Actually, this guy reminds me of the villain of the third Ratchet & Clank game. You know, how he wanted to turn the populace of the entire galaxy into a bunch of robotic slaves and had the means to do so. Still, forcing people to become robots no matter how much you leave their minds alone is its own kind of evil. I'm perfectly fine with Jayhawk peddling the system to those who want it, with using it as a last resort to save lives, and even with forcing it on Keaton as a form of punishment because all systems properly account for the users' choice in the matter (yes Keaton didn't have a choice but she forfeited that when she killed someone). This is just cruel.

I expect if flamethrowers exist, Matilda would be tempted to install one into her shower.

It's an interesting comment on the anthropomorphisation process that we see Jakob with a sweatdrop to indicate stress and tension... even though dogs (for example) don't sweat, they pant. Something to do with sweating being restricted to those creatures that don't have much fur, as the fur gets in the way of efficient evaporation...

Obscure, I know, but...

Maybe Ashford was onto something when he suspected that world conspiracy.

Ashford was paranoid but he was never really crazy.

Even more obscure:  Canines and felines do sweat, but only through the pads of their paws.  (Something I only recently learned.)  This isn't terribly efficient, so they've worked out other ways of cooling down.  Dogs pant (obviously), causing evaporative cooling in the mouth and throat.  Cats lick their fur, which, as the water evaporates, leaves a cool(er) layer of air around the animal.

Horses, otoh, sweat like... horses.  :-)

On the comic:

Jakob looks like he can't believe his ears.  :-)  Not that I blame him.  Fendrick looks to be another total nutter, and -- what's that phrase? -- barking mad with it.

I've come to the conclusion that Jakob is a weirdness magnet.  Daryil, this guy, Professor Fa'Rana from "The Epsilon Project".  I suppose you could call him a strange attractor...

"When I was at University, they all laughed at my theories.  Said I was crazy.  You don't think I'm crazy, do you Jamie?"

Yeah, Ashford was paranoid and obsessive, but he wasn't stupid.  Nor was he flat out loony tunes, like Fendrick.  Alas, his prior, um, obsessions led others to discount his knowledge of The Subtle Paw.  Ah, irony.

As mentioned, dogs sweat through their paws, and horses seem to support both fur and sweating.  I think I've seen Amber use sweatdrops in DMFA, but I'm not 100% sure.  I will be honest, I was thinking of removing the sweatdrop but didn't get around to it.

On the other hand, a stopped clock is right twice a day (unless it's digital in which case it will probably be blank).

turn lifeforms into machines? my god, he's the furry equivalent of Dr. Eggman (Dr. Robotnik)!

although, in all seriousness...I wonder what Jakob will do to stop this?

Hm, i figure it's more likely Daryil will stop him since i notice that seems to be a projection of him and not the real deal. Then again, i could be wrong.
Ask not for whom the bell tolls, ask why is that guy holding his ears?

I like this guy... He reminds me of that cleric in a larp i had.

Cleric believed that curing ailments was like a bandage. Instead killing someone and reviving them as an undead, was a much better permanent solution to helping someone. As an undead 99.9% of things that effect the living do not even give you a moments worry. (Just you know fire... bad.)

By the end of the run we really weren't too sure who was the villain of our campaign...

this plan has a very twisted logic to it. once everyone is converted to souls within robotic bodies, the entire planet's population will be effectively immortal. it would also eliminate the dichotomy between creatures and beings, since once in a robotic body, personal power is based more on what upgrades a person installs, letting a being be as potent (or more so) than a demon or mythos. the "food chain" and darwinian selection arguements used by many Demons and Mytho's to justify killing beings also falls apart, since robotic bodies need no food, and with no reproduction, there is no more natural selection.

the big problem with the plan is the basic reality.. it wouldn't solves most of the planets problems. economic issues would pretty much remain the same, made worse by the fact the rich could afford more and better upgrades than the poor. cultural clashes would remain, made worse by the psychological trauma caused by being killed then resurrected as a weapon of war. once the war is over, whatever society exists afterwards would rapidly shatter back into nations and factions, trying to monopolize the resources needed to maintain robotic bodies and strategic points of defense of those resources.

Jakob is trying to fix the real problems in the world.. the robotic bodies to help restore all the victims of soul stealing, artificial soul energy to provide a way to get life energy without killing people, various other technologies to improve the quality of life across the planet. it will take a lot longer, and won't solve everything, but it is the tools that will solve some of the issues, and give a chance to solve the rest.
