So now the real question - from Abel's point of view as well - is whether him having wings had anything to do with him being the specific target.

From the comic, it looks like Abel may have just been the first or only one Devin saw with his parents. Running into your school-mates and seeing how their life is outside of school isn't that common.

Actually, Devin's father and mother were wealthy merchants who spoiled him rotten, and when they discovered that he was an embarassing bully they disowned him, feeding him stories of his 'original' mother and father who died because they hated him, which he eventually came to believe because it's easy to make kids believe random things happened just by telling them it over and over.

They did it because they were sadistic bullies too, it's where he got it from.

Maybe you are right Terrycloth. But in my opinion it's up to Devin to shape his character to be the bully of somebody else entirely. It's all in the matter of a choice.
