A REAL cartoon has more depth and imagination

-  like characters who die and go to hell:

- or who get into embarrassing semi-nude situations with their neighbor's wife:

- Or stick in references to 20th century modernist American artist Edward Hopper:

- Or Michaelangelo:

- Or Edvard Munch:

- Or stick in images of dead Disney characters:

- Or joke about prostate exams:

- Or as was mentioned before, masturbation:

No, other attempts pale in comparison to Rocko's Modern Life.

Oh god...Not the HB GB...They didnt even do much XD

I think the evidence given proves that RML isn't for kids... Or most of it's humor will be lost on them.

Zedd

RML was never for the kiddys..More like Teens or young adults

Alondro

*Charles quips*  I watched RML when I was a kid!  Now I'm a furry... *puts on ears and a tail and runs around in a circle*

*Charline points at parents*  Don't let this happen to your children!  Watch something safe and wholesome!  Like South Park...  >:3
Three's a crowd:  One lordly leonine of the Leyjon, one cruel and cunning cubi goddess, and one utterly doomed human stuck between them.

I was around that point ot see that show RML . It's very cool and dangerous in that time, but thats the appeal then I think in my own opinion that these show goes away when the appeal no longer is appealing anymore.....

Rafe

RML didn't "go away because it wasn't appealing anymore", it went away because Nickelodeon wanted to add characters, make changes, and generally interfere with the show's creators.  Rather than go along with changes that would have destroyed it, they ended their relationship with Nickelodeon before that happened.   It wasn't some "cool and dangerous show for that time", filled with dated pop-culture references or attempts at shock value,  it was a show with excellent writing, characters with depth and humanity, and timeless and univeral appeal.
Rafe

Alondro

*Charles nods!*  Just like "Cow and Chicken"!  There was lots of humanity in that!  At least, people were always crying out "Oh the humanity!" whenever they watched it...  :B

"Cow and Chicken" is a good example.  Hanna-Barbera's last gasp, and appropriately, a rip-off of Ren and Stimpy with none of the good qualities of the original.  Ren and Stimpy, may not have been the most intellectually edifying work, and tended to have a lot of booger and fart jokes, but they never caved in to political-correctness or avoided violence when it was ACTUALLY FUNNY.  Plus, I don't think there has ever been a cartoon series that had the level of emotional intensity.  Yes, Ren and Stimpy were stupid, but they were stupid in such an honest and believable way that you couldn't help but love them.

Then there's some shows that are better off remaining memories... UPN apaprently aquired the rights to show the smurfs, and they run it in the mornings.  I didn't remember them being that bad.
<-Reese yaps by Silverfox and Animation by Tiger_T->

ShiningShadow

Oh yes very bad. OOOkay it reminds of me getting all medevil on them. Let go somewhere to plan a strategy to kill those blue b***ards.................

Manawolf

"Papa Smurf has a ****ing beard!  They're mammals!"

I also remember the discussion on Smurfette in Donny Darko.

Alondro

*Charles winks*  Oh, there was some drug-culture in the Smurfs!  They all lived in MUSHROOMS and the Smurfs were BLUE... Blue Mushrooms!  And they were always dancing around singing like they were on some sort of acid trip.  Yep, the Smurfs were all about drugs.   :)

What about 00Beaver, secret agent from the near future? :3 Ah, it stinks how so many good shows got cancelled.... quite a few of them by Nickelodeon, it seems... Although if I had the Nicktoon channel, I could still watch em. -_-;

Bah! Muscular Beaver is nothing more than a pale, sanitized imitation of capitalist oppressor stereotypes!

For a true Hero Of The People, look no further than Stump! From his dirt-poor origins, to struggling among saps before taking root in show business, there can be no better success story to tell.

His performances were anything but wooden, and throughout the series, it was easy to see the rate at which his general acting ability grew and blossomed, and while Angry Beavers has been cancelled, it is easy to se that he has more thn enough ability to branch out into other fields.

ShiningShadow

Are we talking about Al Gore here can't get any wooden than that :laugh :laugh :laugh :laugh.....................

Silverfoxr

One of my favorites:

I really want RGB on a DVD box set.  Why they haven't made that yet is beyond me.

No box sets, just a few random (and small) episode collections.  Much like what they did with the VHS editions at least a decade ago (probably even longer than that).
