have the urge to have garis call dibs on not watching kassin... not quite his character yet hilarious.... I'm also guessing it's pretty well assumed that he's going to be playing watch for the demoness anyways...

Slipping back into D&D... you would be the last one I would want on watch with the demoness. We are at the genesis point of a group here. In terms of character perspective, you are developing a closer bond to her than the rest of the "party" and Ty is very aware of this even if he doesn't show it.
Thought this might be important: Ty's mind is very alien as he thinks more like an elemental being than an angel. As such, I will not be doing many inner monologues or "thought" posts unless he deliberately goes out of his way to think normally... in which case, I will post it and I consider that fair game for the mind readers.
Well now why haven't I noticed this thread before? Silly me.
Are we still open to characters?
This RP still is open. Feel free to PM a character to me or to post one here if you want to join up.
Getting a new character into the group would take a bit of creativity on my part, meeting up at another wrecked inn gets a bit old after a second, much less third one. I'll see what I can do though, in such a case.
Someone drops out of the sky? Caught by a band of gypsys? Tied to a tree and left to rot? On the run from a band of goblins, and dashes past/into the camp?
The possibilities are endless...
Yes, but how many of them are plausible? With our party, we'd probably mug and leave half of those possibles in a ditch somewhere.
Double post, but this one is semi-justified (I think) Kobra, you might want to put in a line of asterisks or something to indicate that you're changing the perspective of narration. The jump from Kassin to Nicha was a bit disorienting.
I edited the post, did that help?
Corgatha, with our party, we'd probably be playing soccer with their severed head in most of the situations llearch suggested... lets just be honest and admit we've got an eclectic group of strangers, ranging from bizarre, to down right psychotic...

But if we're doing this for the money, there are far simpler ways of relieving passers-by of their possessions without resorting to slaughter. Think of it this way. If you mug someone but leave them alive, they'll get more stuff you can steal from them

Nah, I was just thinking of an after effect of slaughter... wasn't really considering long term predation. It just would be nice for them to have some good stuff, kind of like a bonus :)
Well, it's a bit more complicated than just simply gluing them along. Something happened at the Willow that makes the PCs special, and no, I didn't specify what(They'll find out a good deal later). If new characters are to join up, I would have to re-create that condition in a less-than-conspicuous fashion.
I'm sure I could do it though.
well, if we got someone waiting, assuming you have a plan... we should probably try and hurry up to get them a chance to get involved... i dunno if anyone else has complaints, but that's my thinking at the moment...
Yeah... I figure he wouldn't be able to join at where you guys are now. I've been a bit busy though, which is why I haven't updated today. I'll try to get something up tonight if possible, for now, it's back to my econ assignment.
haha, if you need some help let me know, i got an A- in macro, and i've got a solid 98% so far in micro...
oh, also as a side note, you have no idea how hard it was to not have garis think 'bow chicka bow wow' at some point
Well, transition made, I figured it was time to move on, so... it's morning now. Whomever was sleeping can wake up now.
A character for your consideration, if this isn't what you had in mind to continue on the rp then just let me know, also I would call dibs on literally falling out of the sky if that's cool.
Name: Kor-Kor Kshar Ent
Race: Mythos / Cubi
Age: ???? (It's suppose to be a mystery but I'll tell all OOC like upon request)
Gender: ????? It's suppose to be a mystery too
Physical Description: This Cubi is the product of much confusion. Scales and Feathers. Think Quetzaquatl-taur, though Kshar is not restricted to using only two sets of legs or arms, they can easily crawl about centipede like or stand on the last two legs to suppose three sets of arms. However this Mythos base came with an extra set of arms. Four arms, four legs, green scaly body with feathered joints and mane. Feathers are rainbow, staring at white and running the course through yellow, orange, red and ending in green tips. The wings are primarily indigo with blue primary feathers. It's hands and feet are the same, each with three phalanges that end in retractable claws. It's tail ends in a split and changes from the green of the main body to a purple and then pink at the tips. The tail is featherless through some manner of injury, the purple and pink are ragged examples of scar tissue (not what color it is naturally). It's eyes are two different colors, one solid gold (and none too natural looking), one is gifted with a green red split. The Cubi Tentacles end in eyeless mouths full of teeth. Though they have a clan marking it is hidden at the base of the neck in the mane, even they haven't seen it. *EDITED DESCRIPTION*
All and all a very colorful character :mowtongue
Possessions: Pouch on belt between last set of "arms" and first set of "legs". Filled with .. feathers, white down. A few gold coins. A jar of salve, numbing sensation when applied, unpleasant to eat.
Abilities: As a cubi Kshar can read minds, feed off of emotions, use some limited magic (with an affinity for healing), and assume a secondary form (having not attained the awesome power of shape shifting). As a Mythos Kshar suffers in the hands of poisons but laughs in the face of lower class magic. Thankfully there is also a magical sort of regeneration that is blessing most Cubi and Mythos. As a Cubi their affinity for emotions circle around Love and Camaraderie. *EDIT DESCRIPTION*
The secondary form is of a Being in the manner of a white cat / angel with blue eyes. This form, however, is female and very fluffy. Her hair and tail are especially so, even to the point of distraction as he enjoys the fluff of her second form. This form is completely white except for the clan marking at the base of the neck in blue. *EDITED DESCRIPTION*
Biography: Kor-Kor Kshar Ent is a Mythos Cubi shunted. They will awake in an alley (or just fall from the sky) without much memory of self, only a few clues, such as the confusion of a name and the pouch with stuff in it. Though there is someone looking for them, that much is certain, a dark shadow in it's mind insists that something is missing and that someone should suffer. (look out amnesia haters).
Personality: Friendly and vicious. Friendly to those who are friendly first, and vicious as the need calls for it. Mostly Kor-Kor will be Confused and follow like a puppy at first, after a time or two of getting some memories this will change to a caring and sometimes sad individual. And then we'll see where that takes us
Strengths and Weaknesses: Hard to kill, but not hard to confuse. Example: Epic fight, continued smashy will not kill, Kor-kor starts to get the upper hand and then the enemy calls out in distress, "ow my foot!" after tripping backwards. Suddenly Kor-Kor losses interest in fighting and wants to help. Fairly gullible, without much memory of experience the poor thing is going to have a hard lesson or two in the beginning. Hard to beat a creature with ten limbs in physical combat however (before the tentacles), and this is probably the only thing that they have going for them.
Color: Orange EDITED!
And here's one already approved by our dear The1Kobra.
Name: Zanfib Black
Age: 25
Race: Being (Ringtail)
Height: 5ft 9in,
Weight: 160 pounds
Appearance: Black overcoat with a white undercoat, he could be mistaken for a skunk if not for his distinctive tail, a furry length as long as he is tall, and banded with alternating strips of white and black. His eyes are sharp violet, a color just as unusual as his fur coloration. His build is slim, supple and athletic, and he keeps his fur near immaculate, giving a soft texture, and shiny sheen. He is typically dressed in simple and functional cloth, favoring colors that match his fur pattern. He usually has a backpack with him, in which he stows his traveling gear, but he carries no visible weapons.
Abilities: Zanfib is a psion, a master of the mind. This does not mean he is limited to mere mind-tricks, oh no, it means that Zanfib has a gift, the ability to directly exert his will upon reality, instead of through arcane, divine, or more mundane reasons. The energy to supply such powers comes his mind, body, reflexes, intellect, wisdom, and spirit, and he may occasional draw power from different sources, but they are otherwise entirely internal. He specializes in the art of assaulting his foes with blasts of raw energy, erecting barriers around himself, and moving about through psionic means (Flight and teleportation). However, he also has a considerable level of skill in telepathy, and a number of other psionic fortes.
History: Hailing from Astaraa, Zanfib was mistaken for a budding mage early on, and was sent to an arcane academy. However, after showing no aptitude for the arcane arts what-so-ever, and often fouling the spell-casting of experienced mages by intercepting their concentration, the head mage of the school identified him for what he was, and had him sent away to far more suitable tutor, another psion. Zanfib spent quite a good amount of time under the tutelage of the elder psion, but was eventually told that they only way to truly master the mind was to expand it, and that was done through travel, seeing the world, and learning. And that is what set Zanfib on his travels initially, although he has taken to a bit of adventuring since.
Color = Purple

Just a note, you probably don't want to keep secrets about your character from the DM. If you want to keep stuff secret from the other players, you can PM me the additional info, I don't really see how gender would be a mystery though, considering differences in appearance.
That goes for his biography as well, does he(she/it/whatever?) have a biography that the character doesn't know about? If so, you should PM it to me if you don't want the other players knowing about it, I'll keep it secret. However, I would require such information, in case an event in the plot happens which might cause some odd contradiction with his past. If you don't, that's okay, you can make it up as you go along, I suppose...
What's his emotional affinity?
On his personality:
What are his views towards creature/being issues? Does he tend to view beings as equal to himself or inferior?
How would he react towards someone who helped him? To someone who saved his life? Would he feel indebted to said person?
Also, could you give a bit more detail on what his second form looks like?
Lastly, could you select a color? This is used in case I need to put something in a post that only your character would notice. (Blue, Green, Yellow, Red, and Purple have been taken).
For getting you in the group, I think for convenience's sake, I'll put you in the same place as Ghostwish's character when he joins up, I'll PM you the details later. (The setting of course, may depend on some of the questions I asked)
Ghostwish:
Everything is in order, if this goes smoothly, you should be able to hop in soon.
Hooray! ^_^
soo... how are we going to thwart basi's attempt to take this party to hell in a hand basket tonight gang? :mowhappy
I found a way to fit the two new players in, they'll show up shortly after you leave Sharakha.
Speaking of which.... *poke poke*.
*pokepokeBASEBALLBAT*
I'll post either late tonight or early tomorrow, but right now, I have an essay to finish.
Understood. I've finished most of my finals, so, I have a lot of free time on my hands as of late. Take your time though, real life should come first, always.
yea... i've got my last midterm friday... then i'll have a ton of free time for like the next month...
i've got a feeling that my bar tab is going to come close to equaling my disposable income when that happens too :3
Actually, on looking at the IC thread, Ked isn't a position to do much, unless the rest of you are willing to have him chivvy you all out of bed and get you marching before breakfast.
Oh man, all this talk of college does not bode well with me.. Just another month, and I'm out of the service. And then it's off to colllege for me, hooray!
So wheres everyone studying?

Hell, care to join me? :kittydevious
soo, is everyone now waiting on Nicha and Garis to head downstairs then?
I'm more waiting on Raffeile (sp?) to wake up.
... horrible idea, but funny too... poke him... preferably with a broom handle or something...
Sorry guys, but I've just been sick and with schoolwork bearing down, do you can imagine how unpleasant that's been :/
I'll be posting up the transition to the next disaster event in my next post. I have some traveling to prepare for though, so I'll have it up later tomorrow. Before I do that, am I safe in assuming everyone would follow Kassin along?
(I'm probably going to write most of the post on the train ride).
i think thats a pretty safe assumption, the only one i'd be worried about is Raffiele... and i'm sure even he can see the value in keeping as a pack... since we're going to be dealing with beings, they're fighting in numbers... soo, with us staying together we can overcome their numbers advantage by either brute force, or actual teamwork to counter the being's teamwork...
by the way... were are you going?... also have a safe trip... and have fun too
Rafa would stay out of pure necessity, quietly hoping that he's the one who's wanted alive while the others get butchered.
And have a safe journey, Kob :U
Hopefully this disaster will involve my entrance. :D
... i just re-read what i posted... the mental imagery is a little... frightening isn't quite the right word... but damn, Garis is very much so coming off as evil...
Healing the archer's wound and then twisting a tentacle around in his belly... that's pretty torturous, but it is effective and he won't die on us.
Actually, I'm pretty sure neither of those adventurers would be alive enough for an interrogation, I suppose I'll take a look later, but, I don't think the bowman would survive long enough to get to the healing bit.
well, the burn wouldn't be too severe as garis used the fireball as more a distraction than a weapon, the slashes could be fatal if they hit the lungs, but coming from the sides, it should take about 2 minutes for deep wounds to the torso to cause enough blood loss to cause the person to go into a state of unconsciousness...
(yay for taking classes so i can work as an EMT once i graduate, so i can work through med school at a high paying job)
... so, either he's drowning in his own blood... and he gurgles and spews up what's in his lungs in Garis's face... or he's alive enough to talk for a little while, as in before exposure to the cold, along with the sudden stab through the belly causes his subconscious brain to shut down most functions, go into a state of shock, and while resting, his body tries to heal itself... keeping the conscious mind happy with a saturation flow of serotonin and endorphins
(side note, this entire explanation is based on the human body...and therefore because it's based on human anatomy... a lot is left up to the GM)
I love how detailed the description is.
I'm a vote for blood vomit in your face, after all they are mortal and two demons fled the scene.
EEEEEE .... *waits for que on edge of seat.*
I'm gonna start the beatings if you keep drawing it out, Kobra!!!! :U
well, we're waiting on Raffiele at the moment, i'm not really sure what he's doing besides slowly inching in on kassin and kedered... unless he wants to go join garis in the searching of information/ other threats near by...
Please don't beat the Kobra...
On a side note, yes, you two can post now, though I wouldn't imagine your characters would be fully coherent yet.
Whenever it comes to mental capacity, psions bounce back quick. :D Sure, he ain't up for a jig yet, but he's coherent enough.
Hmm
Coherent, psh! Poor gender confused Kshar is going to be incoherent for a long time.
... question, what is said hut made out of?
Something flammable
Probably all he needed to know. ;)
Edit: I'm gonna hold off on posting for now, to give the others a chance to respond. Our lovable gamemaster seems to be having connection issues right now, as I expected Kassin to pop in by this point. ;)
Sorry for being overly dramatic, but its my day of birth and I want to have just one Gandalf moment to myself... before you all resort to the typical passive-aggressive, veiled insults we always do about others' characters.
Hey, passive-aggressive on the Internet is the only way to go >:[
I keep reading quotes like this in OOC, and then I kind of want to read the IC...
Heh, it's the truth though... everyone thinks they are the best and strongest, so when someone challenges that illusion we of course blow it off and the worst of us add a veiled insult about the offending character in our responses.
It's 'strewth, if I was to say, "Tyrian is the oldest and obviously the most powerful in sheer magic and power!" Everyone would laugh and scoff... despite it being true... and continue on their merry way, either ignoring the character's actions or brushing it off like a god swatting a fly with a skyscraper.
I do have a propensity for engaging in monumental scenes though, so I felt a need to apologize.
Wow ..... I guess I didn't realize how often I was posting, once again got a little carried away.
Sorry about the massive number of actions without much break for others to respond! >:3 :eager Just love playing. :)

Heh, it's the truth though... everyone thinks they are the best and strongest, so when someone challenges that illusion we of course blow it off and the worst of us add a veiled insult about the offending character in our responses.
Ok, I'll admit, I have some stake in Kedered being percieved, perhaps not as the toughest or the best, but at least as a competant member of the party.
Now, this chain of violence started when Zanfib, waking up after being healed out of unconsciousness, addresses Kassin by name, someone which he has presumably never seen before. Ked is almsot instantly holding over him with a sword at his neck, demanding to know how he knows them. In the first version of the post, Ked was flung clean out of the room. In this version, he's knocked off balance before he has a chance to react. How long does it take to lower a blade into someone when you're standing over their prone form? About 3/10ths of a second, give or take.
Ked rolls off, shakes himself loose, and counterattacks, this time more forcefully, to have Zanfib basically ignore his abilities. I don't believe that Ked is such a wimp that someone who has just been unconscious not
10 seconds ago! is capable of completely thwarting any attack he can possibly muster up and at the same time utter a taunting and seemingly completely effortless verbal barrage.
Personally, I think it's (expletive of choice) ridiculous, but perhaps I'm biased. I'm not demanding that Kedered be the top dog of the party, but right now, he seems to be that "Blundering stupid guy that makes the rest of the cast look more heroic".

