I dunno. Mikelo seems pretty miserable on having to spend all that money. :)
I wish somebody would send me flowers at work.
...or that I had an angry chick demanding that I send her flowers...
...but no, everybody hates me. :cry
(On the positive side, Valentine's day is the last day of the ``let's rub it in to the lonely people season.'' Remember, it's only six months until the breakup season! It's rather gauche to break up with someone between Thanksgiving and Christmas, so that's when (I am told) everyone does it)

Only single females really. The sadness men feel for being single seems to make up not having to buy a huge dinner, chocolates, and cater to a woman's every wish for a day.
Besides, what was it Amber said? Just because you are alone and miserable doesn't mean you're alone in your misery? I'm single too and my two best friends here are dating each other, so I don't even have any single friends to hang out with. I wish I had someone to make it a special day too, but look on the bright side, after tomorrow it doesn't come for another year.

Love... is to know comfort, to revel and to feel security, excitement, vulnerability, inspiration and closeness all at once. Love is powerful, and so hard to describe, yet it is definite and all-encompassing. Love is with you, and nowhere else.
Love is darkness.

...I thought that that was the whole point of romance? Wining and dining and generally trying to do nice things for your significant other? Yeah, I'm starting to think that people would like me better if I pretended that I just wanted to use them.
See, this is one of the reasons I don't celibrate valentines day. It's all commerciallized; flowers from people with no interest, gifts given not because you actually appreciate them, but because if you don't you'll never hear the end of it. Were I not single, I'd do something special for my girlfriend on the day directly before or after Valentines day in protest. It being my birthday doesn't help either; I want my vanilla ice cream cake, and everyone's thinking of chocolates.
Its so easy for me to hate this day
How do you hate a holiday that involves the ingestion of candy? D:
When you don't get any? First year I actually know what I'm missing by being single here... :tired
Wow, angst abounds in this board. Am I the only one who's happy that Valentine's day has rolled around? Anyone? Come on, this holiday has caaaandy...
Still, awesome art from Amber. Everyone give her a big round of applause for not only churning out this massive comic, but for doing it just in time for Valentine's Day. I personally can't wait for Mikelo's own comic... he's always interested me as a character as his personality and surroundings flesh out. Cheets's expressions are hysterical as well, especially in panel 3, which is all sorts of awesome. I haven't seen much of her, but I already love Cheets.

Yeah, but then you're reminded that the candy's so cheap because nobody bought it. And they didn't buy it because they don't have anyone to give it to. Which means that they'd rather be alone than have to deal with
you.
You know, I could make that work. I could buy a bunch of candy and then do unspeakable things to it.
I'm going to wear my black turtleneck tomorrow, to protest this day. (And because it's an excuse to be mopey.) How evil do you have to be to create a holiday that only the revoltingly mushy can enjoy? It's torture for us single dweebs!

And a second look before going to bed reveals some surprisingly interesting background work. Nice touch.
:erk I concur with Mr. Hazardous Materials.
I have read that the definition of love is to regard another's happiness above your own.
Today, I deliberately plunged my hand into recently-boiling water simply to prevent a mess from occurring by the fault of a co-worker's mistake. By this and many similar incidents it appears I regard my own happiness as rather lacking in value. By this equation, I can calculate that I must love almost everyone...
That's funny, since there is no chance short of a miracle that I will find any love in return on this Valentine's Day, any more than other the 50 Valentine's Days I've seen.
By the way, my hand is just fine. One can withstand quite a lot of heat if its application is brief enough.

Really? See, it's always the women I hear whining about it. A lot of guys here at my college don't care about relationships, only hookups, leaving two types of females: the sluts and the sad lonely girls who want a decent guy like me =( Of course, I actually do have someone special to me this year, but we both decided that it just wouldn't work because of the distance. Suckage all around.
And Amber's character designs for females are hopefully more fleshed out than what they appear to be for the Mikelo comic. Mikelo seems like the classic gay bishie (he seems EXACTLY like Abel in Abel's story), Cheets seems like the common tough girl (Wildy), that one weird creature seems like an "M" rated Mab, and then there's the emo... eh. Watching men get beat up loses its charm after the 40th time.
Of course, I will still read anything Amber dishes out. And I love Mikelo even if he is a bishie <3
...Comic needs more Boko.

