I'll just add my applause for Cyra's expression and pose in the last panel. What better way to nail down the "Grandchildren" comment? As a "retired adventurer" with a current romantic interest and a grandmother like her, the odds look good for the flutter of tiny wings within a few years.

And a happy Cyra.

Unless there's another war.
Which would you like to be, ignorant or misled?

I know. That last frame actually tugged at the heartstrings, especially when you read it in an actual elderly woman's voice. Go ahead, try and read that last speech bubble in an old woman's sad voice and just TRY not to feel bad for her.

bdplague

Is this the first time anyone has told Dan how small his clan actually is? I can't remember.

LOVE the last panel though. Amber is certainly improving nicely at drawing old people!!! So sad.  :<

Well, Cyra mentioned it... but Daniel was a little distracted.

While I don't think she'll be his personal guardian angel, is it not possible that Fa'lina might gently look out for Dan?
I'm guessing that there would be some sort of meet and greet before hand, and I would assume that Fa'lina would want this meeting to go off without hitch, maybe making the introductions herself. It would be easier on Dan if Abel came with him as some sort of guide (and interesting if Seme (or her rep) made another attempt to recruit him).

How do we know that other cubi hold Crya's ascension against her? They are a selfish race, so maybe they only despise the dragons for making war on them.

Ohhhh, wouldn't it be nice to see a certain purple kitty again?

Well, he IS a part of the Jin clan, so, why wouldn't he make an appearance?

Ryy Lazurus

I think it's possible. Jin's clan is small, and like Cyra she is a bit of a recluse. It would make sense to send Jink.
It would be cool for Jink and Dan to meet I think. It would really help Dan get over the whole "Cubi bad" rut he's stuck in.

Probably openness is the best policy:  "Hi, I'm Dan.  I thought I was a Being until about 3 months ago and know nothing about my clan whatsoever, but grandmother asked me to represent her here, so here I am."
That almost sounds like an AA meeting. :mowhappy :cheers

Am I forgetting something? When was this recruitment attempt?

Dan as a representative for Clan Cyra is an interesting surprise, not one that I object to of course. :3 It'd be great for Cyra to have some good PR for once; at least if we assume the last meetings were full of bad PR....... :sweatdrop

I'm crossing my fingers that the meeting will be informative and entertaining! :popcorn *gets popcorn ready*

Abel's clan leader and Seme where lovers. She adopted two of Siar's clan (http://www.missmab.com/Comics/Ab_057.php), and wanted Abel to join.

^This.  I also wonder if we'll see any members-of-other-clans that showed up briefly in Abel's story.  Though admittedly I'm wondering about the other representatives in general, not to mention I'll be looking out for the clan quirks.  :mowsmile

It was never mentioned that she wanted Abel to join.  Her clan members gravitated toward him, but that's about it.  Personally, it seems to me that she might not want Siar's clan to vanish entirely, but at the same time she would welcome him if he decided to join.

If it was that cloak-and-dagger, it's unlikely Cyra would entrust Clan policy to Dan.  Something like this... it sounds more like a business meeting to me.  Heck, they probably publish minutes in the SAIA library or something..

Another possibility is that this could be some kind of review of what their children are learning on campus. Possibly a mix of clan business, politics, and class requirements.

Might be more set to a town meeting where the tri-wings sit at the bench. Lesser cubi form the group that we would make up if we went to town meetings.

Regardless of what the meeting entails, Cyra does raise a good point. "You're 50% of my clan. You have a huge say in what we do"

So many juicy things that could happen... Minute Maid would be jealous.  Dan will most likely attend now as Cyra's avatar.  Abel said he was considering going with Dan to the academy to talk to Fa'Lina about his dreams.  Abel happens to look like a member of clan Quoar, who may (or may not, depending on the timing) be sending a representative.  Abel is also the only known member of Siar (provided Aniz is 100% certifiably dead and he didn't place more children in the academy before Abel).  I don't know if Fa'Lina would get to be a representative since she has no other clan members, but I'm figuring she will (she does run the place, after all).  If he is still alive and well, there is a 1 in 8 shot that Mink would attend as clan Jin's representative.

