02-01 - Paper from heaven

Telegraph ticket tape? Given that Bob had a TV sacrificed to him once, one would think he would have at least sent a message via a grainy, low quality photograph. ...ah, but he has also been around since before the Dragon-Cubi War. Makes sense that his favored trans-universal communication method is less than cutting edge.

...that, or none of his followers send him anything newer yet.  :mowmeep

The Centrist line has moved a long way to the Right over the years.

I'd argue that's a horribly shallow argument, except it's completely true. ~ooklah

He could probably have sent them a nice A4 laser printout, but this is more his style.  I really wanted the answering machine in Xerian 1 chapter 9 to look more 1950s, but hey ho...

02-02 - Claws out is a bad habit, but they do look pretty

Aliens, eh? Hope Xerian's able to convince whichever interrogating officer questions him.

ProfesseurRenard

02-03 - It's nice to be wanted

The justice system works pretty quickly on this world. I shudder to think of that being used for evil ends.

ProfesseurRenard

02-05 - He's a witch, burn her

Oof, if I were Inspector Eris, I would not be in a hurry to find out how versed Lautrec is in the Outer Rim's legal code!

(PS, good to have the site back)

Yes. A society largely based on cooperation might not be geared up for someone who knows how to weaponise the law.  He could do a large amount of damage, if only by showing them what's possible for someone sufficiently ruthless.  And none of it would trip his safeguards.

02-06 - ...For the snark was a boojum, you see.

The shadows seem a little dark here. Is that intentional?

It looked better in the art software, which had a dark theme.  I'll look into fixing it later today.

EDIT: That should be a little better now.

"Well, that rules them out. Coffee and a doughnut?"

Have I mentioned I really miss the 'applaud' feature?

Raskahn

02-07 - Definitely not in Kansas anymore

Huh, these robots? don't have an advanced language. It's like coding. Are they the "henchmen" of this place?

02-08 - Not programmed for panthers

Be thankful he's not calling you a double bass, Lautrec.

I need a captain here, the term "double bass" either comes up as something used in music or something I dare not post here.

The robo-baras refer to Lautrec as a cello for some reason. Does that help with your sea legs, landlubber?

For what it's worth, this was inspired by a photo on Twitter a few years ago.
Recently some furry conventions have been setting up machine vision systems ("Furry.AI" runs them, I think) where you could fursuit in front of them, hit a button and it would try to identify you, and post the picture to Twitter (later Mastodon and Telegram when Twitter added API fees).

One of these pictures shows FlipIsGay caught in mid-leap in front of the camera, wearing a polished black catsuit and fox head.  The system identified him as "cello; violoncello", though the confidence was significantly less than 60%.

EDIT: I have never been able to identify as a cello, though the one at AC2023 declared Daryil to be a pair of skis with 50% confidence.  And, embarrassingly, a fish.

it does and I still regret Googling that!
