RE5
Apparently there's a demo on x-box live for RE5... i'll be AFK for like an hour while it downloads... i'll update after trying it

Soo... after playing the demo for a few days, i've found 1 major flaw... apparently Bag-tanium armor, with a twine-enite frame is impervious to bullets, and light explosives... and shooting someone in the hand, while they're carrying a chainsaw isn't enough to cause them to slip...

I've downloaded, played it and erased it shortly after. I fail to see why Capcom insists in such horrid gameplay schemes instead of the tried-and-true gameplay you see in 3rd or 1st person action games.

I've always hated the RE series and RE5 did not change my opinion

Viruses make people hardcore.

And chainsaw people tend to be very hardcore.

And yet many people have played from the first game and enjoy the control scheme and gameplay mechanics, even if 4 and 5 are a leap away from the claustrophic survival horror of the first games. You may always hate it, but in the same vein others will love it for the exact same reason.

...I actually have no idea why I'm defending the game, as I haven't even thought of buying it. I just don't like waaagh because 'you' think it sucks when others can obviously get over, or don't care about, such problems. :b
This post has been brought to you by Bond. Janus Bond. And the Agency™. And possibly spy cameras.

To each their own.

I loved RE4, and from the looks of it, RE5 is basically a ramped up, less irritating version that doesn't have you jumping to a menu every time you want to pull out a grenade, and gives you a companion that's actually useful.. Personally, I've always liked that Capcom ISN'T afraid to try a few new things, and most of their more hardcore titles, like RE4, have recaptured a lot of the challenge and more simple enjoyment of gaming's older days.

It's probably a "please the fans" case, Capcom seems afraid to give RE a more "updated" control scheme in fear the legion of fans will disapprove it. I really think the general reaction to this game would be a lot different if this was the first RE game

The way I see it, Left for Dead shows the right way to make zombie-fighting games - If I'm playing a zombie-fighting game, I prefer not having controls that make me feel like I'm the zombie, thank you.

Clover Studios and megaman would like to argue that point with you.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to wearing my zombie-slayer gear again.

Lost Planet, perhaps? You do have a point, tho - this very topic is about a game that is the 6th or 7th sequel to one of ther series  :U

:(

too soon?

I too mourned the passing of that great company and it's original games, but Halo's massive and inexplicable shadow is a hard thing to live under.

As Janus so aptly put, for some of us, the scheme used by Capcom for the RE series is either a love or hate relationship. Personally, I have always enjoyed the theme theyve used, but I've also played since the very beginning. While I understand game like L4D having a more appropriate take on the zombie horror theme, I was never a particular fan of how most pull it off, and L4D was no exception.

As for RE, it follows the same scheme of several series I have played throughout my gaming career, including Silent Hill, Alone in the Dark (the new one), and Dead Space, so I really can't complain. That said, it is true that this is a revamp of RE4, quite literally, as to give a small spoiler, you fight a very similar fight withni the first 10 minutes of the game, much like the one you fight in RE4, including a one shot, one kill miniboss that is extremely difficult to beat. Fun for all.

After turning this into a drinking game in record time, i have learned 3 very important lessons about resident evil 5...

Lesson 1: Resident Evil is extremely entertaining to watch while drunk

Lesson 2: Resident Evil should not be played while drunk

Lesson 3: ammo is a more precious resource than gold, silver, or gem stones

This applies to many shooter games, including Dead Space  :rolleyes

Btw, expect to spend some time upgrading weapons and such to get all the extras.