I think Azlan's age was being put to question, to which I can only say... I am fae.
As for Tyrian, his age was intended to be whatever it needed to be to hit about a minimum of a few hundred older than everyone else... so if the other critter ends up older, I can always say that was only the age Ty was willing to admit to. So even if it turns out to be 25,000 years old... Ty will end up being 25,200 or so. Everyone has certain themes, and mine is playing the oldest character. My lawyer's information is available upon request if you feel the need to sue me.
*impressed whistle* 950? Well that's quite a good number to have under your belt. Imagine the cake and candle set up on that! Maybe like two cakes. I like that theme of being the eldest, it allows you do so much, but the question is what was that time spent doing? Training or watching or eating cheetos?
Now as for Zanfib, if my two cents means anything, the only precedence I have in mind is an anime reference or two: Gundam Heiro, was able to fool a machine designed to read brainwaves for activity when awake (assuming that they were awesome), moving around and unplugging himself without alarming anyone. And that's without Psychic powers.
However this was more impressive in a world without magic. The Magically enhanced-ness of a cubi or demon as compared to a being here is awesomely overpowering. Beings suffer endlessly in the hands of either.
Zanfib should be a match for a trained Cubi, if he himself is equally trained. However I forgot how old Zanfib is and I'm fairly certain that the sheer difference in time spent training would allow Kedered to overcome Zanfib, the fact that Zanfib was unconscious from serious injury moments before aside.
EDIT: Wait a minute, .... Azlan are you in the DMFA comic and it's just been so long that I don't remember the name? I thought the picture looked familiar!!! *pre-emptive joy squeal!*
I'll admit, part of that is probably my fault for not responding sooner. I have another train to catch in the morning though, so I'll figure out something after that. Hopefully I won't have to DM-override anything and we'll be able to avoid something like this in the future, but yes, I do certainly see the legitimacy in Corg's claims.
Though, I admit, this set of circumstances may make it difficult to glue Zanfib in...
Safe Travels! :mowmeep
To chip in on the whole power thing, it's pretty evident to me that Rafa's the weakest person in the entire group just by virtue of not having any magical ability, and he'd reluctantly admit it. Probably the only major use he'd have is engaging or distracting a group of other, physical-damage focused opponents.
And happy trails, Kob.
Actually tip, i'd say you'd be the strongest in any stand up, toe to toe fight... hardening skin and razer sharp claws... unlike garis, who has to fight fast and get out, Rafe can stay in a fight, meaning once he gets in close, unless it's another demon, he's got the upper hand... i see this less as a numbers game, and more like a game of chess... each character has their advantages in certain styles of combat...
Allright, look, I understand everyone here wants to be the most powerful character ever, and that's fine by me, but one thing yall keep saying is irking me quite a bit..
What the heck makes you think recent unconscious is going to affect Zanfib in any manner or form? Was I not clear enough in stating that he is a PSION? As in, a MASTER OF THE MIND? Shall I go further to say that his mental fortitude could very well be greater than anyone else's in the party, maybe even go out on a limb and say that perhaps he could well recover from trauma much faster than the present party, seeing how that is his forte and the sole-focus of his abilities? He is not a fighter! Not a spell-caster! He is a psion, through and through. I've observed in many fantasy/sci-fi environments that if a true psion isn't cut in half, dismembered, or dead, physical damage will not impede their abilities, at least not in the case of someone who is at least somewhat competent in exerting their will upon reality. Because a little pain here or there pushing a psion's ability off the deep-end is about the same as lopping the arm off a fighter, or interrupting a spellcaster's link to magic. It's a game-over. A psion is nothing, and I mean not even dick-squat without his concentration.
Or are we just going to force everyone to play over-powered creatures for the sake of balance? Because that also seems like what a fair few of you are suggesting.
That does it. I'm inventing a cubi-killing gun.
Edit: And then I go and pull a bad, because in my rant I forgot one crucial part.
'addresses Kassin by name, someone which he has presumably never seen before'
Don't assume. That adventurer isn't the only one with one of those pamplets.
I almost sympathize with Ghosty, then I remembered his Sweeping Darkness character... playing an over powerful creature in a game of beings... but anyways, this ranting is not conducive to anything, so tone it down.
I would have to stand on the side of 'cubi in regards to the strength of mental abilities, beings just have the short end of the stick, their only advantage is numbers. A stand alone being has no chance against a decent creature, hence why adventurers band together. The world of Furrae is not designed for balance, and to that I say "tough titty said the kitty as the milk ran dry". I cannot endorse any attempt to make a single being equal to creatures without the use of firearms and excessive technology. Sorry, too bad, so sad that is just the way it is.
Since psions don't exist on furrae, I cannot endorse their use. In every game system I have seen psionic based characters, they suffer from the same conditions as everyone else, including mind effecting ones... though they have a significant higher bonus to saves against mental conditions/effects... but I would think you are over-exaggerating.
I support neither Corg nor Ghosty in this.
I was hoping to put this whole dispute business off until I had some time to settle down, I think what I'm going to do this time is just to let it slide, though, I would really
really really prefer it if we don't have a repeat incident in the future.

Even if it doesn't make sense in your mind, due to that you know your character better than the rest of us, I still hope you can understand why some might view said actions with suspicion. I think it's assumed that Zanfib (and Kshar) were grievously wounded and would have died without Kassin's aid. Generally, near-death experiences take quite a toll on the person involved, immediate recovery in less than a minute, especially to go into fighting form... doesn't seem very realistic, at least, that's my perception of Corg's point of view. I don't see a mentalist being impervious to injury or extreme trauma. There are also extents to which magical healing applies, and I'm pretty sure that recovery, especially from one being so close to dying, wouldn't be immediate. If I recall, the others weren't completely coherent after recovery either.
Not to mention, I don't think getting violent was the best way of getting you into the party, I strain to come up with a realistic way as to how the others would ever trust your character. Besides, I would think a person with a blade right at his throat would be afraid, especially after what he had just been through.
But really, all I'm asking here is to take the view-point of the person issuing his complaint. Putting myself in his shoes, I certainly see his concerns as legit.
QuoteOr are we just going to force everyone to play over-powered creatures for the sake of balance? Because that also seems like what a fair few of you are suggesting.
Far from it, actually, when I take characters into consideration, I certainly
don't judge it based entirely on how well they fight, and I certainly did not figure players attacking each other into my calculations. Regardless, beings do have quite a few advantages over non-being characters, largely because beings are generally more well received in Ithralia and Thularians won't try to kill them on sight, which certainly has it's advantages. In fact, being able to get near Thularians and read their minds without them trying to attack you might prove to be very useful when facing off against them. Generally, I try to make open fights avoidable or extremely easy, Nicha and the two adventurers were the only 'forced fights' in my notes for a while, which, they were quite easy to realistically beat, and were there more for plot advancement than anything else.
When I consider balance, I try to factor in
everything. Actually, as far as beings are concerned, they would have a distinct advantage over creatures in your current instance, I don't think it would be too much of a spoiler to say that Kshar is soon going to find him/her self on that bounty list, whereas Zanfib would not. There, is a simple easy advantage of simply having a being character, since they could walk into various towns without having everyone with a ready weapon try to kill them.
What I'm really trying to say I guess, is that there is more to a character than 'how powerful?'.
I'm not going to penalize anyone for this little mess, as I prefer mercy over vengeance, and don't see the latter as productive. Just pleeeeeease try to understand what caused this mess and how to avoid it in the future.
With that, let's resume.
Had a bit of trouble with the internet connection earlier. Sorry about the slow response time. And very soon my husband has to use the computer for other things, most likely for the rest of the night. I'm having so much fun.

What's the deal with thought-readings?
I assumed that:
thoughts that were directed could not be heard by others
coloration was meant to be what a particular person experiences
that everyone who is cubi could and was shielding their thoughts
Ultimately, it's up to Kobra, to decide what is and isn't legit, but I was under the impression that any "loud" thought would be passively picked up by a 'Cubi unless he was shielded. A loud thought is something that is roiling on the thinker's mind, and if it's in Italics, it's probably fair game.
For his own usage, Kedered (There isn't an N in Kedered, why do people keep putting that N in there!?!?!one) doesn't employ a mind shield, as he likes to communicate back and forth with other 'Cubi through low level telepathy. (He consideres it somewhat beneath him to have to talk, but necessary for dealing with non-'Cubi. For a 'Cubi he'd rather telepathically communicate than actually speak) However he's extremely disciplined in what he allows to rise to the surface, so unless one makes a dedicated probe, it's going to be hard to read him.
Excellent ...
Now I just need to keep this in mind when writing :mowdizzy
And thank goodness for the Demonology 101 Cubi Abilities.
Tough times at work at the moment... I apologize for the delays this has caused and may cause. Hopefully the weekend will give enough free time to be able to post in a timely fashion.
I kind of think with directed thoughts anyways, that they can be 'wiretapped' by a mentalist, sort of how phone calls can get intercepted. I kind of assumed that Zanfib, Garis, and Kedered had some mental protection. I wouldn't think that a budding cubi would be mind shielded though (Dan wasn't), so, I don't see anything wrong with your thoughts being read.
On the subject of 'feeding' thoughts, I would think it would work the same way emotion jamming would, or at least be very similar, aka, it can be done to another mind-reader, but not to someone who can't read thoughts. (Like Eilan, Kassin, or Kyirri). I'd say Kshar would be a special case, since she seems to be attaining her cubi abilities, but ultimately that one is up to the player on whether she can have thoughts fed to her. I think it would be a pretty big boon to be able to have that.
Kshar is completely unprotected. She doesn't understand what it is to be a Cubi. So everything she's been thinking has practically been screamed at the top of her lungs. Now I wonder if anyone has placed any manner of shielding on Kassin or the others ... It can be done according to the Demo101, I'm just wondering who else Kshar would pick up on.
Kassin, Kyirri, and Eilan don't have mind shields. Eilan's learned how to put up fake thoughts as a means of protecting himself, though such a method isn't perfect and he can slip up under stress.
Eilan has two swords, so he likes to dance the blades too... I like him :)

You know ... I was thinking earlier ... Fae aren't allowed because of godmoding ... it's what they do most of the time. But then I was reading back over the races page of DMFA main page stuff and remembered that the Fae have rules they live by while interacting with different planes of existence. So if enough rules were laid on one a Fae could potentially play and not muck up the situation. However if your basic game play wouldn't make sense with the Undead there is a good chance that it won't be too grand to have them around for a reason other than GodModing.

Actually, the reason I didn't allow Fae (and undead) doesn't have to do with Godmodding at all. Unfortunately, I won't be able to elaborate on the reason, it's plot critical.

Well yes, but Hotel California was not written about zombies... everyone is far too sinister and loquacious to be shambling undead, plus the song speaks with more elegance which would elude more to vampires. It just feels like the wrong mix of tropes for zombies.

*sighs* How did this turn into a discussion about Hotel California?
At least according to the Eagles, Hotel California isn't about anything, or at the very most, the seductive aspects of the easy drugs and free sexual favors in the conntemporary stereotypical Californian culture.
As for tying it to zombies, it references an old starcraft map that I used to play with Kobra..... One of these "zombies attack the hotel and you have to get out" type map. Anyway, one time he spliced in the Hotel california music to it, and now, at least to me, the two are connected......

Honestly I think it's just a random aspect of the DMFA forums really. :D
And zomg, you guys used to toy with modded maps on starcraft too? Hehehe, man, if I could get my brood war CD working, I'd invite yall to play. :D
Oh, yah, and I'm back. :D
Well, one of the problems I found is that having the sound files ingrained into the map often caused it to slow down, so oftentimes I would play the normal version. I think I had a lot more fun making (and playing) 'Protect the Farmer...'. Oh, and I don't think I have the CD anymore :/.
RPwise, I just don't think a part where you spend a lot of time fighting hordes and hordes of zombies would add very much to the RP. It doesn't really fit in. I suppose there is some blend in the survival theme but really, I think survival against an intelligent adversary is more entertaining than survival against shambling hordes of undead. Though I suppose the feeling of isolation and vulnerability keeps throughout.
I suppose the total opposite of that would be like having a Fae as an opponent, which would be futile and frustrating from the start rather than gradually becoming more dry and plodding.
(grins widely) aheheheh... (cough)
Though I'll admit, a Fae villain would be difficult to manage, partly because there is likely much that I do not understood about them. I get the impression they're supposed to be at least semi-omnipotent, meaning they could only be defeated if they wanted to be defeated. Plus, I would have to fit them in somewhere, I suppose it's plausible they could disguise themselves until they wanted, but... having a Fae villain would have... complications. I really don't think being randomly homicidal is a Fae 'shtick'.
To put in nerdier terms, they're like Q from Star Trek, only less omnipitent and more mystical/eccentric.
Arguably, I'd say you could make a good Fae villain as a kind of mastermind, but there'd be no practical way to combat them; you'd have to either run away, get another Fae to help you, bluff your way out of the situation, or hope he/she could listen to reason.
Then again, this is just me with my own limited understanding as well :U
A Fae should not be used under any circumstances, either as a player or as a villain. To do so without having a full understanding of what they are would be irresponsible and completely lacking in the sanity department. I would loose much respect for anyone who tried something like this.
I know enough about Fae to use them as a gamemaster, and as a player... but very close work and planning with the gamemaster is required to be able to do it successfully. The only exception is Azlan because he is special, very special.

Edit: Nevermind, internet access isn't a problem.
Erm, just one thing before I continue onto the next scene(s), is Garis going with Eilan and the away team? The next major post of mine will skip to about an hour (game-time) of my previous post. I'm pretty sure Kedered and Zanfib are going with Eilan, Rafa is running away (don't worry I actually had prepared for scenarios like this...), Kshar and Tyrian are staying. I'm not sure about Garis though, I'd like definite clarification before I continue.
And don't worry, I'll be sure to have something interesting happen on all fronts.
the whole situation with Garis is dependent on Zanfib, if he goes, Garis stays, if Zanfib stays, Garis goes... So, whoever wants to go can go...
Has anyone seen Ghostwish in a while?
actually, on 2nd thought, since zanfib is unable to change forms, it might be better if garis goes... being able to change his appearance at will could prove a more valuable trait... lemme go put up a post of garis getting into disguise, and then you can post from there kobra...
Of course, there isn't a bounty up for Zanfib... so he wouldn't really need to shapeshift. He also told me (via AIM), that he wanted to be on the away team. Anyways, I'll leave my posts room for last minute decisions (I hope), next post of mine is going to be pretty long... I'll have it up shortly, (I hope)

Sorry about the inactivity; calculus midterm was today and I've been spending the last few days preparing/fretting over it. Now that it's over, I'll try and get a post in sometime after lunch.
Kobra, what is with you and Mcbeth?
*wince* Calculus, I am not looking forward to that. Why oh why do they think computer majors need calculus?
Good luck to you!
Actually, I can accurately say that knowledge of Lambda Calculus helps a lot when dealing with Functional Programming Languages, like FORTRAN or Haskell.
Also as far as discrete mathematics (which there is some calculus in there), helps for lexical analyzers, particularly the parts about formal languages(for compilers) and grammars(for compilers, and languages like YACC or Bison).
The calculus helps once you get beyond OO programming, though it's generally best to get it out of the way sooner rather than later.
As for the MacBeth quotes, I kind of thought something... threatening would fit in well with the RP's general tense, paranoid setting... and MacBeth is certainly a resource of things that would go along. Plus, it's one of the few Shakespeare plays that I have actually seen.
Hells, I stopped receiving emails about updated threads for some reason. I do hate glitches, I do.
Kobra - Ahhh, yes, I forgot about the older languages, which are still very much in use, aren't they? Well, if it ain't broke.. But anyway, seeing how I plan on going in as a game designer, and will hence be using more of the 'modern' languages, you can see where I get a bit irked needing higher-tier mathematical skill..
Well, I suppose if I ever decide to moonlight as an astronomer..
Going to my grandparents for Pesach, might not e able to write much for the next few days.
um, 2 questions,
#1: anyone seen Redeyesoul?
#2: would garis have picked up on anything that was conversed between brady and the others?
Redeyessoul's last login date was March 28th, from her most recent post she said she was having internet issues. Albeit, I would have thought they would have been corrected by now. (Maybe not)
As for question 2, it really depends on the range of Garis's thought reading, I figure it's a floor and a few hallways away, certainly quite some distance, plus there's the interference from everyone else in the bar. Personally, I think it would be a bit of a stretch but not entirely impossible.
I think we need to come to some sort of decision here. It's been almost 2 weeks since we've seen Redeyessoul. What are we going to do once we have to move?
Yeah... I really don't know what to do myself, she said in her edit that she would be out for 3 days or so. I do have a few options available to me, though I'll admit, I really don't like the look of them.
I could simply boot, though that isn't really fair if she does come back. Letting it lie isn't a great option, I could send a PM, but I think that's infringing on privacy, and she might not respond.
One option I came up with, is, if she's not back by the time you guys depart, have her character go her separate ways (and there is perfect incentive to do that, since, I haven't made any indication that she was included in the bounty.), and then, when/if she comes back, I can engineer a scenario where she gets back in the group. It's one of the more stable options I can think of, but I don't exactly feel comfortable controlling another person's character like that.
We could just assume she's silently milling along with the rest of you once you guys leave. Again, I don't exactly feel comfortable controlling someone's character like that, and it leaves the problem of having an inactive character for an unspecified amount of time.
I'm not really sure what I should do, though I feel the time for me to make a decision is approaching fast. If any of you have any recommendations, I would greatly appreciate it.
Yeah, Tyrian took Kassin with him into the other room... just an FYI.
Redeyessoul still hasn't logged on since the 28th.., if anyone has any objections with what I plan to do below, please let me know.
Essentially, I think that, once the group leaves Kyirri's house, Kshar won't go with you(if Redeyessoul isn't back by then). She'll stay with Kyirri, go somewhere else, doesn't really matter. She has some obvious disincentive to going, because it could put her in extreme danger, and I haven't given indication that she is in danger yet (which would be incentive to stay). If/when she comes back, I can engineer a scenario to have her come back in, and if she doesn't... well... then she's gone.
I'm not entirely comfortable doing this... but I think it's the best option as-is.
*pummels Azlan mercilessly* NO NO NO, I will NOT wear tights and shoot a bow! NO!

