Power dissipated by a resistor = (i^2)R. That is, any resistor will dissipate some power when used. Seeing as an AC adaptor cord has resistance, it will dissipate power. Most of the time, power is dissipated as heat. Thus, stuff heats up. Oh, that also goes for computer parts, which may explain why only the part that plugs in feels hot.

Also, the bottom of the laptop usually lacks ventilation, so the heat can't go anywhere except into your lap.

Either twitchy hands or a low resolution.

Perhaps that oekaki draws the lowest common denominator of society.
