It's "Aeon".

:B

No, it's 'dead as a dodo' after i'm done with them.  :D

So far I'm only at the third mission with the UEF on easy, but I think I have to read some strategic stuff here and there about effective unit deployment, because my fleets can get slaughtered pretty quickly. The enemy also has a hard time getting it's foreces up, but then again, the should when I'm pelting them with heavy artillery.

I saw the box in a shop this week, actually. Is it as good as the early teaser/trailer hints?

I think it is. If you like Total Annihilation, then you'll like this.
Just make sure you have a really beefy pc and graphics card, or be prepared to do without the visual shiney stuff, like refracting water, super-detailed textures, shadows, etc.

The AI is also quite good. Instead of just throwing large quantities of units at you, it actually tries to cut you off, and tries to find alternate ways into your base.
Also, the enemy commander doesn't fight until it's dead. If it has to retreat because it's outgunned, it will retreat, and then show up later fully repaired and ready to kick your butt off the planet.

Now all this game needs is a Total Annihilation Total Conversion mod.

Pfft.

You can't kill the Messiah.
This post has been brought to you by Bond. Janus Bond. And the Agency™. And possibly spy cameras.

Actually, that reminds me of the time I sent 5 Cybran Gunships to take out an ACU. They took it out, with four of the gunships going up when the ACU cooked off, the fifth riding the blastwave out. Epic. :B

There really needs to be a "GTFO" command that sends your units out of a nuke's blast radius when hit.  :U

EDIT: I even saved the replay of that game for those who want it. :P

Hmm, I'm still happy with CnC: Generals and the dozens of mods for it... but I've been watching this game for a long time now. I'm thinking I should get it... it would sure be a better investment than The Burning Crusade...  :B

I've been really interested in this game myself, but due to my general.... obsession with managing one small group of units to the detriment of my entire effort, I'd probably have trouble, as much as I'd enjoy it.

That's why I feel more comfortable with games like Faces of War. Course, I'm a bit of a realism advocate myself and HP bars on vehicles just don't quite feel right for me (Unless they're 'mechs, because that means something else...)

I read the review for that today and sweet muffins above that looks complicated (unless you put everything on auto).

It's been so long since we've had a solid sci-fi RTS. Those sellouts haven't produced an RTS in years, sci-fi or otherwise. Some guys keep tempting me with pretty games that turn out to be utterly unplayable due to gross useability flaws and gameplay weirdness. There've been a few interesting offerings, but none of them had the kind of replay value that keeps you coming back for match after match.

Hmm... demo just finished downloading. Part of me hopes I'll hate it. I need the sleep.  :mowtongue

The same thing we do every night, Pinky...

The demo is quite limited. Only 1 playable race, and only the first 2 tech levels are available for a few story-missions.
Also, you need a REALLY beefy pc for proper shiney. Mine is a Intel 6400+ dual core, 2 gb ram, and an Nvidia 7950GT(512 MB), and when the battlefield gets busy, there is noticable lag.
Still, if you liked Total Annihilation, then SupCom is right up your alley.
Also, in the latest patch there is a new interface that takes up a lot less space on your monitor.
