That's heavy DOC!   :U
-----------------------------------

So Jyrras really did take the absolutely simplest solution of all... Invent time travel?
Well he really did avert it completely, or did he just make a paradox or something... :erk

He didn't avert it completely, because Deebs is now very, very sad.  And that is unacceptable.

Dekari

Short answer, yes, he just started a "grandfather paradox" of sorts.

But seeing as the mini arc is ending in the next strip, I don't think it matters too much.
I somehow get the feeling that you didn't think your cunning plan all the way through.

Thanks go to Kipiru and Rhyfe for the art work used in avatars.

Either that or the timeline and universe will just collapse :3

Considering that Jyrras looked to be in the middle of something, he'll probably forget, and start the whole thing over again (thus creating a Stable Time Loop)...

Although it could explain why this is non-cannon: because the paradox wiped it from canon.
Someone in the valley calls out to me;
A voice from the past, fading out fast;
Am I to be wary, do I have to be;
I just know, I have to be there.

So basically this is DMFA meets Star Trek?

Jasonrevall

now jy will wind up taking deebs out on a flying sleigh just to make her happy. Oh what fun it is to fly in a rocket powered sleigh. I have officially been jollified, so Amber has succeeded.
Forward ever onward upward aiming skyward.

Well, she requested an amount so low that people could afford to send the entire sum.  Or maybe that was her plan all along  >:3

I keep being drawn to the third panel and how Jyrras isn't flustered, nor surprised, that a future Jyrras invented time travel and pops in out of the blue (literally, it appears...).

Yes, I think Jyrras owes Deebs a sleigh ride with Santa...

Well, considering the complexities of time travel, A. Jyrras could have opened another timestream, B. he will forget to turn off the "junk on the roof," or C. this arc is too short to possibly discuss the paradoxial nature of time travel and we really shouldn't worry about it.

But Deebs still isn't happy.

Side note: $150 already met! Who's ready for some cubi lore?

Just spreading the confusion around. There's enough for everybody!

I personally do not expect Ms. Williams to address the time paradox of Jyrras' answer to averting the crisis, after all, as noted multiple times before this is a non-canon Holiday romp for fun. However, I am surprised that the 'peeps' haven't filled this thread with several pages of theories and conjecture, bordering on fan-fics... :P

Yes, Ms. Williams, I am enjoying this mini-arc, and I am curious to see how you wrap it up tomorrow.

I wonder if it's possible to combine theories on time travel with Schrodinger's theory, and a time paradox will only occur if you acknowledge the possibility, something Jyrras doesn't seem all that concerned about. Maybe the universe will split into two timelines, but instead of a timeline in which Santa dies and one in which he doesn't, there will be a timeline where there is a paradox and another where there isn't, and eventually

At least this time it wasn't a wallpaper competition that would threaten to eat everything I had whole. :b

Well, who's to say he wasn't already working on the time machine before the events of this comic occurred, and he was just putting the finishing touches on it or getting it operational again after it had some down time, thus eliminating the grandfather paradox.

Then again, let's not waste our time contemplating temporal paradoxes and just enjoy the mini-arc.

I don't let the possible temporal paradoxes ruin my enjoyment of the Terminator movies.
Heck, I'm pretty sure they implicitly used the multi-universe theory of time travel to make the TV series canon with the 3rd and 4th movies.

I'm gonna go off the comic for a bit and onto the cubi stuff for a moment. We know of 1 clan founder that is alive, Cyra, possibly 2 if Fa'lina turns out to be one.  We've heard the names of the following clans: Macha, Seme, Hrienth, Nact'larn, Jin, Taun, Que'tnar, and of course Cyra, Siar, and possibly Fa'lina clan. Of these we have confirmation that Hrienth and Sair are dead and thus wouldn't be appear. I wonder how many of these others will appear.  Also, If Macha appears and is a purple cat I'm going to call it cop out. And if it's a woman with red hair I'm going to be freaked out.

Alondro

Three's a crowd:  One lordly leonine of the Leyjon, one cruel and cunning cubi goddess, and one utterly doomed human stuck between them.

I still say that the universe did explode or something to that effect, for this continuity. Which is why it's non-canon. (aka there's no point discussing if a paradox happened, because it DIDN'T happen)

Then we warp back to the "canon" continuity and show Jyrras concluding that if future Jyrras gave him that warning, that Santa must be real, and properly preparing for Christmas.

Actually this would work.

Jyrras develops the time gate so he can contact himself in the past to avert santa's death.

Upon being told what to do, Jyrras is basically informed that Time travel is possible, and as such he understand that he needs to send the message back to himself to avert whatever disaster that happened in the first place.

Bam! There you go, closed time loop.

No it doesn't, because there're two time loops then from your theory: the current one with santa supposedly dead, and the informed one with santa supposedly alive. Which still means that current deebs has every right to be upset. Or that for all intents and purposes, current jyrras changed nothing.

Accomplished without the use of exotic matter.  It appears that Amber is not a presentist and may support the theory of wormholes for time travel.

I vote for the universe asploding.

In a way, I think it did.

Naldru

It has been established that the fae are not subject to the constraints of linearly experiencing time.  It has been stated that the the defenses on the roof are at least partially based on fae magic (or fae technology if you want to consider it in that manner).  It therefore follows that the use of fae technology must require the adoption of techniques to prevent time paradoxes from destroying the world and the universe within which it exists.  (Otherwise, the existence of the fae would destroy the world on an hourly basis.)

The next question would therefore be the nature of the fae technology that eliminates the danger of time paradoxes and how it works.  Er ... it's magic?