Why, why why did you have to open the LOTR can of worms?

If you stop and think, Sam is arguably the least affected by the ring and is also possibly the most heroic character in the fellowship. He's the most steadfast, the most human, the one for whom no detail is too small to notice (who else would have mentioned that they forgot to bring rope?) Sam certainly accomplishes more than Legolas.
But I still call Aragorn
Oh very true. Tolkien entered him as the embodiment of friendship and loyalty, really. And.. I think the representative of some country in WWII, but I forget which.
Doesn't change the fact he routinely got the snot beat out of him. XD
He kills Shelob......... The only time I can recall him being beaten up is by the wights, which were a little out of the hobbits class.
can i be sauron then?
just so i can use the line:

Too bad, I'm making you Saruman :P
How am either I or Kedered in any way like Saruman?
Well, that would beg the question how is Zanfib anything like Sam? ^_^
sorry for the excessively vague post... without having redeyes hear i didn't feel it would be proper to do anything else... it gets Garis set for transition whenever your ready, and it gives a good idea of what he's up to as well.
I've removed Redeyessoul from the active players list, I suppose if she comes back I can engineer a way to get her back in.
What are we waiting on?
Sorry for the absence, but the last month has been very busy. I have now become the sole technical contact between our new international offices in Germany, Japan, Singapore and Australia... which has led to some rather obnoxious hours. I haven't had the energy to do much of anything.
That's fine Az, it's perfectly understandable. RL first.
On another note, I've recently taken to fighting off a sore throat, complete with a runny nose, a cough, and napping for 3 hours at a time. I'll try to keep things running though.
Minor DM update:
I've (mostly) gotten over whatever I've had. I might be a bit busy for the next few weeks though, but I should be able to keep things running, hopefully anyways.
hello there. I don't really know this RP, I never bothered to look any closer at it or read it in-depth, but I seem to have an obsession with proper character indexes. You have one, but it lacks leeeenks...even though all but one character is on the first page.
So, to blow 5 minutes, here's a character sheet with links that you can replace in the first post!
Active Players:
Basilisk2150--Garis Ahnasazi (http://clockworkmansion.com/forum/index.php/topic,5619.msg260683.html#msg260683)
Corgatha Taldorthar--Kedered Aldoraethar (http://clockworkmansion.com/forum/index.php/topic,5619.msg260693.html#msg260693)
Azlan--Tyrian Xuledo (http://clockworkmansion.com/forum/index.php/topic,5619.msg260906.html#msg260906)
Tipod--Rafielle Thom'sen (http://clockworkmansion.com/forum/index.php/topic,5619.msg261126.html#msg261126)
Ghostwish--Zanfib Black (http://clockworkmansion.com/forum/index.php/topic,5619.msg265507.html#msg265507)
(though, you may want to verify the links first. As I've said in The City, direct-message links aren't working for me so I can't verify them myself)
Thanks tech, the links work for me, I'll add them to the main post shortly.
On a side note, IC thread seems pretty locked up... *poke poke*. I suppose I could just transition to the next RP-day if no one has anything else they want their characters to do.
I do have more stuff that I want Ked to do, but I don't really want to double post in the IC thread........
Sorry about my inactivity here, guys. I've just been dealing with college and am realizing just how mismanaged this whole campus is.
Does anyone have anything they want their characters to do before we rest? I want to have Ked tap in on Kassin's dreams, but I don't want to just fastforward the scene to reesting.
Nope, I'm good.
I'm waiting on an azlan response... but other than that... Garis was going to go sleep up in a tree
I left things a little vague. I'm not 100% sure as to how exactly 'Cubi step into other people's dreams, just that they do, so yeah..... I'm hoping nobody has a source that says actual contact is necessary.
Don't blame you, I don't think we've seen a solid example of how it's done in the comic. Seems that close proximity is all that is required.
Note: I edited my latest post, I tried to make it more clear that time had shifted to morning, and added a short of Eilan packing everything up as well.
Say.. I was wondering if I could possibly join? I don't mind waiting a bit for a proper opening for my character to come in (especially since I have to type her out.. I have a basic written outline but need to tweak it to fit her to this RP). I may be a bit rusty since it's been a few years since I properly RP'ed.. and even then it was in the Star Wars universe XD (and was not in a forum). If you don't think it's a good idea let me know :)
Also.. if I can join, can you give me a bit of info on Whispwood? Thanks ^_^
Well, I try to be accommodating, and the RP is marked as open (I set my Arbitrary Insanity Limit at 7), so you're free to join. I will have to come up with a scenario to get your character in, but the players are still in a place where it should be fairly easy on my part to do so.
Whispwood is an enigma of Atharra. There is more rumor about the place than established fact, however, the few known dangers of the place, coupled with many circulating rumors, as well as most travelers who go in never returning, mean that very few people actually go near the place. No actual civilization, as far as is known, lives in there.
Whispwood is an incredibly dense forest, the place is twisting and confusing, and is incredibly hard for even the most skilled of trackers to navigate through. The place is also known to be shrouded in a very thick fog, so thick that one could not see the sky through it, and as a side effect, it becomes impossible to tell whether it is night or day. The place also seems to negate magic as well, nothing works inside, magical items, creature powers, ordinary magic, nothing at all. It's a very dangerous place to be, mostly because it is easy to get lost, never come out, and starve.
Whispwood also has a large host of rumors associated with it, most go to lengths as to how dangerous the place is. Some say that some incredibly powerful creatures live there, and hunt down and devour any who trespass within the woods. Others say that the woods themselves are controlled by malevolent spirits, and they themselves hate all animal life and seek to devour any who come within. There are also stories of the witches, beings and creatures who have allegedly had their bodies taken over by the Whispwood's malevolence, and are cursed to forever tend to the woods. There are countless more, but most are of questionable truth at best.
Regardless, the place is completely abandoned by any kind of civilization, the living stay well away from the woods, and there aren't many that dare to traverse the place, at least, not deeply anyways.
Awesome! Thank you for the info too. I should have my character up within the next hour or two =) I'll post it here when finished.
:boogie
Edit: Ok here she is! If there is anything I missed or need to fix let me know.
Chance Laxia
Snow leopard succubus
Age: 23
Height: 5 feet 5 inches
Weight: 140 pounds
Appearance: Dons a heavy, wool, hooded cloak which also cover her wings (and makes her look like she has a major hunch back.. quite silly). She wears a halter top and pair of hipster shorts with a skirt over them. She has the normal fur patern of a Snow Leopard with white chest area and a black tipped tail. Her wings are white with black tips on the lowest feathers. The hair on her head is also white with black tips and one streak in her bangs (like in the avatar). She also wears a belt to keep her two broad-daggers on as well as a pouch for trinkets, a water container, and coins. Her only adornments consist of a leather band wrapped around her arm above her left bicep muscle and a gold bangle around her right ankle. Her clan mark is located on her right rear cheek which looks like a red V with squigglies coming from the ends.
Personality: Always tries to put on a tough act but is prone to giggles and gravitational mishaps.. in other words she can be rather clumbsy. She is friendly and loyal to those who show her any bit of kindness, even trusts too soon for anyone's good. Once she has an objective set before her she will see it through even if she gets through by sheer will alone. She is an optimist and tries to see the good in any situation.
Abilities: She has not come into cubi power yet and so can only cast Fire spells. But since she didn't care to study anything more than Fire she can cast a pretty large fireball a good distance (only if she is well fed and watered of course). Her parents taught her hand-to-hand fighting skills knowing that cubi often are lacking in such things. She is very agile and quick but strong enough to handle her weapons. Very proficient in handling her two broad-daggers she can hold her own quite well. Also even though she is not into cubi power she can still sense emotions around her and can gain a small bit of energy from them. She already knows her favorite taste of emotion: Determination. She has full use of her wings.
History: Living in Astarea was nice. She grew up in a more being-populated area because her father was a 'closet cubi' and didn't like being bothered by other creatures. Her mother was a being and so staying in the area she was born in pleased her. She went to a magic academy for a brief period since she only could only excel at fire magic. The higher-ups of the academy advised her father to teach her at home until her abilities broaded, but they never did. While at the academy she made one friend there who had black on white fur; like a skunk, and a ringed tail - He was kicked out shortly before she left herself. Her mother taught her combat skills while her father taught her fire magic and flight because Chance showed a great interest in wandering off and they both knew she was going to leave first chance she got - and she did.
Possessions: Two broad daggers (also a bit longer than normal daggers.. approximately 2 feet), a leather strap on arm, gold bangle on ankle, belt to hold daggers and pouch, pouch that contains a water container, 20 coins, a kazoo, a rubber band, and a quartz crystal (which she has no idea what it's for - but her father insisted she take it).
Edit:
Her hair is shoulder length, she does not have head wings yet, her biggest fear is tight enclosed spaces (especially those hewn out of rock), and she is most comfortable when in a forest.
Edit Edit: I tweaked the history a bit.. :3
Color: Orange
Ooo. Very nice character! And ours are from the same region too. Maybe a chance they know each other? ;)
Thanks!! I'm really worried about actually being able to do this but I'm gonna give it my best!
And maybe they do know eachother.. hmmm.. perhaps childhood playground friends? :giggle

Character looks good, now I just need to figure out how to get her in, I have a few ideas.
Also, if you want Chance to have met Zanfib prior to joining the RP, you might want to work out the details with Ghostwish, and then tell me, that would be kind of important. As a side note, it might help smoothen the transition to joining with the other PCs.
I'll PM you with an idea to get you in shortly, or maybe tomorrow morning, whenever I iron out the details.
Awesome! Thanks!
Oh, can I change my color to pink? Well.. since I'm a girl and all :giggle I'll edit my profile post.
So.. Ghostwish.. Lets work this thing out =D Playground buddies or what? ^_^
Oh, and Kobra, Put my post on hold for a bit. I caught another cold, and I'm kind of out of things. I'll put something up tomorrow morning.
Go ahead, I just hope you like reading pink text.
Corg: That's okay, I've got a final tomorrow. Plus, I generally like to leave 24 hours between my IC posts, at minimum.
Edit: The method of entrance has been sorted out, it should happen soon, if all goes well.
Hello fellow RPers,
Just giving everyone the heads up that i'm helping a friend move to cali, and i'm leaving tomorrow. I'll be gone for a week, but i'm bringing my laptop. Internet connections may be a bit spotty, but i'll update when i get the chance. I should be able to reply at least every other day so although delayed, i probably won't completely disappear. Sorry for the inconvenience to you all.
Awww.. bummer.. Well, all for the best perhaps with my character coming in... she might get a moments peace without you trying to paw her up :P :giggle
Oh, and Kobra Comander ( :giggle can I call you that? ^_^ ) I have to apologize for being such a pain with this whole gosh darn color thing.. but I just realized how very hard it is to distinguish the pink from the white text (at least for me) so.. would it be too much of a pain for me to go back to orange?
Also I forgot a few lil details on my character profile.. and also I'll have to tweak it a bit once I get Ghost's approval.
Edit: okie dokes I changed the history in my profile a bit :)
QuoteOh, and Kobra Comander ( :giggle can I call you that? ^_^ )
Please don't.
The color change is okay, I'll go update that. (Unless you've changed your mind again)
The new bio is okay too, now I just wait till I can glue you in. It should hopefully happen soon.
Edit: It's confirmed that Zanfib and Chance know each other, I'm sure that encounter will turn out to be... interesting. (grins)
Garis isn't handsy, he's just very flirtatious...
and for Corgatha, it's more that and he's never hooked up with a demon before :P...
anyway... onto more serious questions, Corgatha, are Ked's thought's open or shielded?
Kobra, you're a darn-near saint with your patience, thank you! :giggle

Kobra has it nailed right there.
RP Update: wuffnpuff is good to go for posting, I probably wouldn't have fast-forwarded that last scene, but I felt it wasn't fair to keep her waiting. Anyways, I'll update the first post with that info.
Quote from: The1Kobra on May 23, 2009, 11:48:42 PM
"Extra planar? Deity?" Eilan raised an eyebrow. "I know some creatures sometimes try to set up cults with them as the center of worship, but I barely think that counts. Regardless, I've never heard of any divination methods requiring, 'extra-planar' connections, are you thinking of something else?"
Tyrian is interpreting the word divination, which in real life common parlance has come to mean the attempt to gain insight into a question or situation by way of a standardized process or ritual, as the old, true term from Latin, divinare "to be inspired by a god".
Though they have not been mentioned, there are gods and goddesses in the DMFA world of Furrae. With Amber, things can always change, but in the old Nice forum RP of DaFfA (Doing a Favor for Azlan) she graciously revealed one Goddess that could be used for one of the Player's clerics, Gliynn (Gabi's character). That goddess was Shinda, the Pheonix Oracle Goddess of Knowledge.
As has happened in the past, things in her lore can change, so this goddess herself may not exist any longer... but then again it still may.
Edit: Ty's ice form is resilient and inflicts cold damage if you get too close to him (Ty can choose to not inflict damage), but he is slow unless moving through snow and ice.
Thanks so much Kobra! :boogie
Generally (and yes, I'm a DnD player, though I realize the word 'Divination' may have several interpretations), I set up that Divinations are magical methods of scrying, information gathering, seeing into the future, etc. They don't necessarily have to go through 'divine' means.
Just the way I have the RP set up, there's not really a lot of 'power' in religion. You do get people who are 'clerics', and claim that their powers are from a deity, but their magic works the same way as everyone else's. It's more common in Ithralia where generally those in priestly professions are more educated, and generally more inclined to have magical training, however, it's not really something major in the RP.
Oh, and yes, there's snow aplenty...
As much as I would like to respond right now, I'd rather Ghostie have Zanflab... fib... fib, Zanfib respond to that attack.
Oh go get eaten after three lines or something, ya git. :P

Double post, I realize, but Kobra, how is Eilan listening to our suggestions? Ked and Garis are communicating telepathically.......

