Sienna Maiu - M T

I decided to bring this back out of boredom, it's the "Where did your name come from?" ... -game

Let's hope this is in the right spot then shall we?

Alright, so since I'm starting this topic, I might as well tell you about my name then, right?

WRONG!

But I'll do it anyways. *clears throat*

Sienna Maiu - Moonshine Tallgrass
This name came about from a small multitude of things. For the longest time, I had no real persona for online, except for lion_5, which came from a site my brother had me join when I was younger, but soon after they inacted a thirteen and over thing. No big loss for me, my brother was slightly more crushed. (By the time I was old enough to join, I'd forgotten what the site was -plus my registered hotmail account had been erased a couple times by then). The lion (possibly five) came from another person's account, and I thought it was cool. Who knows, maybe the Lion King was still new then (so I was in like, that "phase" or whatever) So it always stuck with me. Plus, five is like, my number and lions are cats, and cats are awesome.
So, I drifted the Nice forums with a few different names for a while. Eventually, I found DMFA and had some strange name or other, but it wasn't until then that I felt the need to have a 'sona.
Later, I joined a site for a television network, called "Teletoon" and they had screen names which were based on a set variation. That's where Moonshine (possibly) and Tallgrass (for sure) came from.
It wasn't until I sat staring in front of my computer at the sign-in screen on Furcadia that I was like, "oh snap. I need a name". And so Sienna and Maiu were taken from two different English-me's and then Moonshine Tallgrass was thrown in (because I'm such a hippy).

Voila, I had a name, and I loved it.

Creating my avatar (finally) was entirely another matter. That didn't get sketched up (idea-wise, heck no was I drawing yet) to "completion" (there was still minor editing to come) until the Saturday night before Easter Sunday in '05.

L'Original apparently there was one.

Roureem Egas

The name I used here came from a character concept I had in mind. Roureem was what I thought would be the stylized romanization of "mirror" reversed from Japanese katakana. (Have I lost you yet?) I was fascinated by the three Japanese regalia of the mirror, gem, and sword and thought up of characters connected to one of the three. They've been revised since then, but I used the name while this little brainstorm started and have kept it for several places.

Egas came from a general suggestion from the first forum I ever registered for, saying a good idea for coming up with an original username was to make it look vaguely real. Not that that's saying much since I know of people named Precious and whatnot, but whatever. Back to the concept thing, I figured a mirror would be linked to wisdom and magic, so I thought of "sage" and reversed that. Pretty sure more than one person figured out the last part, but I think Gabi did at least.

xHaZxMaTx

Just needed a name when I started playing Call of Duty.  I was using Gen.E.Speaking for a while, but I got bored of it.  Started using [!]HAZ~MAT[!], but that was a bit obnoxious, so I just shortened it to xHaZxMaTx.  Since then it's gone between several minor changes (HaZxMaT, ×HaZ×MaT×, and HaZ×MaT).  The alt-codes were getting pretty annoying thouh, so I just stuck with the 'x's.

Why 'HazMat'?  It sounds cool, and it's pretty unique (have only seen a few other people use it, before).

Valynth

My name came from my experimentation with similar sounding vowel sounds and was originally going to to be Valynt, a slight deviantion of "Valiant."  Before I could get to a computer and sign in using this new monstrosity of a name, I had a preclac class in which we discussed numbers to the nth degree for various formulas.  Armed with this I decided to corrupted my already hideous name into the now infamously horrid Valynth.

Contrary to popular belief spread by people unknown *cough that sounds like lurk* it has nothing to do with the valley boy/girl culture.  In fact, I never knew of that culture until about a month after my name was put in motion.
The fate of the world always rests in the hands of an idiot.  You should start treating me better.

Zedd

My name came from a book of mine..Quite old and classic but it didnt form from a MMPR villian or the candian letter Z...But I love to find that book again anyhow..Its mainly a name that inspired me when I 15. Oh the joys...Only a few people who know me well call me Zedd outloud...But its mainly respectful little nik name too

DarkAudit

I was working the night audit shift at a hotel, and it was the time when TechTV still existed and didn't suck. Kevin Rose had a segment as the "Dark Tipper" on The Screen Savers, and so I combined the two and took DarkAudit. No one had that name on any forum I went to, so no matter where you find DarkAudit, chances are, it's me.

Fuyudenki

#7
Ah, names.

Here, I currently go by "Raist."  This was in replacement to my original signup name, "Fuyudenki," which translates in what is probably horribly corrupted Japanese into something like "Winter lightning," and was the last name I developed while on my "Japanese naming" kick.

