okay, it's a bit of an art-dump, but here goes nothing..

something i'm working on in DOGA, i'm quite a one-trick pony when it comes to 3d modelling programs, as this one's just putting stuff together.

"pure" something akin to a representation of my muse, effectively formless, and subject to its own whims, more on this one later.

That is one good ship design- I envy you for being able to do that! The sketches are also brilliant, especially the last few of that voluptuous dame- she's both cute and funny. Couldn't stop grinning at the number 2 murder scene. Great selection of art altogether!

Keleth

I like sketches, i like art.

Your muse thing is really interesting. Energy beeeings?

Help! I'm gay!

Gabi

Great sketches! One of them is a bit creepy, but I guess that was intentional. Your muse looks interesting, the Kittah sketches are impresive, and the FF logo launch sketch reminded me of Rusty.

Hmm, my compliments in general. Did you use a program called 'Deep Paint 3D' to design the ship? I admit, the quality of the image is rather similar to something of that level...

as Previously mentioned, i use a program called "DOGA" it's an odd program, relying on kitbashing model chunks together in fun ways.

Oh! Heh, I didn't notice that-I tend to be more interested in the images themselves than reading the stuff about'em. Still, I might try that someday...

Oh my! How many hours did you put into your ship so far? I obviously haven't stopped in for awhile because all the rest is new to me as well. It's a great collection too! Can't wait to see the progress on the WIP.

Calendar: I love the shape of the central compass. There's a nice balance between fluid and geometric. The scripting is beautiful, too.

The circles on the outter edge are layered, but the squares coming off them aren't. I don't get a sense of what "level" they're on, other then that they're under the circles. Since some circles are "higher" than others, the squares could be "higher" or "lower" than each other. It makes them float, sorta.

ffcc370wip: I... can't really make out what any of that is, other than the the figure at the bottom. Some huge abstract device, I imagine. :B

Is that Benghal looking badass-dramatic? He seems to build his career on that.

Igarius: Dang, this guy looks cool. The lighting makes him look metallic.

The shading on the hands and chest are about the same tone, which makes them seem on the same "level." If the chest was a darker shade, (which it reasonably could be, if the hands are casting a shadow) it would add some depth, create space, and make the image more readable. A touch under the left pectoral and deltoid would do the same.

The right thumb seems to deform quite a bit where it rests against the left one. [edit] Never mind. I was looking at it wrong.

There are some really precise and subtle details on the anatomy of the hands that I didn't notice at first, especially around...

...

Are those drawn from life or photo-reference? They're very nice.

Turnsky

neither - mind's eye.
shading 'correctly' is hard for me at the moment, as these were done with three basic tools - My 0.7 mechanical pencil ( a stalwart companion thus far) a standard Staedler mars plastic eraser that i also use for smudging/blending (it really does work, too), and a kneadable eraser.

'cept janus' he's got a ton of references that tend to stick to mind.

as for Bengahl? this holo-AI version of him i like to think of as a Conductor to an symphony of chaos.  >:3

the calendar's easy to decypher, the two 'arrowed' circles represent Ariannia's moons. as this is a lunar cycle calendar, the lower circle in the middle of each quadrant is the "mid-season" point.

the squares ontop would later feature gems or somesuch representing the number of arbitary "days" in each month.
Ariannia's dawnspire is kind of a lunar sundial if you will, the spire itself dead in the middle of a very large timepiece.

it's worth noting that it seems my visual arts diary doesn't seem to like copics, after trying to use a brush pen (you can see the results in the flame of the torch), i found that my paper loves copic ink like a SPONGE. Seems i need to invest in proper cardstock before i can try the more in-depth inking techniques.
there's minimal bleed with my zig millenniums, though, which is what i used for the majority of the pic.

It may not be the paper: different pens/markers/whatev will have different ink flow. The ones that flow more do have one advantage: you can make swift strokes, and the line wont break up.

it's 120 gsm, it's a step up in weight from plain xerox paper, really.. it's meant for sketching overall, really.. i might look into some more heavyweight stuff next time i'm in the city.

Just kidding... It's a great expression.

okidoke, one of the most numerous 'nitpicks' i've gotten about my work (especially in relation to DMFA fanart) is how i draw feline 'muzzles' insofar as to their somewhat canid appearance. Which i'll admit i'm something of a one-trick pony when it comes to anthros, canids dominating my entourage for years now.
the below is one attempt at me trying to fix it, truthfully 3/4 views is where one would have the most difficulty in trying to resolve depth in my case at least.

it's more or less me trying to 'pick apart' how Amber draws her felines, and trying to integrate that aspect into my own styling.

it's not much, but it is proof that i do live in some context.  :U

Kipiru

The muzzles look great, though maybe still a bit far from being completely feline. They come out a bit more like lion than cat. Try doing them even shorter, a bit like the bottom one- it's the closest to what I consider to be the target.

RobbieThe1st

I have to say that -all- of them are marked improvement - Good work!
Like Kipiru says, however, it's still a little long. I do like the right one, however - It seems relatively "normal" looking(Whatever that means..)
One other thing of note - The ears seem to be angled a bit far "out" from the head(possibly also a bit low on the skull), versus almost straight up. But, I'm no artist - please take everything I said with a grain of salt.

Pasteris.ttf <- Pasteris is the font used for text in DMFA.

WhiteFox

I think the head on the right is the best looking one. I don't get any impression of depth on the bottom one: the face looks completely flat across.

Quick redline...

The nose of the right head looks angled a bit low... my bad.

The muzzles have pretty sharp corners on the outside edge. Rounding them out would look much more feline.

When the head is turned, there's often an indentation between the nose and the lip, and one between the upper and lower lip.

With all due respect, I don't know where this idea comes from. Unless you're drawing something like a Persian, even domestic cats typically have noses of a decent length. Larger cats do tend to have longer noses, but that doesn't mean small cats have tiny ones. Besides, as far as I can make out, it's primarily the width of the nose that increases on a larger cat, not the length.

Personally, I think the length of the noses look just right (Except for the bottom head, which looks like a BESM nose).

I'd agree. My rule of thumb is that the inside corners of the ears are as far apart as the distance between the centres of the eyes... but then, I don't have the easiest time drawing ears.

That is like saying wolves are dogs! You very well know I meant the difference in muzzle, or are you going to argue there is none: Lion - cat

Idea comes from observation and practice- the nose is usuall never long enough to go beyond the cheeks in 3/4 pose(i never said it should be completely flat):

All I meant was that what you said seemed odd in light of the fact that a lion is a type of cat. Kind of like saying, "That looks more like a wolf than a canine."

So, no: I did not know you meant "cat" as in "housecat," rather than "the whole entire order of felidae." My apologies.

Also, no, I won't argue that there is no difference between the muzzles of large and small cats. Actually, I spent most of a paragraph talking about exactly those differences.

Well, assuming we were talking about a certain range of domestic housecat breeds, who have their head turned less than 45 degrees, and are drawn in a highly generic, hyper-stylized, anime look... then I would have to defer to your judgement, as I have no experience in that regard.

I was under the impression, however, that Turnsky was attempting to draw something that actually resembled a cat in some way.

By the way: none of the examples have much depth to the muzzle at all... which, if I recall, was what Turnsky had been asking about to begin with.
