Haz: Nullus anxietas, you'll get in eventually I suspect.  They'll look at your problem and at the problems others are having if they want their site to maintain popularity.

Dakata: That might be the case.  Though I did read a while ago -- and I wish I could remember where and give you a source because otherwise this is only anecdotal and I really hate that -- that Microsoft controversially discards items that might be spam without asking, from a list of known spam addresses they have and from set regexes.  I'll look this up, see if I can't find it again.

Still, I've heard of lots of hotmail users encountering things like this and it can't be a coincidence.  It might be but I doubt it.

Thankfully however there are lots of good, free email providers out there.  I like Gmail because I can integrate it so well with Firefox.  I'll quite merrily send an invite to anyone that wants in, too, I think I have 200 invites sitting around regardless and if you don't like Gmail, I might be able to find something that you would.

Before Gmail came around, I spent a lot of time trying out loads of different free providers.

Hilary: I like fedoras when it comes to non-fictional clothing, they tend to feel right atop one's head.  Though one of these days I swear I'm going to try a bowler hat, if only to have those I know giggle helplessly at it.

I already have a Gmail account thing, Rowne. Kitsune gave me an invite like a month ago.

I'm just used to using Hotmail. I've used it for 2 years. TWO YEARS.

Ooo. I prefer mutt. I've only been using that for 3-4 years, though - before that I was using pine, but mutt is just... well, it's properly free, which is why I moved, and it's significantly more capable, which is nice, too.

Use what works for you, though. I'm pretty sure most folks here would look at what I use and go "ew" :-)
