Ehh... how do I put an avatar or a signature? (Can anyone help me? I seriously don't know)

4.) Place the URL for your avatar in the box next to ``I have my own pic''
5.) Press the ``Change profile'' button.

To add a picture to the signature itself, you'll need to add the appropriate codes into the signature section (which is also edited via the profile).  These must not be more than 500 pixels wide or it will either be rescaled (horribly) or not appear at all.  Technically it can be 500 pixels high as well but this will upset the moderators which you do not want.  FWIW, my signature image is 125 pixels high.

That pretty much sums it up.

For what it's worth, we can only limit the image size across the board, so far as we can tell. So we can't actually limit sigs to a sane and handy 200 high (which is still, IMHO, a bit excessive) without limiting -all- images to 200px high. And for sigs, I'd be happy with 700 or 800 wide, whereas in general usage, 500x500 is fine... so, yeah. Swings and roundabouts.

If anyone -does- have an excessive sig, I'm happy to offer suggestions for how to organise it to limit height - I have, in the past, set up tables and the like to balance things. So if someone wants help, albeit possibly delayed a couple of days depending on what else I'm up to, I -am- willing to at least listen.
