I've been wondering, actually, if he got hit by some magic somewhere in his sneaking-about-doing-his-job thing. It'd be fairly ironic that he'd ended up magically invisible and intangible other than leaving notes, after spending so much time behind the scenes making things work...

... and kinda sad, in a way. I'm not sure if I really want to be right, with this idea. :-/
