Yeah, but they only reached 22(8), which is 18(10). Hardly enough to worry about...

I'd be inclined to let them count in whatever base they like, as long as it's recorded in base 10...

And by the way, counting in hex wouldn't 'drive up teh counting'.  If anything it would make it harder to break records that are in base 10.

I would challenge people to do an irrational base. If anyone can pull that off, I would give the "Too much spare time" award to them.