Quote from: Corgatha Taldorthar on June 03, 2009, 01:08:47 PM
Using his voice instead of just his mind to include Eilan, who had come puffing into the glade, he said simply. "This is not really necessary. Between the three of us, we should be able to unriddle his mind shield in fairly short order. Once that is out of commission, we can have our psionic ally strain his mind like a soup bowl, and find out anything we want. It will probably be quicker than breaking him as well."
@Murmer:
It's going to involve me finding a way to get you glued in with the other PCs, shouldn't be too hard. I did set my insanity limit to 7, so there is a space.
Races available (Going from demonology.):
Angel
Being
Cubi
Demon
Dragon*MythosInsectisWerePhoenix (B)Gryphon (A)Gryphon (B)HumanMerUndeadFaeGryphon (C)Phoenix (A)The slashed out ones are prohibited for the RP, the italic ones are legal, but rare in the RP setting, so it's something to consider.
Dragons are legal, but for balancing purposes, I'd probably restrict them to young dragons, aka, when in dragon form, they're roughly human sized or slightly larger, not as big as a house.
Anyways, I hope that helps.
Terribly sorry for my absence. Moving houses is not too fun. Lemme get to rustling up a post.
my bad, I've been a bit out of it. I'll try to put a post together, but I can't promise quality.
Oops, sorry about this delay. I've been trying to get my head around a few things and some character concepts I had flying in my mind.
I'll get it up by possibly tonight.
EDIT: by the gods it's huge! WHY?!
Name: Kit – full name "Ketet Tari"
Age: 780
Gender: Female
Race: Dragon
Appearance: Kit possesses two forms – her full dragon form and an alternate 'being' form.
Kit's dragon form is that of a youngling dragon. Descendent of one of the small-sized blue families, Kit's hide has not fully taken on the rich deep indigo of an adult's hue, but instead is the palest shade of sky with patches of white dusted around her belly and spinal spikes. Her eyes too are a beautiful shade of sapphire, and given age will darken into almost midnight. Kit's body is sinuous and lithe, and on average is about the size of a small pony. While her body hasn't fully developed into her ancestral impenetrability dragons are famed for, she has sharp horns, claws and teeth that are sharp and speed and flight that easily bring down her food when hunting in the wild.
Kit's alternate form was adapted rapidly when she curiously began to wonder about the other beings and creatures of the world. In her 'being' form, she appears to be a wolf with pale blue fur, a white underbelly and dark blue eyes half-covered with a thick mane of long white hair. She usually hides her wings, but when they sprout they are draconic with fur lightly covering the overside, though it doesn't seem to hinder flight. A curious nature of her alternate form is that Kit still hasn't figured out how to do the tail quite right, forgetting – or maybe unable – to hide two dragon tail spikes. They look like painful, tribal piercings on her tail and jab out at symmetrical angles to each other to form a curved fork parallel to the ground.
Abilities:
Adaptable – Kit's body can adapt to a wide range of temperatures and environments without trouble. Her dragonkin are a nomadic lot, and the surroundings of her 'childhood' changed constantly. As such, Kit's body is naturally attuned to nullify the harmful effects of the environment at a very early age. This doesn't mean that she can adapt extremely fast, though, so she'd still be pretty screwed if somebody tossed her from a snow environment into a lava pit.
Flight – Kit can fly, but prefers to travel by foot. This is mainly because sustained flight or flight in general usually consumes a lot of energy. She'd fly if she wanted to get out of a place real fast, or scope out possibly dangerous terrain before deciding to land and hunt.
Draconic heritage – Kit's a dragon. Despite her small size she's still quite dangerous. While her hide isn't completely impenetrable (in fact, a few crossbow bolts could do it) she regenerates quickly and is stronger than she looks in both her forms. She's also very fast. It'd take a well-trained eye to catch and predict her movements, and she's quite adept at dodging attacks due to her hunter-nomadic family. She can also cast magic, but that's explained later. Perhaps her one sole weakness in her heritage is that she's super attracted to shiny stuff. Keep them away from her. No, seriously.
Kit can't breathe fire yet, but she can manage to whip up a good scalding steam.
Kit has a really sharp nose for precious metals, gems and other expensive things. Her other senses are also heightened, honed in through natural training and hunting.
Tooth and nail – Kit has a really sharp arsenal of natural weapons. Adding to that, if any of her teeth or nails or horns break they naturally regenerate quite fast (out of combat, of course). In her alternate form she also fights with all her body, and her claws and teeth are as sharp as they are in her dragon form. Preferential to close unarmed combat, an all-out attack by her is like being hit by an avalanche.
Magic – Kit is naturally adept at air and water magic, but her powers at manipulating the other elements are next to none. While most magic is studied, Kit and her dragonkin are innately tied in with the elements of air and water – being free-roaming nomads and all. Thus, they wield those two elements with a natural ability that increases as they grow. Right now, Kit's magic power is equivalent to a post-teenagers grasp of language – she manipulates air and water closely around her to a phenomenal degree that allows her to perform physics-defying stunts and other insane moves. In her element (that is, near or in water and its different forms for that matter, while air is usually all around her), she is second only to her peers and equal to any elemental mages specializing in those areas, but sometimes still struggles on a few ranged offensive spells. Her grasp on defensive magic too is quite adept.
Background:
Kit descends from a family of nomadic Sky dragons. Throughout her youth, she'd been taught to know well the ever-changing geography of her world. While they stayed away from major settlements, a few of her Family members would venture into the cities and sprawling towns to trade portable trinkets or necessities, and on some occasion they would take her with them. The Tari family brought Kit up to be proud of her ancestry and her intimate link with nature. Dragons were the top of the food chain, and Kit damn well knew that. Nonetheless, she was still curious about beings and other creatures they've encountered throughout their travels, and promised herself that when she turned 500 she would see the rest of the world through different eyes.
That she did, when she felt herself adept enough to handle the world on her own. On her birth date she left the family with mixed farewells and set out to explore on her own. Astarea was perhaps her first acquaintance to the lands of Atharra, and she learned quickly to adapt a form suitable to walk among the beings and experience a bit of their lives. She coexisted and learned from Astarea about the other countries for half a century, as well as the basic cultures of each country. While some of the law in Astarea quickly grew to her disliking, she made sure she was familiar with Astarea before journeying to Ithralia. There, she enjoyed the vast landscape and increased freedom. Meeting a couple of unlucky adventurers taught her caution, and while she spent the rest of her time within Ithralia's borders fascinated by its culture and geography, she made periodic journeys back to Astarea every decade to reacquaint herself with her first-impression country. Still, she found Ithralia best to her tastes – despite the thriving adventurer's business and a few dodgy patches of roaming Thularians. The wide landscape and the amount of freedom she experienced was much to her liking.
Personality: Kit tries to avoid combat or confrontations as much as possible, but her rash nature sometimes flings herself headfirst into a fight not initiated by her. She has an easily likable personality and rarely contains her emotions when something excites her. Her mind is usually open and pure, though she's learnt some cunning when dealing with untrustworthy or aggressive beings. While not a true empath like the succubus and incubus race, Kit has learned through enough being and creature interactions the vague state of their current mood. That, and she can usually smell fear.
Equipment/Clothing: Kit travels light, and never seems to wear more than one layer of clothing despite the changes in weather. The most noticeable features of her outfits is that they usually colourfully complement her complexion and fur colour. They have been enchanted to be stored away in a small silver nose-horn ornament when she transforms into her dragon form, and seem to repel dirt (or reappear magically dry-cleaned after each transformation).
Kit is also adorned with various small shinies on her spinal spikes and horns. They are purely decorative, and are likewise stored away in a simple gold pendant in her alternate wolf form save for some of the less precious bracelets and gem hair ties pulling back her white hair.
Colour: Pink
Hope that's not an eyesore. :U
Awesome! Another female! =D Basil must feel lucky... :giggle
Ho boy.. a dragon in a group of three cubi. This should be interesting. ^_^
I highly doubt the enmity of Kit to the succubus race. She's more morbidly curious about the hatred between them rather than outright aggressive in their presence. She's too young to understand any of the ancient war between the two races so far.
Also - she'll most likely be travelling in her alternate form.
Okiedokie, although I don't know if traveling in her alternate form will do much.. Remember how Abel seemed to recognize Pyroduck for what he was on sight? Well.. maybe that was a magic trick. Who knows? ^_^
(besides one very obvious artist, of course. ;) )
Keep also in mind that Kit's mind is always quite open and very naive. Would you outright try to kill a dragon if she practically radiates mental innocence and curiosity?
Garis is an equal opportunity flirter... if she's cute, he'll say hello and not go stabby... XD
It is unclear whether the dragons have it in for 'Cubi in general or just Cyra clan.
As this is happening in a seperate existance from DMFA, it might not be relevant anyway.
... I'll leave that question to our resident cubi. :3
Edit: Gyah! Basi! Corg! Quit jumping out from beneath the rug like that! ><
Rafa would actually be willing to protect Kit if it ever came to that. They're already in the midst of a conspiracy involving demons and angels, the last thing he wants is Dragon-Cubi scuffles to happen as well.
But like Corg said, it might not really play a part anyway.
For the Tari family, I'd say any hatred they have to the 'Cubi race is almost nonexistent. They are more open-minded in that aspect due to their migratory nature. They would avoid direct confrontation to the Cubi race as much as possible, especially if they're aggressive. However, there may have been some... 'disagreements' particularly involving territorial breaches due to their nomadic culture.
As for Pyroduck and Abel - Pyroduck exhibited some distinct draconic/bat-like traits that might've given him away. If Cubi have been trained to spot the tell-tale signs of a dragon's alternate form (and that is probably assumed in DMFA's storyline) then yes, you'd recognise Kit as what she really is straight off the bat.
Basil - Kit's alternate form is a prime female specimen of the wolf being kind. I'm sure that counts towards hawtness of some sort.
Huh, I seemed to have forgotten about Kit's dresscode and equipment section. Editing!
In the setting of this RP, there aren't any large, open organizations of dragons to make them a substantial political unit. A combination of their low reproductive rate, aka, not a lot of them, combined with them generally having large, fragile egos, which prevents them from co-operating, means that they really don't wield a lot of power in this locale. Now of course, individual dragons can be quite powerful, but they tend to be quite reclusive as well. Most Cubi congregate in either Narukh (which can barely be called a country as they really don't have any rule of law.), or Astarea. Dragons on the other hand, don't congregate in large numbers, they tend to stay by themselves in the wilderness. There are a few in Astarea, but of course, the ones living there don't bear any special hostility towards Cubi. Astarea also has a very effective law enforcement system so conflicts between dangerous creatures can be at least, somewhat easily resolved.
You probably won't run into any NPC 'rare' species until chapter 2, which is a long while off. I do have more info on them in my DM notes, so feel free to ask.
For the unofficial record, let's assume dragons and 'cubi can recognize one another rather easily... like Xellos and Filia can in Slayers.
Mind you, this is not anything official, I do not speak for the comic or artist.
Also, let's not make this a 'cubi - dragons game, there are other of us playing too.
but... Ty is a man... er, male angel... and therefore doesn't attract the attention of the equal opportunist flirter... :P
Whoa, you are a wierd 'cubi... most I know will... well, let's say they are sexually dynamic.
XD wow, my day has just been made.

... Huh, well that just blew my whole character sheet out of the water, despite it's approval :<
I'll leave it as it is anyway. Mainly because I was tempted to make Kit come from a race of pygmy dragons - and by pygmy, I mean dragon standard pygmy... >:3

Not at all, the scope of the RP doesn't take place in the entire world, there are regions outside that aren't really (yet) relevant to the RP's setting. It's not impossible to have characters that come from another region that have simply came over. Only four of the PCs are native to this region, if I recall.
A lot of the lands immediately outside Atharra are largely untamed wildlands, in my map, I did leave land-based passages leading outside Atharra, one to the south in Astarea, one to the north in Thularia, and one to the west in Narukh. The eastern passage in Ithralia is somewhat deceptive, it ends up water-locked shortly after. There are some coastal settlements there, though they're not technically part of Ithralia and they don't really have the option of getting out to the rest of the world by boat travel. (Due to the Mer). The other beyond border lands are largely unnocupied.
What I meant by not weilding a lot of political power, well, is exactly that. Families can stay together, and they can be individually powerful, but there's no large dragon nation with defined borders, legal system, etc. It also doesn't mean that *all* dragons have large, fragile egos, and I would imagine the bonds of family are strong indeed. It just means they don't cooperate well enough to have any defined combined territory.
For your character, I read it as a non-native creature that roams around a lot. Creatures like that, generally don't get themselves into positions to affect the politics of their region, so, I don't see how it blows your character out of the water. Plus, even as far as racial standards go, there are always exceptions, and I really don't like to dictate how PC characters behave. Geography wise, if his first stop was Astarea, he probably came up through the southern border.
That said, I still need to come up with an introduction, I'll PM you when I get an idea.
and thus garis is off doing his man-whore thing... yet again :P

Did Chance drop the inhibitors on the forest floor or take them with her?
She dropped them... but I see where you're going with this >=)
Edit: wait.. maybe I don't.. maybe I replied too late? >_> Or maybe I still have a lot to learn XD.
Yes :D
Yes to what?? >_< ohhh man my brain is leaking now... :B I guess I'll find out ^_^ :boogie
Edit just to not double-post: Awwwww!! Poor Garis, I feel bad for him :< Chance just wants friends :)
I'm afraid I'm going to have to issue a DM-override. Kassin's too far away for Zanfib's teleportation(technically, psychoportation). Please correct this when you can.
Actually, similarly, Raffiele's only around Tyrian and Kassin, but I suppose that doesn't have to be corrected.
Crap! Sorry, just how far did we chase that bugger out? XD *edits*
Personally, psychoportation should not be allowed to exist. Holding the entire molecular structure together, let alone keeping the entire cellular and genetic structure intact, while coordinating two points out of infinity and connecting them flawlessly, is far too daunting a task for any mortal mind (being, creature, or such) to process.
However, that is neither here nor there, my specific question is... Is the rest of the group and demon in excess of 100 meters from Ty and Kassin's position?
It was a few minutes of a high speed chase, I figure the distance is roughly between 1/2 to 2/3 of a mile.

