For a wide enough definition of 'battle', it's possible. There's always some form of struggle involved in the search of power. But if you're referring to a physical battle, not necessarily. Power is often acquired in far subtler ways.

The obvious answers are quite simple, overtly acquired power attracts attention and heroes, villains and hired assassins come to stop you, steal your power and/or to eliminate you.  Thwarting these ploys are what makes it fun, matching wits against others and daring battles to the death are truly exhilarating. 

I am not saying that this is the wisest way to go about things, but the subtle means isn't as much fun... far more effective though.

Mindlessly joyful is a lot more fun, but it doesn't do much to change the world. It depends on what you want out of life, I suppose.

Is it a good thing that I found a d when I should of found one nearly a decade ago when I was still learning about them, which would make it pointless to learn about if i'll forget about, whitch makes nearly all things I learn pointless, but in return I can remember them anyways, but forget them over the summer break and remember it when school begins, the d of course?
