Well, since we're talking about a magical effect, it all depends on how magic and technology interact in a given setting. I'm thinking the default effect would simply be, at most, frying the robot's optics, because a robot is not bilogical, and a petrifying gaze turns flesh to stone. However, this becomes moot if your talking about a robot that doesn't use video-optical sensory systems in the first place.

I don't know, but in one of the Delta-4 adventures, you could kill the basilisk by wearing a pair of mirrored shades.