Raist himself is a character from the game, King's Blood, localized and published for Western audiences by Steve Jackson Games.  My avatar is a scan of his card.  The game is incredibly reminiscent of Uno, but not as expandable, as the 52 characters in the game are each unique, so stacking another deck in would result in clones.  Nonetheless, a friend has considered attempting an expansion, as you get to know the 52 characters pretty well, and begin making up stories about them and associating personalities.

Another thing we do during the game is occasionally decide that a particular player in the game has had their essence captured and implanted into one of the character cards.  In this case, a Male(as the game name implies, marriage between male and female characters plays strongly into game mechanics.  You're literally creating a royal lineage.) from clan 9(out of 9, numbered 1-9), who bases his life around romance(as opposed to money, music, or war) was named Raist VII, "The Lovable."  He happens to bear a striking physical resemblance to me, the pose on the card reflects a personality reminiscent of my own, and his title, "The lovable," fits me to a T.(at a recent event, a friend commented on how I was greeting and greeted by nearly every student who walked past.)  Most of my friends hold Raist as being synonymous with me, so I went ahead and adopted the identity.

By odd coincidence, last night was the first time I've played the game where Raist didn't appear reliably in the genealogy for every round.

Alternate note: Some long time ago, I went by "Lone Wolf."  As the name was usually taken, I generally slapped the number 325 on the end, but often, was the only "Lone Wolf" active in a particular place.  I mention this because I've had momentary bouts of confusion when this board's "Lone Wolf" posts, or is spoken to/about.

As you may expect, my furry avatar is a wolf.  Anthro or feral, I generally don't care.  He's currently in flux: should he stay gray-coated, as I originally developed him, or should he be a Red wolf, to more closely match my hair color?  I'm leaning towards the latter, but I plan to experiment, and see how it'll effect his appearance.

Jim Halisstrad

I killed the original owner in a battle of honor.

Kuari

Kuari Madori Thunderclaw
(coo-ar-ee mud-or-ee thun-dur-claw)

I first used this name back when EverQuest was big for my Vah'Shir character.
Kuari popped into my head at random.  Either I made it up or I found it in a book and forgot which one, but the one that comes to mind as a possibility is the Black Gryphon series.

Madori I just made up...  it just sounded good.

Thunderclaw sounded catchy for a feline.  That and my character image was coming to mind.  It just fit somewhat for a wind magic specialist.  Sounded better then Windclaw at least.

I could go off on how he became skilled in light and dark magic (thus Twilight) but this isn't the place.

Ryudo Lee

An ex-girlfriend had actually made up a few characters named Ryudo, and when we hooked up, we would roleplay over IM's and she bestowed the name on me, at least for those RP's.  Then she introduced me to Furcadia.  Since I figured we would be spending a good deal of time together on that, I named my main alt Ryudo... but he needed a last name... hmmm... my last name begins with an L.  What other names begin with L?  Hmm... Lee.  Okay, that'll do.  And since the big thing at the time at the Audobon Zoo was the new white tiger cubs, I made him a white tiger.  And thus Ryudo Lee was born.  The wings came later.

Thanks to Taski & Silverfoxr for the artwork!

KarlOmega1

Karl is how they spelt Carl over in Germany (of course I was born on a US Military installation over there in 1985)

Omega basicly means "the end"...because I thought, in the end, I would always go by the Name of Karl.

1 is just something I thought just in case someone wanted to be named KarlOmega as well...

TheGreyRonin

I'm fairly sure I've been over this before, but I'm only half awake.

When I first came online, I used an old childhood nickname just for fun. A friend had started calling me "Stalker" because of my odd habit of wallking very quietly.

Several year later it had evolved to "Stalker, the grey ronin." A divorce and a vindictive ex-wife forced a nickname change in several places, so I simply dropped "Stalker".

"The" is obvious; there's only one of me and most people are very glad of that. "Grey" denotes age, wisdom...and is my favorite color. A "Ronin" is a masterless samurai, either through the death of his master or by a failure of honor. I've had sword training, and my sensei passed away long ago.

Ironically, I never really considered the honor aspect of my name until the past few years, where I've had to rethink a few aspects of my ethics and personal beliefs.

So. In several years online, I've only run across one other "Grey Ronin", and last I heard he went inactive a few years back. If you see this nickname, or avatar, chances are pretty good it's me.

by that reasoning you're almost a superb user...

