alright music fans this is a callange for the people by the people!

rules are such!

there are 8 bands each starting with 10 hit points. when you heal one band you must hurt another. you may only hurt one band and heal one band. when you heal you heal for +2 when you hurt you hurt for -2. when a band reaches 0HP they are thrust into the hall of shame and a new band takes it's place. when a band reaches 20 they are placed in the hall of rock and a new band takes it's place.

I see nothing in the rules to stop me from doing, e.g.

On your turn, you may heal exactly one band for 2 points, and you may hurt exactly one band for two points.

i'm used to playing on the IWC forum, where life totals are 100, hurt is 10 points, and heal is 5 points.  Forces someone to die eventually.

On IWC, you're allowed to hurt and heal the same target, which would result in a net drop of 5 points.  This was added about 3 rounds ago, when someone decided to do superhero movies, and there were a lot that nobody liked.  Spiderman 2 was up and down a lot.

Is that Ludwig Beethoven, or is there a band that took his name?

I'm going with +2/-2 by convention although it is still not stated in the rules.

I'm saying it's not specified in the rules, because it is not specified in the rules.
2 is given as an example, no more, no less.

No offence, but if I gave you 3+3 as an example of addition you'd have to have a very strange outlook to deduce that it was only ever allowable to use the number '3' in addition.

Raist has given examples of variants which use other point schemes and while he has stated that it's 2 in this case, he isn't the one in charge of the game.

I take that back.  I think I see where you're coming from - I would not have phrased it that way since it's rather ambiguous.  And as usual when something is ambiguous, I picked the other way of interpreting it.  Still, it could have been better-written.
