Dear APF,

I am a fan of Roleplaying, and have recently wanted to get back into it with either one of my variations on my twinsoul kitsune character. However most of the RPs seem either hard to get into or too dark and edgy (I prefer a fairly light hearted style), and I don't feel I really have the creative knack to support an RP of my own. Suggestions?

I can sympathize.  Most of the RPs are either meant to be far too serious cat for my tastes, or you look at them and wonder how anyone else will get packed in.  Well, some you can see someone else getting packed in and think, "Wouldn't that just make things worse?"

Unfortunately, all I can think of is to look for a new RP and try to get in early.  Tends to be easiest, though you will be less sure to get other good characters and it will be a bit too early to see if the GM is up to the task.

When trying to get into an established one you can probably get a feel by following IC threads and OOC threads.  Some of those RPs will have far too much archive to plow through the whole thing.  In those cases following the IC thread a while also has the advantage of waiting to see when a good time to join in will be.

Unfortunately, these all involve waiting and patience to find a good chance to jump in on it.
