Considering the character with magenta wings is a beaver, I would say the answer is you guys are being dinks for being incapable of thinking that in a universe filled with MILLIONS of individuals, that two of them may one day have a similar fur colour without them necessarily being linked.

That's long enough for it to go out of fashion and come back in, probably several times

A friend of mine who is unassociated with the forum also pointed out to me that there is a 'similarity' to Dan, but quantified it by saying there's likely no link given the timespan involved.

I find its a problem when you deal with a comic where you have just enough diversity in races in colour that there aren't a lot of similarities between the cast...but not enough environmental scenes to show diversity outside the main cast.  It tends to lead people to think that the whole universe revolves around the main cast and so every similarity must be a connection.
