A while back, one of you (I don't remember who) advised me to apply a bitter-tasting liquid to my nails to stop me from biting them.

It worked, but it brought out a new habit: picking the stuff off of my nails incessantly.

Do you think that this whole nail-biting thing might actually be more of a nervous habit, and if you do, what do you think the odds are of me going straight back to nail biting as soon as I stop using the liquid?