:P Negative, Tyrian does not use teleportation magick. Though most teleportation magics seem to rip holes into reality and bore a tunnel between them... rather than demolecularization of the physical form to thought energy and hurling it through the intervening spaces. Magick is a personally shaped, external force... whereas psionics is a personally shaped, internal force... or some kind of pseudo-babble like that.
Trying to put a finger on how teleportation magic works kind of defeats the purpose, but what the hell. I reckon it's a healthy dose of strong denial in the fact that an individual using such magicks simply 'refuses' to be in their current location and wants to be somewhere else. Strongly. So strongly in fact that magic allows them to do so.
And in the face of psionics, it be more of a limited physical projection (as opposed to the astral version) in a 'you're as fast as your mind functions' kind of travelling fashion, but it would limit them due to strain on the physical body literally being projected. And hence there would be less psionic teleporters and more magical teleporters because magic is easier to abuse the laws of physics with.
Hi!
I've been reading your game, I've never had an account though...I'm really a noob at forum's and what not.
I was wondering though, could I join too?
I did set my insanity limit to 7, but to be fair, I never did close this. Regardless, I would be willing to allow another in.
If you create a character before murmer's character joins in, I can have you two come in with the same event, which would save me a large headache.
You can't have many marbles left, Kobra. ;)
Well, I planned on closing it after Ketet came in, but I do think 8 should be manageable. I think 9 might be a bit beyond what I can take at the moment, so I'd probably close with another application, or Ketet's entrance.
Plus, where the players are going, it's going to get harder to include new members. For instance, getting someone attached in Pauperta would be an absolute nightmare on my part for several reasons, and I don't think the other danger zones are much better in that regard.
Hey Zuki! Glad you're giving forums a try. If you've familiarized yourself with the rules section of this forum you should have no trouble fitting in, newbie or not. They have very good suggestions for how to do things, and if you need any character sheet help or whatnot, it's also good to check in the other forum threads (as well as this one) for ideas - or even one of us will be able to help ya with that (like, sample our character sheets we've drawn up.).
I - as a new forum 'oldie' (used to come on these forums. Somehow I know Llearch!) - welcome you!
Oh thank you so much for letting me join! I really do appreciate it! Here is my character sheet, I hope it is all right! I've played a lot of D&D so I based it off that. I hope its ok!
Murmer, I did read the rules and I read over the story line of the game as well. Thank you for the warm welcome though and if I have any questions I will be sure to ask! Thanks!!
Name: Chiyo from the house of Alura.
Age: 212
Gender: Female
Race: Cat/Cubi
Appearance:
Chi weighs in at a whopping 119 pounds and stands at 5'2" when she stretches. She is calico in coloring, white fur covering her while little patches on her tail and body are a mixture of black and a light orangey tan. She has a small patch of orangey tan fur to the left of her nose that appears to be a smudge, but is simply an awkward colored spot, a beauty mark almost. Her left ear is the same orange/tan color while her right ear is complete white. She has long black hair that she either lets hang free or has up in a decorative bun of some sort. Despite her body being mostly white, her wings are black when she has them out. Her clan symbol is a soft lilac color on her chest over her heart, easily hidden by the clothes she wears. Her eyes are silvery blue. She has a rather long tail for her short size, the fur fluffier at the end and it always seems to have a little curl to it. It is her most favorite part of herself.
Abilities:
Flight: She can fly, but rarely does.
Magic: Chi was never good at offensive magic. In fact, she states over and over that she is a lover and not a fighter. A sword looks awkward in her hand and daggers are just as useless. The same goes for magic. She is no good at firing missiles or magic towards anyone with the intent to harm. What she is rather proud to be good at is defensive magic. She can hold a shield better then most and is quite talented when it comes to magical webs to stop beings from chasing after her. She can make loud and bright 'explosions' that are rather harmless, but they are also good to disorient beings enough to get away. She can perform simple magic, such as lifting an item and bringing it towards her and exceptionally good at seemingly making herself 'disappear'. The more people she tries to hide, though, the easier it is to detect.
Healing: Chiyo can heal minor/moderate wounds but anything above that she is helpless to fix, but even the moderate wounds she is rather unstable with. She depends more on her knowledge of nature to fix things. She dabbles in alchemy and given enough trial and error and time, she can create different sorts of potions rather then rely on her shaky healing.
Tinkering: She enjoys figuring out how things work. Put a lock in front of her and she will eventually figure out how to open it. She likes to invent things but she normally isn't very good at it. What she is good at is taking things a part and putting them back together, and while most of the time the item in question works after she's done, there are always a few nuts and bolts left over that she has no idea where they came from.
Emotion: Being from the Alura clan, she is drawn to thrill and anxiety, but she herself has developed a keen awareness of happiness in others.
Faults:
Chiyo is a horrible kleptomaniac. For all her intentions to do good she usually ends up messing things up by stealing things. She is largely attracted to things that sparkle, whether they be rocks or diamonds. She has little need for them, but she enjoys looking at and having her 'treasures'. She is also drawn to the thrill of the theft and afterwards, the regret and anxiety of being caught and loosing friends over it.
Background:
Chi is the daughter of a well of Incubus and was taught well, sent to the best schools and given every chance at success. She excelled in things she had an interest in and ignored other things that she probably would have been good at has she studied a little more. Despite having everything she could possibly want, her little 'problem' ended up getting her into more and more trouble as time went on. Since she could never quite stop her guilty little habit she ended up leaving home so that she wouldn't be an embarrassment to her clan or family anymore.
Personality:
Shy at first, she easily warms up to people rather quickly. She is a good being at heart but because of her problem she is often pushed into the 'bad' category of things. She is a lover, not a fighter, and she has been called a coward many times for not fighting. But she excels in after battle scenarios, taking care of injured and defending those who can't defend themselves.
She is often thought of being much younger then she really is because of her curiousness in all things and her lack of taking any sort of responsibility.
She is happy and positive almost all the time but she had a lot of sadness and frustration she hides. She is always friendly to other people though, even when she doesn't know them. She is likable and charismatic, which gets her out of jams more often then a sword ever could.
She is logical as well, thinking things over before running into action. She tends to be too trusting in people though, which has gotten her burned quite a lot in the past.
Possessions:
Black cotton pants that nearly drag on the ground as she walks and a white long sleeved dress shirt that flares out at her waist and wrists. It is a high collared shirt that has silver buttons that can be undone but she almost always has it buttoned the whole way. She wears a simple silver chain necklace with no pendant on it and has a well worn but acceptable black cloak. She has a dagger at her hip but its all for show. It almost never leaves its sheath. In fact to the disappointment of many beings that know how to wield such a finely made weapon, she uses it to cut ropes and pry open jammed doors more then defense or offensive fighting. She has a small sack placed at her other hip that holds a small rations kit and thieves tools but is enchanted. She can store more then her own weight of things in it and they seem to disappear for everyone other then herself. It is not limitless though and she has to empty it out if she puts too much in it. The enchant is discreet but if anyone knows what to look for they can figure it out easily enough.
Color: I was hoping for a pale purple, but it wasn't an option, so I picked Lime Green. But then I looked at it and saw its really close to the other green used, so any color that's easiest on you is fine with me. :D Thanks, I hope this is alright!
Another female, feline cubi.. oh man Garis is gonna be one happy incubus. XD
Great description! I just noticed that in the magic section you got the terms offensive and defensive turned around is all. ^_^ Beyond that, welcome to the party!
hahahahaha which is why she will be staying out of battle. :P thanks for that though!

I can see Ketet and Chiyo squabbling over the next shiny they encounter... Also, embarrassing antics will ensue if she ever steals Ketet's magical - and shiny - pendant.
EDIT: or any of Kit's various shinies, for that matter...
Character approved, welcome aboard, I'll be sending you a PM as to how your character comes in shortly. (I hope)
Anyways, as far as color goes... any preferences among these : ?

On a side note, RP is now closed.
Works better if you edit the first post, Kobra. I fixed it for you.
I would like to suggest that we not do the black one. Ever.
I second this notion, and propose that any who do be tarred, feathered, and then forced to watch badly dubbed anime.
Lol I didn't even see that there was a black one there. I looked and was like hrm, there is a space. Ok. So definately not the black!
I'll stick with the lime green one if that's ok. Green is my favorite color! :D
Thanks llearch.
Lime Green it is then.
Awesome!! Three females!! We could have some fun ladies! The men shall be our slaves! :mwaha
actually, with all the hot guy 'cubi being the rage right now, I reckon it'd be turned the other way...
but Garis seems to be the only one actively flirting... which is what will make the ensuing situation all the more amusing...

Edit to avoid double-posting ^^: Bravo Tipod! ^_^ I'm sorry but I'm going to tressure that first encounter between Raf and Chance! XD Simply.. awesome... :boogie (even though I know it wasn't for mine, nor anyone else's benefit.. I still enjoyed it ^_^)
lol I love Raffiele's attitude!! Sorry, reading that post made me giggle, I loved it!
No need to apologise! :giggle Fun times lay ahead :boogie
It's fun to write for Rafa like that; he's basically a huge prick to everyone around him and I'm surprised they take it so well :U I'm waiting for someone to break and finally slug him.
Wanna takes bets on who gets slapped first? Zanfib or Rafa? :P
I say Garis, by a woman who doesn't appreciate his attention :p
but so far he's just been harmlessly flirting... besides... if Garis tired to slapRafe, it'd probably be a full on throttled against a tree, being lifted off his feet by his neck rather than a "shut up and be nicer"
and if it's zanfib... well, Ked will probably be the one to slap the Psion... :P
Physical violence isn't really Kedered's style for people that he's irritated with. He's more likely to just be incredibly condescending and abrubpt.
Yah, you could imagine a battle between Kedered and Zanfib like a clash of the egos. All talk no real substance. XD
I'm suspecting it's either gonna be Chance or Tyrian to snap on the ringtail. XD
Ohhhh yeah.. bring it! *bounces her fists around*
*dies laughing*
Tyrian's only concern is his self-adopted little brother. So long as no one does anything obvious to cause him harm, he does not care much about what you all do. He is even tempered, so it would be hard to anger him too severely.
Well this is Zanfib and Rafe we're talking about here. ;)
Well for Zanfib... and those whose concept is more important to them than the plot, as long as he is harmless we have no problems.
Rafe on the other hand, it is angels and demons after all... Ty will react with sudden, deadly force if Kassin is in danger.
It is all moot anyways and I would prefer to avoid conflict, player verse player would end badly. We all think we are our own top dog, star act... etc., it would just be a clash of the egos. Egos are no fun.
I have some silly bad news.
Apparently, my parents decided to spontaneously send me overseas to Myanmar (Burma) from the 26th June to the 10th July. I'm sorry it's such short notice, but since Kit hasn't been introduced yet, I hope it's not too late to let you guys know about it. I won't be able to have internet access in that allotted time, but Kobra, if you're still happy to let me play when I've come back, I'd still like to participate in this RP.
Sorry about that.
Ick, sorry to hear that. :<
Oh well, I hope you enjoy your time there, regardless.
Anyways, RP wise, the PCs are very close to the point where Ketet and Chiyo would be introduced. One of the options I could explore, if we get there in time, is to have the short join-in sequence, and then have Ketet silently mill along. Not a great solution, but it does save me the trouble of doing another join in at some unspecified time in the future. Another thing I could do is make another join-in sequence somewhere else along the line, but it's a lot more trouble on my part. Hopefully, if things get moving, we could have Ketet introduced tomorrow or on the 23rd, which gives you the 24th and 25th to participate. At the moment it looks like the best solution to me, but I'll need a bit more time to think about it, and to see how things play out.
Of course, any advice on the matter would be appreciated.
Well that puts a turd on things... :< at least it isn't for the whole summer ^_^
Oh, and Kobra.. just so you know Chance only has her back wings... unless her head wings suddenly appeard without her knowing.. which I guess could happen.. I don't think it's always a painful experience >:3 (That.. and considering everything happening and her not using magic for some time it would almost be prime time for it to happen anyways.. *shrugs* let me know what you think)
Wuffnpuff:
Whoops, I edited my post.
I edited my last post just a bit >_< forgot a tidbit of something.
Ehhh, I also totally forgot to mention I live in Australia, haha.
Apparently, if you all are americans or in that region, I'm ahead of you by 13-16 hours. I apologize if I miss my post. Kobra, I'll PM my introduction post in case I don't end up getting online in time.
Wait a second.... I'm a bit confused here. Who is going to the farmhouse where we suspect adventurers? I was under the sort of impression it was just Chance and Kedered...... but the reactions from Eilan and Tyrian seem to imply that most of us are going there.
There are two 'targets'. One is the Darrins farmhouse, which Eilan wants to investigate, the other is a hut he spotted, which he thinks is abandoned. Myself, I was under the impression that it would be Eilan, Kedered, Garis and (possibly) Chance investigating the farmhouse, with the others going after the allegedly abandoned hovel.
P.S. Murmer's given me some guidelines and an introductory post, so if she can't post when it comes time, I'll be managing her character while she's away. I hope this is okay with everyone.
It's cool with me. :boogie
Heh, looks like I can't make it to my introductory post. I hope I gave enough to give you enough work-way with my character. I've got a few hours left before I have to leave internect connection behind...
*sniff*
See you in two weeks or so!
:cry it sucks, I'm sorry, but no worries we'll be here when you get back! =D

Dibs!!
her stuff corgi and ghost, her stuff... we're adding 2 new female characters... which means the party is going from a total brodeo to almost 50/50 male to female :P... A good day to be play as Garis methinks
*whispers to Kobra that a bizarre and humorous accident should befall Garis to render him permanently female*
*facepalms* Ghost... come closer... i've got a secrete for you... are you ready for this... it's completely earth-shattering... you might actually die from the shock value of the this information...
:shapeshifters
Reread my post.. and pay very close attention to a particular word..
Permanently.
aka: no shapeshifiting for joo!
if the GM would invoke such an act, i would have to request the removal of Zanfib's psychic talents, permanently... as such a hamstringing to my own character would require an equally brutal crippling to the one who would suggest such a move...
But when has Zanfib used his psionic abilities for flirtatious purposes? Or gone about chasing anything (and everything!) bearing the female gender?
Now, if Zan suddenly got zapped into the estrogen side of things, Chance would have a field day. XD
*pokes wuff mercilessly*
chhh... he's only done it so far because he's only run into cute girls... he can't help it that every creature so far has been attractive... besides, his shapeshifting is the cornerstone of his combat and out-of-combat abilities, much like zanfib's psychic powers. Removing his ability to shapeshift is debilitating to the character as he suddenly looses roughly 75% of his means to defend himself, as well as his primary skill he's trained in... what he uses it for is completely his choice yes... but it doesn't change the fact that Garis is a shapeshifter, and that is what he's trained in.
IC updated, Chiyo(Zuki) and Ketet(murmer) are in. As a note, posts made from Ketet's perceptions will be in pink, until murmer returns. I've been given guidelines and will try to follow those to the best of my ability.
And no, I'm not going to try and pull one of these (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0234.html) on Garis,... well, I don't have it planned for the moment anyways. :P
Basi, if we find any magic belts, Zanfib is NOT putting them on. :P
Say... I wonder if Zanfib won't wear it then if Garis could... wait.. nevermind *runs away* \o/
I probably should have clarified this sooner, but the demoness is outside. Aka, if you're looking at her, you can't directly see who/what is inside.
If you're talking about Chance.. she walked back into the hut :)
AND I AM LE BACKS!
Sorry for making you all wait so long. Thanks to Kobra for stalling with a moping Ketet. I enjoyed every moment of that.
Ssscchhheeeeeeet! Welcome back ^_^
Sorry it took so long to post, but it's been breaking a hundred degrees out here and I'm in a house with no AC.
That, and I've been pretty distracted with Prototype.
Curse you Prototype! *shakes fist*
Just to throw something out there - Basilisk, you're going to have one completely smitten little dragon on your hands. Just so you know :3
i don't think Garis will mind... :P
:giggle I can't wait! hehe. I wonder what would pop out from a 'cubi and a dragon... >:3
Don't start thinking about babies right now, honey. Kit has about 800 years or so more before she actually ovulates...
Though they tend to start looking for mates much early on in life...
Hehe, just makes more time for fun >:3 *flees*
Alrighty. I was talking over with Kobra, and here's the chant. I want to have Ked talk over with Kassin. The problem is, if we havce a query or two at a time, and then a pause so other people can interact, it could take years before we're out of this stupid hut. Anyway, I was wondering if it would be ok with you guys if we just worked out the questions and answers between ourselves, and put the entire exchange into one or two posts.
Best wishes,
Corgatha Taldorthar.
fine by me...
I object, but mainly because someone needs to be obstinate and because it's Corgatha.
The main objection I could see is of course, that players might want to have their characters interrupt during their conversation, and wouldn't if we went through with this. Of course, they could poke at Kassin after the events, based on what he might say. And of course, I'd halt the exchange if either did something drastic, like making something explode, for example (which I don't think will happen, but you never know..).
It's a hard balance I have to measure, leaving things open to exploration like this can slow things down, yet, rushing too much would prevent players from taking initiative, which could lead to missing something crucial. Obviously, I like to 'auto' PCs as little as possible.
1 For, 1 Against (unless it was sarcasm, if it was, I apologize.). Does anyone else have any opinions on the matter? I'm comfortable doing it either way.
I'm for it, since it means Rafa could get even more suspicious at Ked :U
As a side note, sorry for not posting as often; work started up, getting surveys and library files all nice and orderly. On the plus side, I made a few hundred bucks.
I'm cool with it - there's only so many time Chance can go around hugging and poking people XD... maybe.. :giggle
Just as a note, this text in Corg's post is mine, twas easier to condense it into one post that way.
I think it also serves as a nice plot recap for our new players...
Just a reminder, non-telepaths cannot recieve thoughts from mental communication. (So Ketet wouldn't be able to hear Zanfib's mental message, Kassin couldn't earlier.). Please correct this when possible.
Thanks,
T1K
Going to quakecon, be back sunday night!
Absence noted. Have fun, and try not to get shot too much :P.
On another note, has anyone seen Zuki lately?
Just a notification: Due to the passing of my Grandmother, I will likely be out of contact with the internet from Monday August 17th through Thursday August 27th. I will be traveling to the island of Kauai in Hawaii and I am not sure of my internet availability in these areas.
Hey all! I am sorry I haven't been around or posted a note about where I have gone but I've finally had a day off during the day and can make it to library and fight my way to a computer to post a note.
Two weeks ago I moved from my old apartment to my new house I'm renting for school. I can walk to all my classes now, yay for saving gas money! But the people that were renting the house before me just moved out and they haven't turned off their cable and net bill yet. We have comcast and I've called them several times about this and they can't do anything until the previous renters call and cancel. They wont let me cancel it because my name and social security number isn't on the account.
What this means is that for the past two weeks or so I have had no internet connection and I wont be getting one until the people call and cancel their gosh darn account. I've tried to get in touch with my land lord but so far he doesn't know where the last renters went too. So I'm out of luck there.
Normally I'd take my lap top to my college (go go free internets) but its summer right now and the buildings are closed up for maintance and crap like that before the new fall term begins.
The public library has a few computers (what i'm using now) but its hard to get one, you have to wait around alot and I work during the day so its pretty hard to log on.
Hopefully by the end of august when school starts up again I will be on and hopefully before that the stupid people call Comcast and cancel their service!
I'm sorry to hear about that Az, take as long as you need.
Thanks for letting us know Zuki.
I'll give you both a summary of what's happened when you get back.
Absences noted.
And I am back! So I was FINALLY able to get ahold of the past renters about three days ago and the paid their bill and shut it off and the comcast guy just left so I now have cable and nets again! yay!
I will be getting back to posting soon. Trying to catch up on a lot of different things. If I can, I'll try and figure out where I am and what has been going on, but that will take a bit.
Ketet is hoping for a 'good cop, bad cop' type of outcome! But then again, those videos and TV shows won't be out until a lot later... :<
Quote from: Ghostwish on September 05, 2009, 11:50:00 AM"Buggering hell." Zanfib muttered, before promptly vanishing. He had set his concentration just ahead of the fleeing being, reappearing just far ahead of the poor fellow to give him enough time to come to a sliding halt. He turned slowly, to face him, and then took advantage of the fellow's momentary confusion to reach forward, and place his paw on the being's forehead. "I apologize, but this is for your own good." He said, and set about a quick but delicate process..
Few could appreciate the skill and precision it took to render someone unconscious without killing them. It takes just the right amount of energy in the right places at the right intervals to do so, and the slightest miscalculation could result in dire consequences, be it outright failure, or harming the subject. It's actually much easier to out right kill someone's mind them to force them to sleep in many cases. Luckily for the being, Zanfib's mentor was no fool, and was careful to teach the ringtail the many tactics for and dangers of toying with another's mind.
As such, Zanfib was careful to catch the poor fellow as he was rendered unconscious, so as not to aggravate his injuries any further. With an annoyed sigh at the events that had transpired, Zanfib promptly teleported inside of the igloo with the being in tow.
God-modding is prohibited, please correct the highlighted sections when possible.
To be specific, the problem with the first highlighted section is that it plays out the reaction of someone aside from your character that didn't already happen.
The second one assumes that the attempt works in the way described, and gives no room for complications/resistance/etc... or other forms of DM output.
Just giving notice. I will be offline during Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, (Evening of the 18th to the evening of the 20th, and the evening of the 27th to the evening of the 28th respectively; all times eastern standard). I hope this will not inconvenience the RP too seriously.

