Dumb PayPal Question

Im not sure, but I think that people who have PayPal donation buttons on their site have usually applied for a merchant account, which is not free.  However, if I were to give away money with a PayPal account (like to buy stuff), could I give my money to anyone, even if they didn't have a merchant account?

I don't have a merchant account on Paypal. I can accept donations and give donations and buy stuff... So yeah, I assume you should be fine.

Hm....thanks for the information.  Now if only I didn't distrust PayPal with my entire fiber of my being, I might actually use it for its namesake purpose -- to pay a pal.
