Well that's certainly something I didn't expect.  Let's hope it goes a lot better than it did at Kria's party.

Hmm... I wonder what the other envoys will be like?

However something is bugging me. Wouldn't Cyra have Dan express her interests as well?

Destania's goals are not exactly... subtle. It's probably a good thing she's operating under the radar.

However, going on what Cyra said, that means Dan's current interests are the clan's only interests. As we have seen, those interests mostly fall under the "Getting it together" category... and as Infranscia pointed out:

Typically it involves consuming lots of souls (likely Dragon souls in her case, given their reaction).  However much his eyes glaze over, that little fact is liable to make him recoil in horror.

Now the other envoys?  Whatever they discuss, that certainly is going to be over his head, I'd say, since he barely knows anything about 'Cubi at all.  I hope they don't take her sending a total newbie as an offence.

Probably openness is the best policy:  "Hi, I'm Dan.  I thought I was a Being until about 3 months ago and know nothing about my clan whatsoever, but grandmother asked me to represent her here, so here I am."

Might be interesting to see what the others make of him.  Looking at the present comic, I can just imagine Dan slouching with his feet on the table, no shirt and his headwings hidden.

An interesting thing, though: Doesn't Quoar only send a representative every millennium?

Well, the thousand years came off of Mink's report.  He could simply have gotten the detail wrong.

Approximately 7000 years, I think.  And they're not mutually exclusive - it may simply mean that Quoar's representative only turns up for every ten meetings.

Ah, but Dan still has a beings definition of good and evil. As a clan member he can at least try and prod things in the right direction, his mother seems to have a soft spot for beings also, since meeting her husband at least.

If I'm not mistaken, Dan knows 3 Dragons (or at least 3 appeared in the comic in a relation to Dan until now). And to his "aversion":

relation to dragon nr. 1: "i don't want to know, what you are doing to my sister" (Pyroduck)
dragon nr. 2: "Why must it be the only dragon i owe money to" (stupid Guarddragon from DP)
dragon nr. 3: An amazon-dragon. And we know Dans "aversion" towards amazons

It's going to vary greatly per clan.  As for the adventurer slaying department, remember Taun's members are usually adventurers or mercenaries themselves... Come to think of it, Dan might hit off with Taun's clan, since they both seem to be about keeping the peace.  Unless they know about Dee's aims, of course.

There might be also mixed first impressions about having a Cyra representative. Remember that his clan leader was considered the lynch pin by some and under certain circumstances could blame Dan simply being a Cyra clan member.

He might hit it of with Taun's, but the Taun's might keep close to him being both a new and untrained cubi as well as having a big old target on his head.

Of course being a new cubi as he is might make him susceptible to more then just revenge plots. These are representatives of the clans after all. Seduction, political plots, tactical maneuvering, pride in simply inquiring him, and enjoying confusing him.

Then we also have to take into account some tri-wings might actually come to meet a new representative of clan Cyra. Strange things could happen there.

It is quite likely that one of the 'Cubi will be Fa'lina...  In any case the gathering is within SAIA, which is strictly neutral territory.

That's both exciting and saddening if that were to be the case.

As I understand it there are a lot of clans who have lost their leaders.  The way I see it you are likely to have someone step in as nominal head to try and keep the clan together and steer it after the leader has died (if the survivors accept them, of course - otherwise it'll fragment).

However, I'm pretty sure that this meeting is a gathering of tri-wings, not de-facto clan heads.

Yeah, I think there's a fair chance that Dan will hit it off with the Taun clan.  I think he'll be pleasantly surprised (assuming he's not incredulous) that there's a clan or two full of adventurers, as well as clans of emotions as positive as joy or love.

I think that even if Destania were to represent the clan this time around, things may come as a surprise.  Remember that she went soft somewhat and married a Being.

I'm with you on this one.  She was rather young when she ascended, and she has had several thousand years alone to think about things.

Indeed you bring up a good point considering many of the current surviving tri-wing members might communicate as SAIA being neutral ground and probably send their kids there.

One has to wonder if the date is set to a particular date in the past?

1) While Dan has shown the occasional dislike for Pyroduck, he has encountered Pyroduck; a dragon who wasn't raised with the same pride-based upbringing of the majority of other dragons.
2) a) that was a gag, b) it was the only dragon for a reason

side-note: when did Daniel first start disliking Dragons? (Unless of course it was his mother who raised him to watch out for them...)

However, with exceptions (because there are always exceptions) Daniel has made it pretty clear that he doesn't like and doesn't get along with dragons.

Speaker:  This is Daniel Ti'Fiona of clan Cyra.  Relatively new to being a cubi, former adventure, retired.  One of his most notable achievements is defeating The Dark Pegasus three times without the aid of magic.