Please correct this when possible. (It's Tyrian IC, Azlan OOC).
Thanks.
I could play Azlan instead...
I hate to post double in a thread that isn't mine, but...
The fox is sick, so I will be a bit slow to respond.
Oops sorry about that. That must've been the day where I only had about 2 hours' sleep due to crazy assignments all due in the next day...
Edited belatedly!
Activity seems to have slowed recently... I've been fairly busy with finals myself,.., though I'm just checking to see if everyone is still here.
Dragon Age is eating time... fox may be slow to respond.
heh, i'm still around, not sure how the others are doing though... this tends to be a very distracting and busy time of year :/
Golly gee I'm sorry >_< Yeah.. been busy.. live with the in-laws now.. >.> hectic.. ahh!! >_< still no excuse. I'll get something going!
I might be a bit busy during the holidays, so sorry if I'm slow to respond for the next few weeks, but I'll try to keep this going. Activity has slowed a bit though... so I'm doing a check up to make sure you're all still breathing, etc...

Still alive, last final was last Thursday. I'm helping family out, but I should be more able to post sometime tomorrow.
Sorry, I've only had short bursts of online time lately >_< having to borrow it and all.. I don't have to work tonight so I should have something up.
Thanks for being so patient ^^ and happy holidays! =D
Well, it seems that this particular RP has entered into a semi-unofficial hiatus.
But, exams are over (for now), so, this is a roll call to start up again. (Hopefully)
Anyways, post here if you're still active. (Or ICly, to let me know).
I'll probably open this up in a week or so if players have dropped out.
I am here, waiting really, for tipod to post.
Aye, still around here, just trying to work up the muse to act in character for Garis...
Well, roll call time is up, those who have not replied (Azlan, Ghostwish, Murmer, Zuki) have been moved to 'timed out' status. So I'm opening this up to replace the dropped players. Rather than have an elaborate entrance scene, I'll glue the players right in, pretending they were there all along, with Kassin at the Willow. I'll give a brief plot summary below for new players.
P.S. About Chiyo's illusion: since the player is no longer active, I'm going to have it removed from the characters it's on after you've left the orphanage.
Summary:
It all went wrong, one night. You stopped at an inn called the Whistling Willow. At nighttime, all asleep, the place was attacked. Caught completely unaware, you were soon knocked out. Bursts of magical energy reduced the place to rubble, killing many inside. You woke up to a snowy sunrise, you were pulled out of the rubble and healed by a young angel named Kassin Starshine.
On the road back to civilization however, disaster continued to strike. You later found out that Kassin, and everyone he had saved at the Willow, had somehow attracted the ire of some power in Ithralia, and now you are wanted for crimes that neither you nor Kassin committed(IFF you're not a being), and now you're hunted by everyone in the country wanting to turn your head in for a reward. Worse yet, you seem to have attracted the ire of a warlord in Narukh, Nakata Firestorm of the Claws of Fire, who wants to capture Kassin and wants you dead. You've also come to the conclusion that you've attracted special ire of the Thularian military, you think they're behind the bounty postings. Worse, they've set up a blockade to Astarea, preventing you from easily escaping into that country. You are stuck in hostile territory, surrounded by enemies on all sides.
With no other options available, you've taken to investigating the crimes which you've been falsely accused of. There were three soul murders in particular, a cubi child in a mansion off to the east, a family of farmers in western Ithralia, and another in a city named Pauperta, off in south Ithralia. You've decided to investigate the family of farmers first.
While at the farmhouse, there were a few pieces of information that you discovered, one is that the family found some sort of odd research paper, that's now gone missing. The second is that there was a third child who wasn't murdered. After finding and interrogating the child's uncle, you've arrived at a place called Moriarty's orphanage, and the child, Avair Darrins, may be inside.
However, getting inside hasn't proved easy. The person at the front desk, an idiotic bunny named Threeb, is quite intent on denying you access...
Sorry for my prolonged absence all. Life has been, erm, 'interesting'.
Welcome back, regardless.
I've removed you from 'timed-out' status.
Light Tipod, what a mess. I'm sorry, I truly am. But I can't think of any other action Kedered could take and remain in character. He's been cross purposes to Raffiele since pretty much the first hour they were both conscious, and to be honest, there's no real benefit, from his perspective and to further Kassin's safety, to keeping what he sees as a demon of dubious loyalty within close proximity to the party.
I don't want to be cross purposes, but I also couldn't come up with an action within the bounds of an established personality and behavior pattern. To be honest, I'd love for Raffiele to escape the blade, but I don't really see a way out :S
Why you I oughta--
To be honest, I don't mind since it's not like it came out of the blue and, honestly, I was kind of expecting this outcome. I'll try to get a post up tomorrow, but school's been a pain in my ass for the past few weeks between bio and geography.
Yeah, I know how that feels, I've only got 1 final left, but I've been busy.
Personally, I don't see too many ways out of this for Raffiele, however, I do have some sympathy in this current situation, since he didn't get to post between two of mine/Corg's. I do share the dilemma as well, I don't want to lose you as a player, but I don't see too many ways in which Raffiele can get out of being killed. I do see two solutions for this:
1: I could DM-override Corg's latest post, and allow Tipod to have a 'right-of-way', on posting. In this, Raffiele might (though probably not) say something to convince Eilan and Kedered to keep him alive, or perhaps just delay it. Of course, if Raffiele doesn't, then there's nothing stopping Ked from just cutting his head off later.
2: Role with the punches, Raf dies, roll up a new character, and I'll find a way to glue him in later. (I'm not sure if I'd be comfortable 'un-personing' him in.) Problem with this is it puts Tipod on something of a delay, since there will be some lag in the approval/glue-in process.
Either way, I'm open to suggestions.
Seems like he painted himself into a corner that is rather tough. Granted, you did hand him the brush... but he chose the colors. There is quite the analysis that could be levied, but I think it boils down to an inevitable situation.
Well, I try to work through incentives. I'm never going to force a player's character to behave in a certain way, though I do try to make it so that actions have consequences to them.
In the end, we decided on an IM conversation that there was nothing Raffiele could have done to save himself, so we've settled for killing him off and putting up a new character. I'm in the process of figuring out a way to glue him in.
P.S. Tipod, you're free to post your new character up btw.
From the PM, to your eyes.
Name: Bart Thom'sen
Age: 98
Gender: Male
Height: 6 feet, 1 inch
Weight: 195 pounds
Eye color: Dark red
Species: Demon, vaguely reptillian
Physical description: Relatively brawny and proportioned like your stereotypical hoodlum, Bart's overall frame is nothing particularly imposing. However, up close his form is disconcerting: very dark and rough flesh, hands which taper off into three-inch claws, prominent eyes, a mouth not unlike a small beartrap with assorted canines, and a lack of ears, hair, or nose. He carries himself rather casually, slouching and stretching his legs out whenever possible, and assumes an vaguely simian posture when moving quickly or fighting. No sign of wings, horns, or prehensile trail, but does sport a white Thom'sen family branding on his right bicep.
Born out of wedlock between a Thom'sen mother and a father from the dogmatic demon Clan Jacobii, young Bartholomew would have been a healthy little canine Creature like his cousin Raffiele, but Jacobii would have none of it. Cursed from birth by their petty magics, Bart came out as an implacable monster, still demonic but with a bizarre lack of animalistic features. The Thom'sens dropped the issue immediately rather than risk an open feud by challenging Jacobii custom and authority.
As he grew older, Bart took more to doing the marshal-side of things in family territories, mainly keeping the peace and shoving people around when they asked for it. Occasionally, he would attack being caravans under the convincing guise of "Ded'ae Body," an undead spirit angered by the presence of the opulent and aloof. Such activities usually ended with caravan guards being knocked unconscious or painfully disarmed, and the cargo being stolen and promptly thrown into the nearest river or off a cliffside. Though fun, Bart's regiment was nothing more than a timewaster.
With nothing else to do as diplomatic talks kept rival clans from knocking at the Thom'sen compound's front door, Bart has taken to asking around for his favorite cuz, Rafa, and see about taking a camping trip with Uncle Adil. After all, everyone needs a break from politics and constant danger now and again.
Personality: Casual and humorous, Bart often mingles quite well with anyone who isn't a complete monster. He is not quick to anger, doesn't pry into people's business, and can usually read someone's mood unless they're being obtuse. Like his cousin, Bart doesn't harbor much ill-will towards any particular species with exception to angels, feeling that they're manipulative and snide. Even then, a good angel will get a pass in his book.
Abilities: Like others in his family, Bart is gifted with great regenerative prowess and the typical demonic strength and reflexes, as well as a mystical affinity for fire; there's nothing he enjoys more than setting himself ablaze when fighting a particularly grabby opponent.
Unfortunately, that's where his advantages end. While he has a certain knack for pyromancy, the most he can do with it is set himself on fire and not be burned. Any other magical art is completely lost upon him. His regenerative powers also have their limits, as decapitations and any shot that pierces the brain are impossible to recover from.
Possessions: Padded leather armor with metal inserts, heavy slacks, boots, iron facemask, backpack, hatchet, dagger, sewing kit, assorted stamped coins of silver and gold, family bible, dried food, 20-foot coil of rope, white facepaint.
Color: Yellow (because hey, why not?)
Just putting up here that while I'm following the IC thread, Ked doesn't really have anything else to say to Eilan, and since we walked out quite a bit to do our interrogation/execution thing, I'm pretty sure by the time we got back, the guys who are doing the fire stuff would have resolved stuff, one way or the other. So please, don't feel a need for my input until we can get Eilan and Kedered back to the orphanage.
Zanfib is saving small children.. Garis is murdering half-bit caretakers... and Chance is burning down orphanages...
Any more contestants in the alignment shift game? :P
Based strictly on your descriptions there, an outsider would deduce:
Zanfib: Chaotic Good
Garis: Chaotic Neutral
Chance: Chaotic Evil
That's horribly biased reporting on events now... seriously.

Cower in fear!
Name: Orenio F. Hatûk.
Age: 29.
Gender: Male.
Height: Four feet, ten inches.
Weight: 210 lbs.
Species: Were, meerkat.
Physical description:
- Furre: Short, but stocky; powerful muscles stand out along legs, arms, and shoulders. Fawn fur, with silver horizontal stripes of various lengths going from the base of his tail to his shoulder blades. Black rings surround his eyes, which are a light brown color with small pupils; a pointed face; a thin, two foot long tapering tail is the same color of his fur, with the exception of a brown tip. Brown hair, turning gray in places, is kept short and in a swept back style. Small, black ears.
- Human: Dark brown skin; brown, swept back hair graying in places; well built upper body muscles. Silver horizontal stripes of various lengths travel from the base of his spine to his shoulders. Pointed nose, with sunk-in brown eyes, thin lips, and a weak chin. Small ears.
- Primal: A small, sleek, mongoose-esque creature, about eleven inches long, with a thin seven inch tail, tapering to a point. Fawn fur, with silver horizontal stripes along its back. A patch of brown fur atop its skull, with black rings around its eyes. Tiny paws end in short claws.
- Clothing(Furre/Human applicable only): Simple cloth shoes with a stiff sole. Red pants with drawstrings at the waist and leg holes; the legs tied at the base of the calves. Loose red long sleeved shirt. Canvas satchel bag slung over left shoulder, to hang at right hip.
Biography: Orenio was born into a small mob of other meerkat Weres, spending much of his life underground, expanding the mob's network of tunnels, foraging, and attempting not to draw the attention of his sometimes neurotic parents. The first thing of note to happen to or around Orenio is when he purposefully did not alert his older brother to an impending cave-in, which resulted in said brother's death. He quickly escaped from the mob before they could fully learn of his actions, which would likely have resulted in a painful execution. Orenio became a wanderer, careful to not reveal too much about himself to anyone in case his family was tracking him down.
Personality: Orenio is emotionally unstable. He lacks social confidence, and thus doesn't talk or stand up for himself in a conversational sense. He has a healthy respect for authority, and while he doesn't trust easily, once earned, it is very firm. Orenio takes everything with a grain of salt, and has a pessimistic view on people in general. He is fiercely territorial of his personal property, his person, and the duties typically assigned to him; while he might not get physical with every infringement, he can be scathing, snippy, or downright mean. He recognizes that what he did in regards to his brother was wrong, and feels sorry for it, to the point he will not complain of physical pain or discomfort, out of a sense of self-loathing.
Abilities: Orenio can change forms, like all Were, at will. His Human form grants him immunity from magic, while retaining bipedal motion, and possible thumbs. His furre form gives him access to magic, while not being very precise with it, but having the benefit of bipedal motion, and possible thumbs. The Primal form gives him powerful magic, and the natural swiftness of his species. He is also a talented cook, and forager, though his food is rarely appetizing to others. Orenio can cast the much more simple spells (first degree, array-less barrier, dispel) without any preparation, and sometimes without vocalizing his spell. The more complex spells can take between twenty seconds, and two minutes to prepare, and then must be vocally spelled into being. Orenio has the innate ability to time how long he can maintain a barrier given any situation. His formal repertoire of spells is as follows:
- Earthen Embankment; 1st, 2nd, and 3rd degrees: This spell in the first degree creates a slab of rock, the exact dimensions of which are dependent on the energy dedicated to the spell, to act as a physical barrier between the caster and an offensive force. The second degree rises five slabs simultaneously to guard from multiple directions or reinforce a single direction. The third degree raises a curved slab, to create a dome of solid rock around the user.
- Barrier (no array): A simple energy barrier that can be shaped into various forms. While having no outstanding weaknesses, it has no noteworthy strengths either.
- Barrier (Lotus Array): Two dozen shaped barriers oriented around the caster. The barriers are shaped to resemble lotus petals, and can close or open in a similar manner. When closed, the combined barriers create an airtight environment around the caster. While closed, the caster runs the risk of asphyxia; the barrier array is vulnerable to fire magic. While open, this barrier array can be used as a boat. All the barriers are linked, so if one petal fails, they all fail.
- Barrier (Mirror Array): A single shaped barrier, designed to return all offensive energy to the point of origin. Cannot be programmed to differentiate friend from foe. Can be overloaded by a single powerful attack, or many weaker ones.
- Barrier (Square Array): Creates a wall made of no less than twenty-five, and no more than fifty six-inch square barriers connected by magic. This barrier is mean to diffuse the energy from physical attacks by transferring them from square to square then out into the air. Not meant to block magical attacks. Each barrier is independent of the others, allowing the array to survive a few squares failing; but increases the mental strain of maintaining the array.
- Barrier (Hexagon Array): Creates between four and eight linked hexagonal barriers, one foot long and five inches wide. This array is meant to neutralize magical energy by moving it between the barriers then out into the air. Not meant to block physical attacks. Each barrier is linked, so if one fails, they all fail. Prone to overloading due to frequent use.
- Barrier (Room Array): This array creates a single shaped barrier that contours to a room's walls and ceiling, adding additional protection to those inside. Can survive having multiple holes punched in it. Does not cover the floor, doorways, or windows. Vulnerable to elemental magic. This spell is on the upper end of Journeyman level, requiring constant attention and at least 30% of the user's total magical energy to use effectively. Once the barrier is damaged, it must be dropped then re-cast to restore full shielding ability; because repairing it while active is a Master level ability.
- Barrier (Perimeter Array): Creates a dome-like barrier around a set perimeter. In default form, it is simple a large array-less barrier, so combining it with other barriers to give it some strengths/weaknesses is recommended. Requires the majority of the caster's attention to maintain. [Note: Orenio can only create a barrier like this with a ten-foot footprint.]
- Vanish, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd degrees: Vanish spells make the user, other people, objects, or magical constructs difficult to spot visually. The first degree renders the target translucent, but will not hide any shadows cast. The second degree renders the target fully transparent, but still does not hide the shadow; in the third degree, the shadow is also covered by the spell. Continuously feeds off the targets energy while in use; reducing the power of any barrier it is cast upon by a factor of 23%. Any Vanish spells below the fourth degree continuously put off a magical aura, which can be minimized with careful control; and it can be defeated through certain ocular enhancement spells, or by dint of genetics.
- Ward (Repel): A simple warding spell, consisting of a circle of drawn magic, then a rune indicating what is to be repelled in the center. This ward emits a field of magical influence that prevents contact of the warded area and the force being warded against. Each individual spell has a cap to the force they can repel, so multiple castings are frequently needed to be effective. Each ward takes a bit of time and preparation, and the ward must be exposed to the force it is supposed to ward against to ensure proper functionality. If the ward is overpowered, it may simply fail, or overload then violently explode.
- Seal (Lock): A simple seal, designed to lock a physical portal (window, door, etc.) from one side, preventing it being opened. Can be overloaded by profound physical force or magical attack.
- Dispel: Negates all or specific spells that the user has previously cast. In order to do that, this spell ruptures the containment of the magical energy sustaining the spell. While designed to disperse the caster's own magic, with some ingenuity, other spells can be disrupted with it; but the odds of success, or even safe disruption are single digit odds for practitioners below Master level.
Strengths Magically, Orenio is focused toward defensive magic: barrier/shield/wards, seals, invisibility. In his furre form, his spellwork is potent, but simple; nothing above journeyman level in sophistication. Orenio is physically strong for his size. He can switch forms quickly, making himself immune to magic attacks one moment, then retaliating with potent magic the next. Orenio is skilled in the usage of knives, and other cooking utensils, as well as cooking in general. His Were genetics give him heightened senses.
Weaknesses: Again, Orenio's magic in furre form is simple. A clever enough mage can work their way around it if they take the time to. He also has a severe lack of offensive and supplementary spells. A lack of confidence leads him to underestimate his capabilities. He can be killed in many of the same ways a Being can; stabbed in a major organ, hemorrhage, poison, etc. He has no experience in hand-to-hand fighting. Orenio is easily stressed. His human form, while granting him immunity from magic, does not grant the area around him the same power, and makes healing magic useless. If rendered unconscious, he will remain in the form he was at the time using.
Possessions: Canvas satchel. Change of clothes x2 (red clothes mentioned above, and similar blue clothes). One large mixing bowl. One medium mixing bowl. One small mixing bowl. Three wooden spoons. One meat cleaver, one bread knife, one pairing knife, one peeling knife, one saw-tooth knife, one large knife, and two medium knives. A whetstone.
Brown.
Note: Edited from version submitted via PM in the following ways:
- Typos fixed.
- List of spells added.
EDIT: Okay, now they're all fixed. :> I think.
EDIT the second: See above; I've structured Orenio's knowledge of magic with the GM's permission.
EDIT the third: A whole slew of new typos fixed.
Ooo, nice. Always wanted to play a were myself. Hope to see you game side soon. ;)
Thank you. :> I hope to see y'all game-side too, so none of you get knife'd; ya hear?
Can't promise that :P
And you watch yourself too, hear?

