I just checked the archive quick and found a cubi and warp-aci with very similarly colored marks/glows as Dan and Fi. http://missmab.com/Comics/Vol_553.php

That might be a more practical solution than a permanent marker - Abel likes sewing, so surely he can make a Fi-sized hat.

I agree. Abel seems to be getting lazier the more stress he has on him... is that a weakness on the invincible jerk!?

Love the "Oh crap, he's right!" look on Abel's face when Dan mentions the mark on Fi's head.

Dan is probably experienced in following a trail and getting information from what insignia his opponents are wearing (military intelligence type training).  That would be useful in adventuring.  Abel may be more experienced in cubi matters, but Dan is probably more skilled in how to conceal signs of your presence so that you can scout out the land and ambush your enemies.

Dan is a skilled warrior. His problem is when he stops thinking because of anger.  If he hadn't lost his temper, he would have mopped the floor with Regina and DP.

Well from what we have seen of Regina, she can barely count as a opponent.

Take a step back and think about this. What do you really think is going to happen if you give Fi a hat and tell him to never take it off? Are you forgetting why we nearly ended up with blended Aci recently? Fi has the attention span of a ferret.

I'm not so certain.  Take this strip to the end of the arc. Even on an adventure that is not pressed upon him, at no point does Dan act with anything even remotely resembling forethought or even common sense. His swordsmanship might be pretty good which might have taken down DP or Regina, but Dan Ti'Fiona seems to be lacking in judgement, period. Recognizing symbols, or concealing them, might be out of his ability range.
Someday, when we look back on this, we'll both laugh nervously and change the subject. More is good. All is better.

No elaboration needed: Dan is many things, a master of incognito is not one of them.. And regarding knowledge of cubi: Back to basics. Very basics.

Hmm...Wonder if Dan can try attempting to claim that the WS brand is his clan symbol instead, as a further distraction/distortion of the truth..

A voice from the past, fading out fast;
Am I to be wary, do I have to be;
I just know, I have to be there.

The other alternative that came to mind is that Cyra imbued Fi with new power/knowledge through Fi's link to Dan...which would also explain Abel's reaction and how Abel knew Dan talked to Cyra.

Don't know about knowledge, but I can understand Cyra giving Fi a power upgrade.

Well, I didn't mean in the sense of intelligence...that would make Fi less fun anyway :)  But what came to mind was from one of the books in the 2nd (and lesser IMHO) half of Roger Zelazzny's Chronicles of Amber.  The main character is trapped ain a sot of nether realm and one of the Powers of that universe gives one of his magical doohickeys teporary sentience and hints about what to do that reveal themselves at the appropriate time.

Michael Chandra

Which seemed like a useless addition without the third series explaining things about those realms. Unfortunately we'll never see that third series.

Is it me or is Fi getting bigger by the strip.
Dunno about horse-sized, to me he looks like he might be the size of a very large dog.
Huh, very large dog? Only a bit larg... Sorry, I keep forgetting I measure with Great Danes as standard.

Forycles

Sorry to interrupt, but what was that about Amber's series?

GabrielsThoughts

Fortunately, Abel only has to hold the pen in one spot long enough for the ink to spill out over the mark...since fi is like pater that sould be a relitivel painles process...unless theink seeps into his brain, and makes him weird.

Perhaps Fi should stop being such a wuss.
I mean come on! Fi is pushed around by EVERYONE.

Sorry to interrupt, but what was that about Amber's series?

Not Amber's. Amber. It's a country in a fictional setting by Roger Zelazny, run as a monarchy by a family of near-immortal magicians. The hero of the first five, Corwin, is one of those princes who makes a run for the throne, gets thrown in jail, blinded, grows his eyes back (there is an in-story explanation, but it's too long to go into here; suffice it to say that it takes him five years and he's not terribly happy about it, and he regenerates much faster than most of the family), breaks out of prison, raises an army and goes back to take over again, gets shortstopped partway there by someone else's taking of the throne, and eventually stops because he didn't want the throne after all, he just didn't want the incumbent to keep it...

The second five get more complex to explain, but are about his son, Merlin, who goes looking for him. Merlin is hampered by someone attempting to kill him once every year, distracted by pretty women and magicians, sometimes in the same body, locked in caves, and eventually manages to figure out that the universe is a lot bigger and stranger than it looked in the first five.

After that, the author passed away, without ever actually finishing the whole lot. I think I have two copies of the collection, in one book, in two different countries. I really need to get around to organising my book collection...

Edit:
Dammit, TW, can't you have at least put some effort into it? ;-]

What, people were talking about Amber and Frakir and I missed it? NOOOZEZ  :cry

Btw, if you get Mana from Heaven, (a collection of short stories by Zelazny) they have 6 Amber short stories, all set after Prince of Chaos ends. One of them is even from Frakir's PoV.
