In the comic Furfire itself there hasnt been any real indicator of Yuumei's intents...especially concerning Zephyr. Its more a "what may come in the future" type of gag setup.

Would someone mind filling me in on where this idea of Yuumei being gay for Zephyr came from?
The closest I've seen in Furfire is an attempted decapitation, which isn't quite the same.  Nor has Yuumei actually taken corporeal form, instead preferring to possess Savrin.

Is there some precursor strip to Furfire which I've missed?

I don't think it's from the Furfire comic, more like the other filler or one-shot comics Sil draws, I'll go look for one or two of such comics.

If you read the 'inner demons arc' Yuumei first appears as a violent spirt who pocsses savrin and then procedded to kick Zephyr around quite a bit
it actually all came about from Yuumei himself hes quite an instresting character to play with - he likes 'toying' with other emotions especially Zephyrs he part demon after all

Zepher is a jerk - but at least hes a loveable jerk = Yuumei on the other hand - weLL he'll chase just about anyuthing to play with 'you'

the fillers were to show Yuumeis new coperal form - at th emoment in the storyline hed oesnt have one