He reached into his somewhat singed pack, and produced a small, slightly glowing crystal.. It was a store of power for psions, and he carefully siphoned out what was in it. He carefully replaced the crystal back in his bag, and then promptly leaped back out of the frying pan, and into what was the next room in danger of being consumed..
I'm afraid I'll have to override the highlighted sections. Said crystals were never mentioned to me. Please correct this when possible.
Is it bad that I started reading the IC thread of Shattered Innocence and now can't stop? It's like a good book. *Brain om nom nom noms*
This is, and looks like, fun!
To be honest I never would've thought it would reach 28 pages, gott'damn.
And now while everyone is occupied with saving children and burning orphanages, I call dibs on Raffieles bounty xD
The story is very interesting so far :) I'm on page 16 20 at the moment, but I've read the last few pages, too ^^

Edit: So the group consists of 6 people right now? Kassin, Eilan, Kedered, Garis, Zanfib and Chance?
Sorry for double post :<
So... after PMing with The1Kobra and some rewriting here is my character sheet :) (...it's way too long...)
Name: Phoebe Luscinia
Age: 26
Species: Female Phoenix/Mythos; Avian: Indian Blue Robin, Mammal: Genet
Height: 5 ft 11 in (and 16 ft wingspan) in avian form, 5ft 3in in mammal form
Weight: about 100 pounds, 45kg
Appearance:
In both forms she has a slender build and very similar markings: horizontal stripes on the back starting at the head and ending somewhere between the shoulders and hips (the middle stripe going down to the base of the tail), white crescent shaped markings under the eyes and black marks on the cheeks, larger spots on the back, become smaller on the sides and almost no spots on the front, vertical stripes on the tail. She has brown-golden eyes and darkblue hair.
In avian form she is generally more colorful. Her front is yellow, her back is blue. The markings are black on the back and turn more blueish to the front. On the wings she has two colorful eyes (similar to a peacock butterfly) with which she can actually see. They work more like compound eyes than "normal" eyes; they appear rather like a colorful marking but the color makes her mythos-side a lot more obvious.
In mammal form her front is more of a sandy-gray color, turning to gray with a note of blue on her back. The markings are black with a blue shine. The eyes from the wings turn to black eye-shaped marks on the shoulder blades. In light they shimmer in all colors of the spectrum.
Traits:
Changing forms isn't easy for Phoebe. If she changes she will most likely try to stay in that form for the longest possible time. Changing more than twice a day is nearly impossible, on average she changes once a week/fortnight. She can stay in any "in between"-form (e.g. getting the wings, but keeping the long tail), but she has to concentrate very hard not to let it slip to one side or the other. (It is basically like rolling a stone to the top of the hill: it takes a lot of work to get it up, but once you got there, its easy to let it roll down on the other side. Stopping it midway takes a lot of concentration though.) Due to the differences of both forms she will feel very dizzy for the first few minutes after changing and a light feeling of dizziness can stay for several hours afterwards.
In avian form she is taller than in mammal form. This is due to the mass conversion (hollow bones, bigger lungs and air sacks, wings). In her avian form she is very light for her size and with training she should be able to become a really good and fast flier. Also the eyes on the wings can notice very fast movements.
While she is an omnivore, she will tend to eat way less meat in avian form than in mammal form and then mostly insects. (It goes to the point that she rather would change to mammal form to eat red meat than to try it in avian.)
In mammal form her eyes on the back cannot see anymore.
Due to her mythos side she has a longer lifespan, but that is still unknown to her. Under normal circumstances, she should be able to live 2000 years, more if she trains her mythos-side more. (Includes learning how to do more spells, change her form more easily, show more eyes and maybe tons of other stuff xD.)
Abilities:
Phoebe is a decent spellcaster for her age, she has been training her magic abilities for the past 7 years. Like all phoenixes she is naturally good with nature based spells (magic connected to the elements of water, wind, earth, somekind of control over plants (maybe animals, too) and the process of growing and decomposing, basically, anything found in nature, can be magically copied). Her spell-casting abilities don't vary directly with different forms, but as some spells work better with different "shapes" she may choose different spells for the same effect in different forms. She is not able to cast spells while changing forms and with the dizziness directly afterwards it's also hard to cast spells.
Phoebe is also a decent hunter. She has been on her own, wandering the country, for 4 years and has picked up some more skills on the way if she didn't already learn them in school. But although she doesn't mind hunting and killing prey to provide herself with food and tolerates killing of enemies she abhors mindless/useless killing and maiming.
History:
Phoebe was born and has lived all her life in Astarea. Her parents brought her up quite normally and rather on the open-minded side. But with all the goodwill of her parents, Phoebe is a bit on the paranoid side, mostly when alone or lost in thoughts. Once she feels more secure about a specific area/a part of herself/a group, it will be a lot easier for her to "trust" the rest of the setting, too, but up until then, she'll at least constantly check for her backpack.
Once you have gained her trust, she will stay loyal and will open up more. If you start mistreating her or show a personality she doesn't like she will rather get more distant then hostile.
She likes teasing people very much, but she always tries to stay on the good side of a joke, so she doesn't actually hurt someone.
The reason she is currently "running around" is to become more confident with herself and to find out more about magic and being a mythos (She's not supposed to come back home, before she can show another pair of functional eyes somewhere on her body. :))
After slacking a bit in her studies and her general attitude she now wants to get a grip on herself and is very strict with herself. So after a day of self-disciplining she might be rather cranky, but on the whole she is getting back into shape and is quite happy with the results of the last few weeks.
Luggage:
She carries a backpack, with two sets of clothes, one for each form (her "mammal-clothes" are warmer than the "avian-clothes"). She has a frying pan, a set of cutlery, a cup and a very sharp 8 inch long knife. She also has a small bow and arrow quiver and the amount of money a normal worker would earn in 2 days (maybe something like 100$). And finally she has a few friends- and family pictures and a small bag with a few thingies like needles and thread, a pen, some wax, some paper, buttons and a few nice looking stones, she picked up on the way.
Fun Fact:
Phoebe wears a golden earring in her right ear and no one knows where it goes, when she changes her form :)
Color:
what the heck is teal?
I'm really sorry for making you all read this :< If anyone wants to see a "picture" of Phoebe, there is one in my arts thread (it's marked NSFW, you have been warned) :3
And I'm also done with reading the whole story so far ^^
And if anything is horribly wrong with my English, please tell me now, else you'll have to bear with the current level :B

No need to apologize, this is a *very* nice bio. Looking forward to playing with you.
whee, someone else for Garis to mess with... i mean... <<
Anyways, as Corgy already said, looking forward to playing with you
Ah good thing I didn't post the picture of her avian form xD It looks so crooked and off, I'm sure no one would be willing to "mess" with her :3
And maybe I should mention, that I've never done any RPing before. xD But I'm looking forward to it, very much =)
Newly approved and for your eyes only!
Name: Toalacuzlotlixao
Nickname: Zot
Species: Skink Being
Gender: Male
Age: 27
Height: 4'10"
Eye Color: Yellow
Appearance: Zot is quite short by Beings' standards, but distinctly reptilian. He is scaled though his scales aren't thick enough to stop any but the most minor of injuries. His scales are mostly green, but there is brown, yellow, and black mottling down his back from the tip of his snout to the end of his tail. This mottling goes about halfway around his body. He has small claws on his fingers and toes and his tail is prehensile; both of which combine to make him an excellent climber. Like any skink his tail can be pulled off with enough effort, though it will grow back. Also, like the rest of his tribe, he is a vegetarian. Since it is currently winter, and he is from a much warmer climate, he bundles from head to toe in multiple layers of leather and furs which leaves little beyond his eyes visible. (Think dressed like Kenny from South Park)
Personality: He is an idealistic, professional, prudent, religious, gregarious, chatterbox. He is idealistic in the sense that he thinks that the world is inherently good, and if he just tries hard enough, evil will be undone. He takes fighting very seriously, as he firmly believes that simply surviving will be a constant battle until the world changes. He does not kill needlessly though, and tries to make sure that there is proper justification for the taking of anything; life, food, money, etc. To help with this justification he relies a lot on the deeds of- and omens from the Gods. He is gregarious and likes to go out to experience new things and meet new people, though true friendship is reserved for "family." He is a chatterbox because if you talk to him about something he's knowledgeable on, or he feels he has something important to say, and then you'll get an earful, though outside of that he generally holds his tongue. Because of his tendency to move, think, and talk fast many would think him spastic, but there's nothing random about it, he just lives fast.
Abilities: He is very agile and is an accomplished archer and Fletcher. He has a lot of practice surviving in wilderness areas and all of the abilities that come with such experience. He is also a master with a multitude of poisons. His magical abilities are limited to things that allow him to hunt better like camouflage himself, or improve on his considerable archery skill such as turning one arrow into many as he fires, imbue an arrow with an amount of elemental energy, speed up his ability to shoot, enhance his accuracy, increase his range, summon his bow to him, create a flare, or conjure arrows when he pulls his bow (though this is very taxing).
Items: Composite bow enchanted for additional durability and his quiver is enchanted to hold many more arrows that it would appear to, and to produce one of the type he wants on verbal command. It doesn't have an unlimited supply, and he has to fill it himself, but he's highly unlikely to run out of arrows from one fight. A multitude of arrows: Target (plain small rounded tip), Broadhead (large barbed tip), Blunt (bulbous tip for bludgeoning), Bladed (Y-shaped head), Break-away (hollow tip designed to break off inside target while delivering a large dose of poison). A blowgun as a backup weapon. Blowgun darts. A cloak that is enchanted to shift its colors to match its surroundings much like a chameleon; the protection isn't total, but it's pretty good if he doesn't move. Satchel and bedroll. Basic survival tools like a cutting knife and flint and striker. Leathers and lots of furs to keep him warm in this climate. Snowshoes. Extra Bowstrings. Small gourds filled with various poisons. Poisons: Anesthetic, Paralytic, Hemotoxic, Neurotoxic, Hemorrhagic. He has a couple of strengths of each. He also has several stones enchanted to emit heat which he would use for himself, but they are usually tucked in his belt near his poisons to keep them from freezing. These were stolen from somewhere when fall came around the weather started getting colder.
Background: Zot is from a much warmer place far to the south of Atharra. He comes from a jungle climate where his people live in tribes. He grew up as a promising hunter and almost as soon as he was recognized as mature he became a Longsight, or an archer in charge of guarding the few actual open areas in and around the village. Given the environment and the proximity of several cannibalistic tribes his people tend to lead shorter lives, and in an attempt to still fit everything in to their lives they tend to live faster than most beings. When a couple of the nearby cannibal tribes banded together under a warchief he set out travelling to find something to bring back to his people to help them combat them. Early in his journey he came upon and saved lost explorer from a cannibal hunting party, but the explorer was just as fearful of Zot since he couldn't tell the difference between one native and the next. Zot was intrigued by this foreigner and so followed him when he fled. Zot grew even more intrigued when he saw his first real towns/cities as these were obviously powerful people. When no help was forthcoming he stowing away on a ship to find the even more powerful people that some inhabitants mentioned were far to the north. This led him to Atharra where realized that he was in over his head and needed to do something more than just wander around aimlessly hoping that something would fall into his lap. Money seemed like a good place to start, and with the high demand for mercenary work in Ithralia he started adventuring. He is clearly a foreigner so even this has been difficult for him.
Color: Maroon
QuoteHis ear twitched slightly as he counted Garis' stride. One.. Two.. and.. He concentrated mentally.. and then promptly ducked to the side as he reached up, grabbing Garis by both his forearm and the offending tentacle. Then he pulled forward as he crouched ever so slightly, feeling the painful sensation of Garis slamming up against his burnt back.. before promptly rolling the unfortunate cubi over his shoulder, and quite painfully down onto the ground in front of psion. That wasn't the end of it though.. Zanfib immediately straightened up, even as his body protested, and brought his heel up.. before slamming it down on Garis' face.
I'm afraid this is well out of line. Do. Not. Godmod. It's a very simple rule. The actions taken also strain credulity once all factors are considered.
As is, I'm having a bit of trouble deciding what to do next. It's likely that I'll end up offing a character, IC actions having IC consequences and all. I'll decide on what to do tomorrow morning.
Hummm... Let Zanfib get away after beating up Garis up, or let Garis kill Zanfib instead of being beat up.
If my opinion matters then I would say that just by the timing of the posts that Garis is unlikely to kill Zan outright because Zan is technically acting first. However, both characters are taking liberties with the other person, so I would probably retcon to the middle of the fight and rewrite the outcome. I doubt Zan would have time for the whole speech. How likely is it that Zan can beat up Garis? How likely is it that Garis can kill Zan before the latter can teleport? How effective could interference from the other PCs/NPCs be? I might have both players rewrite their actions to reflect each one interfering with what the other is doing, especially if the other characters want to get involved.
I believe I asked y'all to not get knife'd. :<
But there are two new characters, yayness! :V A phoenix and a being; such variety! Look forward to working with y'all when you pop in (and I do too, for that matter).
Yes, I know this is like ultra-late. Stop picking at my slow response time! :<
This likely won't affect anyone, but I'm away for the weekend and won't be home until sunday evening (GMT+1). Just wanted to let you know this, for the very unlikely case of you waiting for me to post xD
Absence noted, thanks for letting me know.
P.S. Sorry about taking so long to get the introductions ready, it should happen in 2-3 posting cycles from here though.
Okay, Tipod, Meany, Ketchup, and Shachza, you're good to go. Thanks again for your patience.

