Unfortunatly, because of what happened, we had to restore from a backup.

The good news is that the server company backs up nightly (which is better than the Saturday backup I have on my harddrive)

The bad news is that we have lost all posts from around 2am Monday night/Tuesday morning on.  However, given the time of the occurence, this only looks to be about 12 hours worth of posts.

In other news of the bizarre, Darkmoon reported that his account was corrupted, so we had to delete and make a new one (which is why you will see him as a "guest" sometimes, and a regular poster others).  Anyone else who sees themselves in a similar situation can reach me on AIM under Jezebel148- If I'm not online, just leave a message and I will take care of it in the morning. (I can copy over the info and remake an account as long as it's not deleted prior to that)

Good thing the server dudes do frequent backups! (Also a good thing that Damaris did/does manual backups, just in case. ) Tuesday had been a mostly slow day from what I recall, so extra luck there.

Did the server logs give any hints about the "how" and "who"? Judging by what we saw before the database connection went down, somebody hijacked Darkmoon's account to bring things down. But maybe the logs show something else or details about how it was done.

Other than that: Yay for fast reaction time on Damaris' side and for the server dudes!

Whoever did it had plenty of time on their hands (or at least a machine to dedicate to it). My password wasn't exactly short, and it had letters and numbers. Technically, it should have been secure enough for most situations.

Of course, no my password is obnoxiously long, so that won't happen again.
