Er, you do know the proper name of the holiday is Pascha, right? Easter is just the name that the Saxons gave it when the Christians started coming into their region.

I didn't get to sleep til 2 in the morning... curse you, sugary goodness.

And my little brother purposely tried to freak me out by microwaving his peeps. Such an inhumane way to go! (And yes, I am well aware that they're just misshapen marshmallows, but they have feelings too!)

Nope. That was Good Friday, too. See, you have to get the body prepared before Shabbat, which starts at sundown on Friday. You have to wait another full day before you can get him down, then. So Joseph of Arimathea collected the body (q.v. Lk 23:52-54).

According to some other legends, he also collected the blood of Jesus into a holy platter struck from Satan's crown as he was cast into Hell...or something like that.