So, time to put on the speculation cap (insert eerie music here) for some interesting scenarios:
1)  Abel has a chance to obtain tri-wing status and we learn just what is involved in obtaining that status
2)  Destania and Biggs sneak into the gathering and kidnap the Quoar representative.  Destania mind-controls Abel to get him to pretend to be the Quoar ambassador and propose a new war against the dragons.  Destania breaks the news to Dan about Edward being held captive by the dragons; Dan seconds Abel's proposal, all heck breaks loose, yadda yadda..
3)  Aaryanna and Abel run into each other, all heck breaks loose, yadda yadda..  ^_^
4)  Mink does show up as Jin's ambassador and runs into Abel
5)  At the very least, we get to meet some very interesting members of the other surviving clans

Sienna Maiu - M T

Considering that there's some question of whether Cyra survived the Cubi-Dragon war at all, the surprise may lie in the fact itself that there shall be any representation at all.

Not really... it's just that he represents half of the clan's interests. It doesn't really indicate what the other half and the leader are liable to do.

Point of order. Dan is Cyra's representative, not avatar. An avatar would be one of the tri-wing puppets, rather than their own body. A representative is merely someone delegated to show up in their name.

Significant difference. If Dan were Cyra's avatar, that would seriously mess with the whole rest of the plot of the entire comic. Not to mention it'd say some pretty odd things about Destania, too, that she'd go along with it...

A mistype.  I had meant to type 'instead of' rather than 'as'.  Please remain calm.  It would be interesting to see which clan leaders send ambassadors and which use avatars... and if the avatars bear any resemblance or, as will probably be the case with Dimanika, will be a complete mindf :censored

Question since this has had me studying the clans:  Since Aaryanna's profile mentions the clan marking on her shoulder is a moon and she has bat-like wings, does that make her a member of Taun's clan?  The anger/rage affinity certainly fits with her personality... at least when upset.  It would also make it more fascinating that she would fail battle tactics.

Aaryanna's from a leaderless clan, although this bit of information wasn't revealed within the comic itself.

Three words; "Adventurer" "Slaying" "Department".
The Cubi definitions of evil are likely quite different from your own.

If I remember Dan's mindset with regards to dealing with enemies as an adventurer, this kind of attitude among Cubi is simply a case of 'do unto them, before they make you really dead'  :erk

I think it's Dan's self-image. Since they're in a mental construct, and Dan hasn't yet become accustomed to having the headwings, they're not yet part of his mental picture of himself.

You're probably right.
But it's still an odd thing, especially considering he's meeting his Clan Leader.

Depending if 'clan leaders' is referring to the Tri-Wings or just a cubi that is head of the clan it might be that Abel is considered a clan leader, seeing how he is the only living member of his clan as far as we know. That would give him another reason to go back to the academy.

1) I doubt it would be that easy and so far as we've seen Abel has no desire to become a Tri-Wing. Not to mention that he will be a clanless Tri-Wing like Fa'Lina as he will loose the ability to produce offspring and something tells me not many cubi would want to transfer to his new-founded clan. If that is even possible. (We know transferring is possible, but maybe it can only be done by clan members and not the leader otherwise Fa'Lina might have tried to revive her clan that way.)
2) Aside the whole idea seeming far fetched it has some basic flaws. For starters, Abel doesn't have the Quoar clan mark but one from Siar. Furthermore there are people at the Academy that know Abel and him being from Siar instead of Quoar, most notable Fa'Lina who is highly unlikely to not be present.
3) Abel and Aaryanna run into each other and all hell breaks loose as she still wants to have the hot sex with him  >:]
4&5) I most surely hope so.

Abel has both the Quoar traits.  What seems more plausible is that they might offer him a transfer to Quoar clan.  Even if they do at some point in the future, it's unlikely to happen now - Quoar might not be sending a rep this time.

That doesn't say that her clan doesn't have a leader... just that the leader has not ascended to tri-wing status.

An interesting concept... and one which would also explain the crowns in the background from Abel's first Cast page profile image. (Although, this could still just point at his superior attitude.)

I imagine that had Abel had to option, he would have transferred into Fa'Lina's clan when she adopted him.
