I know, and my personal understanding of "triangle" also implies all connections being present. But the term has been used for all sorts of chains/lines/Vs/whatever to the degree of being a quasi-legitimate meaning, so I/we have to keep that in mind when people usually speak of a "love triangle"

Men who just listen, apparently.  And don't try to fix their problem either, they hate that for some reason.

Maybe because they like to nag. If you fix their problems, they have nothing to nag about anymore. 
They could also interpret the action of fixing the problem as a way of saying "I don't like your voice, so I'm going to make sure you have nothing to say", or something similarly illogical.