I wouldn't worry Kattuccino, Mikelo and Cheets are actually acting somewhat out of canon for the sake of a Valentine gag. (In "reality" Cheets works as a life-guard and freelance fashion-designer...both places aren't really ideal for flowers being sent to work. That and if Cheets really wanted flowers she'd just send them to herself.)
Valentine's Comics are usually done as a means for me to take a break from DMFA and make a quick potshot gag...usually at Mikelo's expense. They are meant to be taken simply for humour value. Which I admit is why I'm kind of sad the thread is full of people so angry at this update. It was my hope that the comic would cause a few people to chuckle and feel better about the day...rather than rub salt in supposed wounds. :/

You attached people get 365.2425 days to gloat at us about all the ``snug time'' that we're not getting. We just need one day to remind everybody else about how we feel.
The comic was actually pretty good, especially seeing Mikelo getting his comeuppance for not jumping at the opportunity to do something nice...
Does he know that St. Valentine was clubbed to death for what he was doing? I don't think he'll mind a punch in the kidneys.
Ah, the things we do for friends. Love, fear, what's the difference as long as it gets you flowers in the end? >:3
That is why I heartily believe in being mean to everyone who looks remotely happy on Valentine's Day- and why Darkmoon and I refuse to celebrate it. It's a stupid, money grubbing holiday, and Sweetest Day is just as bad.

I'll admit that I'm single and yet I laughed at it a bit...although a bit of it is because I could see almost the same thing happening to me. Well, at least I know I'll be laughing pretty hard if it does happen to me...or anybody else. Then again, I'll most likely be a nuisance to everyone around me today. I have this odd habit of sneaking up on people without them knowing about it...I'm surprised I'm not hit more often...
St. Valentine clubbed to death? Then getting a kidney punch would be like adding insult to injury. Well, at least there's more lame ways to die, plus he's remembered and did something so it can't have been completely bad.

No, that's the historical origin. St. Valentine was marrying off people the church had ruled should not be married for prejudice reasons, and so he was executed for what he did. And so, through this act of martyrdom, Valentines Day was born.
Then a few millenia pass and commercialism screws it over so it's less about love and more about giving girls candy while boys get jack squat.

Well, Britannica says he died in the 3rd century; the Roman Catholic Church didn't get that kind of power until the 4th century.
It wasn't the Roman Catholics that did him in, I think it was the Roman Empire that went after him.

Sheesh, am I the only single person who isn't depressed by Valentine's Day? I mean, it's not like the lovebirds get a day off work and we don't. Why let one silly day mess with you chi?
I mean, look at the bright side of being single! Don't wanna clean up today? No problem. It'll wait until you're ready. Wanna eat ramen and candy for dinner? Go at it. Sleep for twelve or more hours straight on your day off, instead of being dragged out to do something you probably didn't want to do anyway? You can! Want to spend an entire day in your jammies becaust they're the most comfortable thing you own? Go ahead, because you have no obligation to squeeze yourself into something pretty but uncomfortable to please someone else. You can leave out your video games, books, movies, your art supplies and anything else that amuses you that you'd rather not be bothered to keeping putting away and getting back out. No worries about being "late" or messing with you body chemistry in the hope of preventing such a situation. No need to come up with excuses if you're not in the mood. No drama. Life is good.
I'm not saying it's better to be single, and I'm not saying it's not. I'm just saying both situations have their merits and you should enjoy either while you have them.

Aww Amber, I'm sorry I was all emo over your characters yesterday. I don't generally give excuses, but when you're apartment is covered in mold it's not always easy to be cheerful. I promise no more criticizing you unfairly =)

Nitpicky time... don't 'retractable claws' only extend if the cat has their paw out like they're going to slash someone, and not in like that?
As Amber said, we anthro-felines have our own rules on these things. Those of us with retractable claws usually also have the ability to extend and retract them individually at will.
Very useful if, for example, you need to cut a piece of string, and you don't have a knife or scissors handy...

That is positively the most violently coloured creature of oddness I have ever seen. What's the inspiration?
You could always visit Mabsland and read her desc, you know. (Or were you refering to her shout-out?)
More Murtagoy Action (http://www.missmab.com/Comics/Vol_VDay003.php) from Valentine's Day past.
Sorry I had to bring it back.
