I don't think Demon diets are restricted by anything like biology, awkwardness, or common sense.
This is my pencil. There are many like it, but this one is mine. My pencil is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life...

*Grabs the mid-thread derail about character information and random irrelevant theorizing*

Now that we're done derailing Nyil's art thread with,  offtopic food choices of a character and irrelevant theorizing about demon biology. Feel free to take that to the general discussion board.

Time to go back to talking about the artwork.
Which is I think she looks healthily overweight. And it's got the typical Mouse stylings of rich depth shading I do enjoy looking at. My favorite part of the picture is the expression, something about the facial expression just feels right. Not sure I know how to word it.

Anyways, keep on rolling out that artwork!
Help! I'm gay!

Thanks for getting things back on track - I kind of thought that the way I drew her was a stylistic thing - things drawn in a more cartoony way tend to be a little thinner than things in a more painted way. Oh well, I'll take that into consideration the next time I draw her. Thank you!

I have to say that I'm really impressed with the anatomy on this one.  Normally your method of presenting characters leaves the anatomy blurred and unclear so it can be hard to get a good gauge on it, but in this picture, it's very clear and well presented.  I like it!

Now on to more serious stuff.

I've said it before and I'll say it again:  I'm not the best where it comes to helping people sort out emotions, but if there *is* anything I can do just say the word.  You're a great person, Nyil, and I'd rather see you flourish than suffer.

Thank you. Honestly, with everything that's gone on, it's just a weird thing to accept, I'm never really quite sure how to react to people being friendly or unfriendly or indifferent. I'm glad I have a few people to help me, even if I am awkward.

Commission for Tapewolf. I know that Merlin is going to have to draw this bastard many times, but I just had to make him fancy and pretty. For science.

I dunno when there's likely to be a comic featuring him, it's probably years away.  But thanks very much, it's awesome.  At some point I will likely ask you about doing one based on the original sketch, where he's holding the sword...

I still think Merlin should draw him. Over and over and over again. With all the details - I was originally going to put tattoos in there, too, just to make the details more fun. ... But Merlin should definitely draw him about a thousand times.

Maybe if (hopefully when) you finish Project future you 2 (or more, not sure if you have any additional crew) can perhaps make project epsilon?
Please?  :3

But anyhow, about the drawing, it's pretty good, but somehow I think that the head might be a bit too small, and the left part of the leg/ hips/pants is somewhat off.
*critic mode off*
Very nice drawing though, much better than any I've managed to create so far :P

Ah, nice pic of Syd. You've given him his first rendering!

And just to echo what Mao said, feel free that you can come to me about anything.

I wish the best for you Nyil, no matter how many Irish jokes you make.

Sparta? no, you should've taken that right at albuquerque..

About a thousand times? Well a range of 800 to 1200 times would be about 30-50 seconds at 24fps  :P

...actually, maybe I just do the lines and tell Tapewolf the details are really something that goes in at the colouring stage >:3 Mwahaha!

Hey man, if you want your hands all over him, go for it - though those little filigrees on the wings have to be done in the inked stage ;) The ones on the pants and clothes, however, are to be colored. *troll*

I can't help but notice that a lot of your work is soft on defining shadows, and it makes things look flat. The hair has very little depth, and the inside corners of the ears don't seem to "lift" off of the inner ear.

Conversely, the lighting makes things pop right out, like the shape of the muzzle, and that highlight on the shoulder. Not to mention your use of color: the green eyes look incredibly vibrant.

The other thing that throws me off about the hair is that the dark strokes don't seem like shadow, they seem like dark streaks of hair. I love how fluid and silky the hair looks, tho.

Dat lace. :dface The detail is gorgeous.

Aw, thank you so much, hun :)

Honestly I stole the patterns on the wing thing from the Book of Kells (or one of those knotty books) - it's just a repeat knot, then some other details carved out of it so it didn't look quite so empty. It was actually really quite random!

*squee* What a surprise to wake up to!  I'm really starting to like what you're doing with the hair stylization. I personally like your use of shadow here. Some people have the tendency to give the red panda face too much depth, and I like the way this portrayal came out - I like the shorter muzzle look on my girl.

And we all know how much I hate you for your freehand lace skills. :)

This is just a little before bed sketch, since I wanted to paint something on the desolate side.

I rather like this one as well - you usually do such detailed backgrounds, and you've managed to make this one simultaneously empty and interesting. It's a nice piece.

Ya know, what I love about this (I mean, apart from the usual awesome use of colour, economy of detail, and organic shapes/lines that your work always has) is that the figure and ground plane are very literal, and the clouds are very stylistic, but neither one conflicts with the other.

...

I dunno if that made much sense. It's like... let's say there's a drawing of a character with completely realistic, humanoid anatomy and a head drawn in warner bros. or anime style. The result is something too realistic to be cartoony and too cartoony to be realistic.

This, on the other hand, is a comfortable mix of both... I think that's awesome.

Still say that dune needs more sandworms.

The only thing I can really say about this picture, in terms of critique, is that I really like the how you did the sky here.  I've seen a lot of different representations of clouds and the sky in general, but this style has always stood out as one of the neater ones.  The swirls man, the swirls!

Ah, I suppose I can also say that the colour for the dune itself feels off to me.  Feels almost too... muddy?  I dunno.  I'll chalk it up to me expecting a desert sand dune. X3
