Anyway, we do need a voice for Fi and I like yours.  If you need to be prodded, that's fine - as a rule I normally just leave people to their own thing (which sometimes leads them to forget...)  The only snag is that I'm not on MSN, and will not be until and unless it (A) works on Linux / MacOS, (B) doesn't need a MS Passport account.

I am on MSN, since I borrowed my wife's passport account and use pidgin to fake the linux compatibility. You could always ask me to pass on nudges...

Thanks - I may take you up on that.  However I've just remembered that Yahoo's system (which I am on) is supposedly cross-compatible with MSN, so it might not be necessary...

As for Fi, I can't remember (and can't check ATM) - did we ever get Fi's voice for 697-698?
That's the Fi recording that immediately springs to mind, when next Mystiqe is next able to record...

The down side is that I don't have Mystiqe's msn account handy. *grin*

I guess she'll have to contact me to start with.

Here's Kria's lines for Abel's Story, strips 22 through 26 and strips 66 through 70. Here's hoping you like them!  :mowhappy If there's anything else you want me to record just say the word.

Okay, I got the Lorenda lines a bit too late to do much with them, I'll try and sort something out tomorrow instead.

Lorenda.wav is good.  The stuff in the zip file does have a problem, though.  The performance is good but the audio quality is kind of choppy - it sounds a bit like someone's over-used the noise reduction system in Audacity.  I can still use it for test recordings, but I fear it may need to be re-recorded for the final version.  As I say, the performances are good, though.

Lena, thanks for the Kria stuff.  We'll still need to arrange the Abel voice for that segment, but if you're stuck for something to do, the entirety of 334-345 would be handy.

Talking of Abel - Brun, we seem to be missing Abel's voice for strip 734 (which is annoying because I now have Dan's voice for that page!)

Hehehe... It isn't like someone used too much noise reduction, it's exactly what happened. With her own initiative, she went ahead without me and recorded everything in the zip file. I should have told her I'd do the editing like I did before. We talked about it already and suggested she should leave it raw in the future (until she gets a good handle on it).

I'm pretty much over my cold now, so what would you like me to record of Albanion for auditioning purposes?

EDIT: Also, Miz StarRunner's rendering of Lorenda is the aces. Those sobs were authentic enough to make me tingle. And Lena is a good fit for Kria. :)

804 and maybe 805 would be handy.  And yes, I forgot to mention how awesome the sobs were.

Now!  Here is part 1 of 'Light Lunch'.  Lorenda sounds like she's been recorded on a bad cell phone, and there is a certain mismatch between the voices from an EQ perspective, but hopefully that won't impair your enjoyment too much.

Recording quality issues aside, the acting was pretty good.

Continuing the list in #761 after "shopping" destroyed the pacing and killed the joke. I think we should focus more on preserving the humour of the original comic than reproducing the dialogue verbatim.

By the way... what should I hum for 760? The Mission Impossible theme maybe? James Bond? Something else?
The same thing we do every night, Pinky...

James StarRunner

Hehehe... I didn't want to say anything at first since I may be a little bias, but I thought it was pretty good as well (minus the recording quality)

Agreed - that's one of the reasons she only says it twice instead of three times.  Three was overkill, and yes, I'll probably just stop at 'shopping' in the final version.

Up to you, I guess - I don't have a really firm idea myself.  Having said that, he might actually be humming to block Lorenda out, in which case something completely random is called for.

Oh, and I'll have to see if I can make some sucker noises or something.

Performance wise, Kria did a couple of things I didn't expect, like "I'm Good!  At Hurting..."
"I'm good at hurting!" might be nearer to the mark, but it's not something I'm making a big issue of.

A couple things. My friend, Sarah (Who used to have Lorenda's part, but stopped due to being too much of a commitment) did the line for the flamingo character in the latest chapter (since it's likely the only time we'll ever see her).

http://www.crystaltopia.com/sound%20files/sendtojamesnow.wav

--------

And (my owner) Yakanaj started redoing the lines and left it more or less in it's raw form (besides the Deebs lines).

Thanks, people whose names begin with a J!

I've sent a new rendition of strip 820 now. I'm afraid I have a bad sound card so there's not much I can do to improve the quality of the sound. But hopefully you two can fix it. Sorry for any inconveniences this may cause you.

James, I'll have to check the Lorenda recordings.  The flamingo one was good.
Hmm, we'll have to try and recruit players for the amazons as well as the other phoenix.

Whoo hoo! Much less 'noise'! Two big toes up! (Huh? Thumbs up? Thumbs are for weirdos.)