YAY! :D
The hamster on coffee is loose!
EDIT: Brown and Maroon are very close in color, at least in this color scheme of mine. I might have to request a change. :o
EDIT 2: Also, I have no idea what an Aztec accent would sound like. Just pretend like my character speaks funny.
Awesomesauce! :D
It's past 2 am for me... I hope next time it won't take me so long to get my thoughts into readable form. xD
Figure now would be a good time to say it... i'll be disappearing for the next 2 weeks, starting this upcoming friday.
First i have a cousin's wedding in KittyHawk to attend, and then staying a few days at the beach with the fam. After that, i rush home, do laundry, do some last minute running around, and head off to AnthroCon... soo ya.. i'll have a laptop with me, and, as long as i've got an internet connection, i'll check in from time to time... but for the most part, i'll be disappearing... Hope to get posts done in everything that is owed first, but if not, i'll do my best in the evenings.
Quote"Who are you?" he asked sharply, looking at Eilan. "These convictions are recognized by the rightful leaders of this land. Do you dispute their right to lead as well? But why are you speaking for him," Toalacuzlotlixao looks at Kassin briefly, "do you control him? If he disputes these charges, then let him defend himself as is proper."
I posted this in the IC thread because of the bounty pamphlet posted earlier in the IC thread. It said nothing about Eilan. If that has changed, let me know and I'll fix my post.

This is correct. The bounty notice does not mention Eilan.

Giving a bit of a sigh as the avian and reptile seemed still convinced that Garis was both a murder and soul-theif. Eilan's hatred of Chance had clearly not faded in the slightest, either. He grunted a bit as he interposed himself the reptillian and Kassin. He turned his attention towards the avian female, she appared to be struggling the worst.
Did you mean "...the avian and reptile seemed still convinced that Kassin was both a murder and a soul-thief."? Other than noting Garis' arrival and keeping an eye on him, Toalacuzlotlixao has yet to interact with Garis.
Garis can read thoughts... Cubi :3
Sorry, just dropping word that I've been busy getting ready for Anthrocon and will be leaving Wednesday.. I should be able to get a post up tomorrow. :B
Noted, thanks for letting me know. I'll wait for you to post before I do.
Activity seems to have slowed recently... so I'm checking to see that you're all still okay, still breathing, still sane (somewhat), still active, the like. Please post up if you're waiting on something or are having trouble due to OOC factors.
i'm actually half-way through a post, was waiting on Ketchup... but *shrugs*
Sorry it took me so long :/ At first I couldn't decide on Phoebes behaviour and then I had almost no internet for the last week. I would've told you earlier, but I had believed my connection were to be better.
One note for Bas: I'd say Phoebe is in mammal and not in avian form right now. Just a minor thing ;)
Also two questions: What's the current IG time? I'd assume something close to noon. And Eilan is the leader of the group, right? At least he seems to be the leading figure right now.
And a note on another absence of mine: I will be on vacation from the 7th till the 21st of August. I don't think I'll have any access to the internet there at all.
Sorry, I'm going through a bit of a IRL thing so please don't wait on me. I may just drop out but I'm not sure yet..

Nuuuuuuuuuuu...! :c
Don't go Wuff. We loves you! /hug
Eesh, sorry to hear that :c
Whatever's up, I hope it ends alright. I don't think anyone here would hold it against you for dropping out when real life's gettin serious.
Ketchup: Sorry to hear that, I understand completely. (My connectivity hasn't been great of late myself). Thanks for letting me know about the absence.
For the two IG questions:
1: It's early morning, sunrise. Probably ETA 7:30-8:00 AM in the Winter
2: Pheobe's IC assessment was kind of correct, they really don't have a clear 'person in charge', the group is kind of disorganized.
Wuff:
I understand entirely. Take what time you need.
Thanks everyone ^^ :tighthug ~~> Shachza just give me a week or so and things should be better.
Just a quick question, which of the resident Cubi have their little wingies showing?
Neither of Ked's wing sets are out.
Garis has both, and is making a big show of his color-shifting abilities :b
Some more questions:
1. At the moment Phoebe basically tries to heal herself with sun-energy. Now I wonder, how severe the damage is, 'cause I really don't know how long it would take and to what degree it should work. And who decides, if it works at all?
2. If characters are in some kind of "sidestory" (like Garis and Phoebe at the moment), what's a good timing between posts (so there's room for interferences and such)?
1: Pheobe wouldn't have any open obvious injuries from Kassin's healing. Likely, all she would have is fatigue, aches, perhaps a sore feeling near previously injured areas, etc. As for the magic system, I try to be loose. I notice that healing from sun energy isn't explicitly listed in Phoebe's profile. Try and keep it reasonable and within character and it should be alright though.
2: The best answer is 'Be Reasonable'. If your characters are making 6-second actions only in a safe area, you can go fairly quickly if you like. If you're making longer actions in a danger-zone, I'd probably say give about 24 hours OOC time.
It looks like you two will be having a discussion, and I assume that if a couple of characters are having a seperate discussion then the responses can go as fast as the poster's would like as long as no game-changing actions are being undertaken. You should, of course, be prepared to break it off should another player or the GM interrupt with and action of some kind.
Just a quick reminder: as I said, I'll be gone from 7th till 21st of August. (I'll leave in about 14 hours ^^ to go here (http://www.google.de/images?q=sardinien&oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:de:official&client=firefox-a&um=1&ie=UTF-8&source=og&sa=N&hl=de&tab=wi). Wee, I'm so excited xD)
Then i shall get you a post up ASAP X3... also, hope you have a fun trip, Ketchup

According to Google: Eifersüchtig
"Eifersüchtig" would be correct, but I'd also understand "jealous" :P But then there's not so much to be jealous about, as I spent lots of money on the trip and it won't be so nice to get there (18 hours bus ride, 8 hours by ship and lots of in between waiting xD)
Anyways, post is up. ^^
Yeah, but it's Sardinia. Pretty much anywhere involved in Italy is beautiful.

I should have known! That's a freaking Rammstein song, and I didn't even catch it... :cry
In my defense, for the longest time, I thought they were singing "(something) ei versucht." As though they were saying something about trying the eggs. Which is par for the course with me. (I thought Cruel Summer was Cru(?) Somba for a long time, as in a song about a dance)
Just a query. Are we waiting on anyone to post?
Tipod, I think.
Just to note, I'll be away from around later today to about Sunday.
Try not to blow -too- much up without me :P
I said I was sorry about that! D8 :giggle

Hey you guys, ah; I was told by Corg that there might be room for a new player and I was given permission to post up my info and see if it's okay to play. :3
At a self-plagiarism warning from Corg, I oughta mention that I re-copied my profile post from a past RP, the Castle, and edited it to fit this situation. x3
Name: Aisha deCabre
Nickname(s): Aish, Isha, The Risen
Age: mid-20s
Race: Being
Species: Panther (black jaguar)
Family and Association(s): Has no living family to speak of, but perhaps a missing brother: Ayan Cabre. Also likes to keep in touch with her mentor, the Healer Rynkura Msh'Taan.
Place of Origin: A valley called the Shadowed Depths in a remote part of Furrae; born in the village of Soldeluna and educated at the Healer's Monastery on the further side of it.
Current possessions: Weapons (listed below in Abilities), a pack with money, food, and a water pouch.
Color: Navy
Physical description
Height: 5'5''
Weight: 120 lbs
Build: Lean, strong but not too muscular
Eyes: Red
Hair: Black with a couple of dark grey streaks in the fringe
Fur Coloration: Slightly lighter black than the hair, with a barely distinctive spot pattern.
Distinguishing features: Her hair is quite long, reaching down to the middle of her back and is almost always braided. She wears a hooded cape that can change colors (when she's traveling, it's always crimson, to advertise her profession as a bounty hunter), and navy blue long-sleeved clothes, with a black belt that has her weapons strapped to it. There's only one scar on her body, on her back, the only one she wanted to keep.
Biographical and general information
History: Aisha was born and lived in her home village with her parents and older brother until she was twelve. Her mother died of a sudden illness when she was seven or eight, and it is there that she started learning how to fight amidst regular studies. Her brother went off when she was ten to fight in a war, and never came back. A couple of years later, her village was attacked by demons, and her father was assassinated. She fled the burning village and lingered on the border until she met the healer Rynkura, who taught her the finer arts of battle as well as some non-magic healing. At age eighteen was when she started adventuring and bounty hunting, determined to find these demons and avenge her family, and perhaps even find her lost brother, should he be alive.
Personality: The first thing one will notice about Aisha is that she's secretive. When asked her name, the most a stranger will get out of her is her first name, and otherwise refers to herself as "The Risen". Aisha is mostly a loner, and likes to travel. Getting to know her, one would also call her stubborn and sometimes quick to anger. She carries a determined will and a bit of impatience, and if she starts something then she must always finish it; so her fights rarely end in a tie. However, Aisha is also optimistic and doesn't believe in dwelling on the past. Among friends, she is protective and sociable, and also carries a sense of humor, though sometimes a grim one. The only race that she's quite biased against is the Demon race, although she tries to be attentive and think before acting on impulse.
Abilities: Aisha doesn't use magic herself, but she has a variety of enchanted weapons, mostly light-enchanted. Her repertoire consists of: her favorite weapon, the bladed boomerang that can come back to her on spoken command if it doesn't anyway; a light-magic imbued bracer that helps to heal wounds and dispels curses; the Dragonblade, a sword which repels and is impervious to magic; and an emerald-colored ring on her tail that glows in the presence of dark magic; a hidden dagger strapped to her leg that is enchanted with poison; and a bow and small quiver of arrows. She is protected with a mind shield, given to her for safety by Cheyenne, a fellow Healer student and 'Cubi.
Strengths: Aisha is quite fast and stealthy. Her senses are finely tuned and heightened, so hardly anything, including enemy weaknesses, escapes her notice. She is also good with a sword, the only close-range weaponry that she has much practice with. Her specialty however is long-range weaponry...for example, she can easily either kill or paralyze someone with an arrow.
Weaknesses: Being as stubborn as she is, Aisha could be determined to keep a fight going even past her own limit, sometimes forgetting what her limit is. Her attitude sometimes gets her into a bit more trouble than she realizes. If she has no time to think, then she can be short-sighted at times.
Trivia: Despite being a bit hard-headed, Aisha is also curious by nature and likes to take time to think and solve problems. She enjoys times of peace just as often as a fight, and will even stop to help others if they are so in need of it. Her greatest and only fear is being forced to see someone who she cares deeply for die, and not being able to do anything about it. She also knows as much about healing as she does about combat, but rarely uses the skill.
Hope this isn't too long. x3
Character approved. I'll go ahead and iron out the specifics shortly. (Hopefully)
Awesome :3 Oh, and actually, thinking about it, I made one more slight change to her profile to mention, just in case; she -does- have a mind shield. x3 Having a 'Cubi for a friend back home would result in that.
I'm going to try and get a post in tomorrow; I tried tonight, but I have a health exam tomorrow morning.
You guys are evil >:3 I've been waiting for days, checking almost every hour xD and now there's 4 new replies within one night (for me) and I have no time to read them xD
Eeeeeevil I say! xD
:B
Just to be clear Wuff, Zot is already standing right next to Kassin so he's not throwing the dart, he's just poking Kassin lightly with it.
oh, oops, thanks, I'll fix it
Finally, the first post. I'm one of you crazies now, ha. :3

Ked is more hoping for someone smart and stealthy, who can also be..... persuaded into doing what he wants.
Hey Basilisk, leave some for the reptile midget. :B
Terribly lackluster post, but damn is it hard to write in this weather.
I may just have myself come across the group in my next post...for observation's sake, and because I'm too lazy to go back and look that far, none of the 'Cubi are hiding their features, yeah?
Actually, I think Garis is the only one not hiding. >-> Not too sure about that, though.
Ked's keeping both wing sets folded in, and is at least trying to pass for Being.

Haha xP Well, OOC-ness is amusing, but still OOC. :3
As a sidenote, Bart is only multilingual in the sense that he learned how to insult people in more than one language.
edit: Just realized thanks to Kob that Ked's hands have gloves on them, therefore Bart probably wouldn't see Ked's symbol. Editing post now, sorry about that.
edit2: and then we realized he'd know Ked's last name anyway from the posters, dur. My bad.
My computer's graphics card has been going, so I'm afraid I'm having my laptop being taken in for repairs soon. This means that I may be gone for a while. I will however, make every endeavor to make sure that you are informed of my status should the situation change.
EDIT: Update: I ended up getting a new laptop altogether, so... I'll be able to keep up with this.
I'd like to ask the players:
Would you like to continue the current vein of play for now? Or would you like me to 'jump' to nightfall? A.k.a. have Eilan/Kassin wake, continue on. While I would like to keep moving, I understand if you want to have your PCs interact before such, since IC it would be a rather long while.
Jumping works for me.
i'm good with whatever
Same here, whatever works. :3
I also am agreeable to jumping ahead.
I don't mind the jump, but do we all have to be asleep at this point? Even with wards and whatnot, someone should be keeping watch. If it's OK I'm going to write that Zot has been awake for a while up in a tree because the morning was his shift.
Orenio would have set up a Perimeter barrier, and so would need to be awake to keep it up. :>
Making a roll-call here, progress has slowed down rather significantly recently.
Please post here if you're still interested in playing.
Still interested.
still interested... though kinda stuck with my current character :B
Still interested; sorry, I've just been having trouble with my RPing muse. ^^;;
I'm still around. Been trying to come up with a response that advances the plot. We may have skipped through the night, but both of our NPC protagonists are picking up exactly where they left off.
I'll be putting up a new IC post tomorrow after my latest class. I expect that I'll be able to regularly resume from there.
EDIT: Make it tomorrow morning, I need to sort a few things.
Sweet!
Just posting it officially (I already let Kobra know... finally) I'm out of the RP.. life is just too busy and even though I was ever hopeful to return I just know that's not in the plan right now. So, I'm leaving the job of tying up Chance's loose ends to Kobra and Corgatha. It's been fun for what time I had with yas! Happy RP'ing for the rest of your duration!
Unlocked to see if anyone is interested.
Still interested.
I'm still around. :)
Still here.
here but scatterbrained
Interested~
Just giving up a heads up; Kobra's settling into a new apartment, so his internet is out. Probably won't be up until Tuesday or Wednesday at the earliest, and there might be some delays.
Back and connected to the internet.
To recap in case anyone's forgot (and I know it's been a long period of inactivity), the group was debating on whether to go to Pauperta, or an abandoned creature's mansion. Both sites have connections to Kassin's accused murders, etc... (Don't know if that was mentioned IC to the newcomers...) Anyways, if you want, I could fastforward to the location of your choice, though I'd of course prefer deliberations to be made in the IC thread.
Welcome back everyone. Let's resume.
Ked's said his piece. He wants to go to Pauperta, for reasons of his own.
Orenio just wants them to stop arguing long enough for a decision to be made. :< All the bad juju is upsetting the young lord.