Angel

My name was the handle I used on the AOL anime message board before AOL started sucking. I just thought it sounded really cool.

It eventually turned into a hacker character whose real name was Colleen Ravonelle Black. She was a mix between The Matrix (her fashion sense) and the character Rat from The Core (her brilliance and frequent arrests). And due to an inside joke, she got a pet chicken. Named Bob. In an apartment building where she lived.  :animesweat (Logic in stories was never really my forte...)

The name doesn't match me at all, but I use it out of familiarity.

Kitsune Ascendant

#17
Well, I started off with the only kitsune MTG card I had (kitsune riftwalker) back when the dmfa board was on "the nice". When we moved, I decided to change it slightly, since I thought ascendant sounded better. I soon found that there's a MTG card called Rune-tail, Kitsune ascendant. This is actually the origin of the first used name of one of my RP characters, though from his perspective it was the ninth name. Sunheart and Moonsoul are still being developed.
I may be a bit young to be worrying about it so much, but I'm not changing this sig until I find true love.
yappities by silverfoxr, and are awesome.  Thanks!

RobbieThe1st

Well, RuneScape has a great role in the creation of my username. How? Let me explain.
A few years ago, after we had gotten internet for ourselves, one person at school played runescape, as as you might expect, quite a few people tried it for themselves. I registered as 'robby120', being as my first name is 'robbie', but I was quite naive in the workings of the internet, and anyway decided on 'robby120'. Anyway, I started playing, and never got out of the tutorial. The next day, Runescape2 came out. So, I logged in, having skipped the tutorial, and ended up bumbling around, until someone finally gave me a bronze pickaxe and I mined quite a bit over the next week or so. I decided to go through the tutorial properly, and created 'robby140'. I transfered everything I had(Yea it was against the rules, but who cares?) to the new account. Anyway, after a while, I decided I liked Runescape, and decided 'robby140' wasn't nearly a good enough name, and after thinking for quite a bit, came up with RobbieThe1st(as 12 characters is the limit).

Name wise, the story ends here, but I will finish my story.

I promptly created the account, and transfered my stuff, including my growing bronze pickaxe collection.
Now, perhaps two weeks later, I decided my mining was too high and created yet another account, this one called RobbieThe2nd. <- I made a *stupid* mistake there.
Skip ahead a couple years. I ended up stupidly losing 'robby120' and 'robby140' to the first and only time I got tricked by a fake website(again, I was naive, and even after viewing the source, I still put in my password). I also lost a couple valuable items off of RobbieThe2nd(nothing off RobbieThe1st). Even losing this stuff, I still didn't beg!!
Skip ahead to about a year ago(wow, time flies). I now play Runescape only a bit, and decided to start reading comics. I ended up going through the TopWebcomics list, and, when bored one day around 1am, came across TwoKinds. It impressed me quite a bit, and as a result, spent until 8am reading the entire archive. I didn't get much sleep that night. :P
Thanks to that, I ended up looking through other furry comics, and eventually decided to read DMFA about 7 months ago. And here I am.
I now, and in my entire time on the internet(aside from runescape/stuff that needs my Runescape username), only use RobbieThe1st as my username(I *do* have the account on runescape still).
Well, thats my story.

-RobbieThe1st

gh0st

ok so it all started when i was around 8 or 9 i saw my brother sign up for an email acount and i decided that i should get one so being the little sonic fan/pyro that i was i decided to go with yellowflametailse this of course got to boring as i had no friends and all i got was spam. finally after about 3 years i learned a few things and decided that i needed to get a new gmail account i decided to give up on the "yellow flame tails" mostly because Nintendo killed him with sonic heroes. so because i lost one of my child hood heroes i resorted to playing starcraft and my favorite unit was the humble ghost also apparently there is a person out there that has beaten me to this name so i decided to add a zero instead of an "o" and added a mast3r to the end of it well it's current time and i just recently started to whenever i sign up for anything just put gh0st. it's nothing important except that it reminds me where i really became a true gamer.

Brunhidden

i had one day sat down to think of an alias due to never having given my name out and actually wanting to participate

first- it had to be unique, weird, and ambiguous

second- i would like it to be hard for people to remember and probably just think of it as 'the guy with the weird name'

third- a complete disregard for pronunciation, it would never be said aloud

the final product was "Brunhidden the Wired", which later became 'the muse' and now has been forgotten entirely. little did expect being called 'brun', 'brunny', and the ever disturbing 'brun-brun-chan' which i have yet to understand. :intro