QuoteThe flamingo one was good.
Ah, good. I'll tell her that.

Lena

I really like the flamingo and Lorenda's lines too.  :mowhappy It's going to be awesome when they're all mixed together, I can't wait to hear it!
By the way, here's some more of Kria's lines:

I may have to switch back to to a weekend schedule again, but I'll see what I can do.
The flamingo can't sensibly be done without the Dan voices, the other phoenix, Aliyka and so forth.  However, a complete set of Lorenda lines for Queen Mab would be handy.

QuoteBy the way, here's some more of Kria's lines:
http://myotherdrive.com/file/590.134221.06052008.18140.0008fi/334%20-%20345.wav
http://myotherdrive.com/file/871.105021.06052008.18212.0008fi/478-479.wav

If you get a chance, is there any possibility of redoing Kria's "I'm good at hurting!" line?  Not essential, but it would be nice.

From your new set, 478 turned out nice, but 334-345 seems to consist only of one line.  Is that just me?  :B

It doesn't seem to be just you. I'm not quite sure what happened to the 334 - 345 lines...they were okay before I uploaded them. :animesweat I'll fix those and reupload them.
I did a total of five takes for the other set, so I'll check and see if any of those might work for the "I'm good at hurting" bit.  With any luck, my computer-fu shall return and I can get it right this time.   :mowdizzy

EDIT: This should fix it for 344-345.

Plus, is this more like what you wanted for the hurting line? I can redo it...or any others, for that matter...if it's not.

Erm, I've recently had to realize that I'm just not made out of time like I used to be. So I'm withdrawing myself from consideration for voicing Albanion. It's just one more distraction from the things I really need to be doing, and since there are plenty of other deserving people available to do this character, I'll just fade back into my normal lurking status.  8)

I've e-mailed Tapewolf some more lines.

Thanks.  I see them - I'll check them out later when I have time.

**EDIT**

Gabi's voicings can be found here:
http://dmfa.it-he.org/dmfa/gabi/

There were a couple I wasn't sure about at first, but on second listening I think they'll work.

Lena,  I've just checked out your newer set and I like them.  Yes, your retread of 'I'm good at hurting' is about right.  Thanks for redoing it!

Now, who is still in the running for Albanion?  Because I need to sort out the poll before I forget again...

J.P. Morris, Chief Engineer DMFA Radio Project * IT-HE * D-T-E

Tapewolf

Right, I've managed to screw up again so there still isn't a new recording.  However.  I'd like to get the Albanion shortlist sorted out.

I believe we have:
1. Gabriel's Thoughts
2. Llearch (recording pending ?)
3. Sofox (recording pending)
4. Tezkat

I had doubts about Tezkat, him sounding a bit like his Ink recording, but on further reflection they're probably far enough apart.

Then there's my recording, which people seemed to like.  To me he sounds like Merlitz - but if anyone thinks it's worth adding to the vote, I'll do it.

J.P. Morris, Chief Engineer DMFA Radio Project * IT-HE * D-T-E

Tezkat

Heh... I thought I only sounded like my Dr. Ink in that part where he does the mad Fae bit at the end. Then again, I don't think my Dr. Ink sounds like my Dr. Ink anymore. It's been, what, three years since I made those recordings? :animesweat

Hey guys,
I've actually got my voice sample, taken from 804-805.
http://sofoxcentral.com/storage/Albanion%20Voice%20Work_804-805_Sofox.mp3

Well, it's very fast.  In fact it sounds a little bit like he's having a tantrum, or a panic attack or something.  It has potential, though.

**EDIT**

You might find this handy as a guide:

http://www.jpmorris.force9.co.uk/music/albanion_raw.wav.mp3

That was done more quickly than I would normally do because it has to be slowed down.  However, that does make it more critical to avoid slurring the words together.

There is also an abundance of mouth-noises by the sounds of things.  That's not something I usually have a big problem with myself, so it probably falls to someone wiser, like Tezkat to offer suggestions.

J.P. Morris, Chief Engineer DMFA Radio Project * IT-HE * D-T-E

Sofox

Alright, I'm giving it another go. I see where I can fix myself in a couple of places. Thanks for the advice and the example.
Sorry about the mouth noises, I'll see what I can do, but right now I'm blaming my headset.

Well... here is me reading for Aary... on page 497 and 499....

I dunno if its too loud or what not... and I don't think I sound anything like Seraline.. I just read them a few time.. and tried them out...

If there is any other female characters whom you need a voice for that I might be a better fit for just let me know..
