In a similar vein, I just watched When the Wind Blows again, and I was shocked to find out that many of the scenes had been virtual copies of Protect and Survive:

I knew that it had come from Protect and Survive, but I had no idea that it had been that similar.

Edit: There actually is a design from US Civil Defense from 1979 (labelled an `expedient' design) that features doors.  Of course, in this one, the doors are covered by 12-18 inches of earth, and the entrance is covered in plastic and sandbags.  At that point, it's much less doors than everything that the doors are providing a framework for.

In addition, I never knew that P&S came out in 1976.  I mean, I know that the US had some bad civil defense pamphlets, but we never had anything this bad, and certainly not by the 70's.

(there is a 1950 CD manual that had a design that featured a door, but it seems to be listed under ``what to do if you don't have enough time to plan for an attack'')

I tried looking for a label that said "Warning: Contains Nuts" on a can of Mixed Nuts.  Sadly, the one I checked did not have it.  But I know there are some out their stupid enough to possess it.

Kenji

Oh don't get me started on warning labels, boy. Best one EVER is on a chainsaw.

"Warning: Do not try to stop chainsaw with hands or genitals"

B- 300 yards
C- 100 yards
D- 10 yards if I throw it hard enough

and drink it from a fountain;
that is pouring like an avalanche,
coming down the mountain.

Fi looks like he's posessed by a homicidal demon, and ready to rip out the spleens of everyone within a 30-mile radius.

ZANDVOORT, Netherlands -- If you've lost an 8-foot-tall Lego man, he's washed ashore at a resort in the Netherlands.  People working stalls at the beach at Zandvoort pulled the big, smiling Lego man from the water Tuesday morning.  He has a yellow head and blue torso, and it says "no real than you are" on his chest.

And yes,

it's been done.  Yes, that one, too:

It's scrunched up because of the forum image size restrictions.  Anyway, it says, "I'm really a dingo..."
