Right.  Black Sabbath were the first death-metal band, formed in 1968.  Their key album IMHO was 'Sabbath Bloody Sabbath' (1973) which had some kick-ass stuff on it, like 'Who Are You?', 'Spiral Architect', 'A National Acrobat' and the acoustic track 'Fluff'.
Their lead singer was Ozzy Osbourne, whom you have just hurt.

Devo... a really, really weird new wave band.  But I think you know them

ELP were one of the biggest names of the 1970s.  Their excesses became legendary.  Tarkus is one of the most famous albums, the one with the robotic armadillo on the front.  They record a live version of Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition in 1972 which the record label refused to release in the US saying "it's a piece of shit and it will ruin your career".  When the number of grey imports came to light they released it on budget and it sold more than 2 million copies.  Then they did Brain Salad Surgery, a success they never really recovered from because they simply couldn't follow it up.

Well, the reason I don't know any of this is that I'm not a music man. I don't listen to much music, and when I do, it's usually random songs that I like, but don't know who did the song, and sometimes I don't even know the song's name. But there are some whole bands that I like. Devo's one of them.
