I was actually refering to a mythos dating ritual, where they spar to see if their date is worthy to go out with again. If not then their date won't survive the first night. But since Dan survived, Matilda will want to date him again.

I was actually using that as a term saying that he was getting thrown around the room. The only "lucky" he got was lucky he survived the night.

Oh, people are "getting lucky" all the time, just not "on screen". How else did the various persons come to be? A furry stork?
