Woooo my first topic =3 and I wonder how they will react to the head wings

Azraelle

Grrr, I was hoping he'd drop it or give it to his mom in this issue!  Now I have to wait s'more!  T . T

Mmm... S'mores ...

Zedd

*hands Arzaelle a smore* Here you go...Nice and toasty...

Yeah I wanted her to freak out badly...Damn...Oh well...Time flys when your having fun..Right?

Stygian

Suppose so. But it's still going to have to be a heck of a climax if she makes us wait so...

Roureem Egas

Abel's a bit more composed than I thought he'd be. Then again, I was guessing he'd burst into tears or at least cry a little over recounting the events.

The Lurking Dragon

I get the impression that he's a fraction of a second away from shattering and having a total breakdown. Either that or he's a lot more resilient than I give him credit for. I know I'd be a mess after a day like he's had. I'd spec further but Amber's repeatedly shown far more creativity and deviousness than I have psychic ability.  :mowsmile

Magical artifact *degree*?  I can't imagine a whole degree program centered around magical artifacts.  I can see a course for identifying them, and a course for making them, and then...what, exactly?  Maybe the college is a little like SAIA, and the degree like something you'd get from Walden College.

I do wonder what Hennya's opinion will be, and what she might be able to glean about Abel by inspecting it.

Hey! She's supposed to be getting tea! D:<

I can't decide whether Amber gains or loses points for referencing the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers...

That's why you get iced tea. ;)

I wonder what sort of reactions will result from the head wings. :.

I suspect (oh no! I'm speculating!) we'll see a moment of stunned silence, followed by random hysteria. When have I ever been right though?  :P

Put that tail away boyo! Step away from the pot!

Well, at least Hennya's wrong.

Aaaaah... supporting character development delays the climax yet another week...  :kittydepressed

Say what now?  :mowdizzy Creatures of various races have been making these things for tens of thousands of years. This is a world where magic has largely replaced technology--people have little crystal balls instead of telephones, at least that time period. A magical artifact program might be the Furrae equivalent of our engineering degrees, or at least something like archaeology. You could probably spend decades in the field and not even scratch the surface.

The same thing we do every night, Pinky...

The Lurking Dragon

I'd say i agree with Tez. What Superluser describes is a fairly simple view of magic that is used, for example, in D&D. DMFA's world has magic that seems a LOT more complex and can take on all kinds of odd complications that probably provide endless amounts of different cases. I suppose you could compare it to modern computers in that respect - training lets you identify the components, and depending on skill take em apart and put em back together in different ways, or be familiar with certain OSes and general computer operations. That's my understanding at least. (To put it simply - magic is a BIIIIG field in DMFA.)

History of magical artifacts, Cultural influances in magical arifacts, basic artifact theroy and construction, advanced artifact theroy and construction,  Artifact specialsations (magical weapons, magical armor, transportation, comunication, Housing, etc), practical application of artifact theroy,   then there are the lab courses, interships with artifacers...

Gains.  Definitely gains.
Yes, I was one of those looser kids who watched the first few season of Power Rangers, you got a problem with that? :shifty

And Henya, the odds are against ya  :giggle
Get out of my mind, idea!  I already have an idea in here!
Don't you hate it when you have an idea, don't write it down, and forget it?

Thanks, TGH. Now I don't have to write that list up. :-)

Look at the middle frame again.  He's about to.  Although Lurking is right, he's probably just short of a breakdown (having lived a cosy life in the city - had he stayed in the village he'd probably have been better able to cope with it).

I've never seen that, but since tea works by absorption, you'd still have to heat it up and then cool it down, unless you're trying to make QVC tea.  (I still hold out hope that Hennya is going to do something like that).

Who can tell?  I'm still wondering what Cid is going to do when he comes back and finds a monster instead of his child (a'la Compay of Wolves).

You could probably spend decades in the field and not even scratch the surface.

You could spend your entire life studying Roman alphabet calligraphy and barely scratch the surface, like Edward Johnston did.  But it doesn't mean that you can get a B.A. in Roman alphabet calligraphy.

The only engineering program that I'm aware of that is so narrowly tailored is printmaking, and even that is a certificate program.  I guess I don't have a problem if Hennya's talking about a certificate program, but.

As a thought experiment, try substituting the word 'electronics' for 'magical artifact' :P

I dunno.  I still think that it would be a short program.  Whereas in electronics you can deal with prefabricated solid state devices (transistor, &c.) that you connect, I have a sneaking suspicion that in magic, there are no prefabricated spell elements.  And when you have that, it would become difficult to separate practice from theory, and at that point, you're essentially taking a degree in practical magic anyway.

But I didn't come to argue about that. (I'll concede that it's getting close to an EET degree, but I still think it's a little thin)

Well it looks like the amulet's powers will soon be revealed.
Either by some analysis, or wings popping out from multiple directions.

llearch n'n'daCorna

I'm wondering if a) Abel's two pair of wings will appear, and b) if....

Nah. I'll leave the guesses about what will happen when Hennya takes it until later. After all, we've got a whole week before the next update, no? :-)

Odds are had you not changed it back right away, you could have read below the little "last edit by ____" thing.  And keep in mind most mods are instilling a new policy to put the strip number up to help lesson confusion for readers since sometimes the date isn't enough.

So I would recommend you put the number back up before I have to go in and change it..and then give you a warning for going against mod/admin rulings.
