On a lighter note, I kinda am trying to remember, are the pieces supposed to be on the red spaces or black spaces?

Doesn't matter for checkers. As long as you're both playing on the same coloured squares, it's not a big deal.

I have been there a few times, which is why I will only play by the rules that apply to online checkers.
A game is only fun if victory and defeat are possible, those that can only win by cheating are no fun to play with.
