Especially if they're Orks. With no backup, your precious little Baneblade will be ripped to pieces in melee combat. ;) You might as well forget the fact you ever built it.

Stygian

I really don't like those kinds of heavy super-units. They can't easily be combined with a good and solid formation. That's why I like Commanders and Chaplains a lot better. You need balance and strategy. And throwing a Baneblade against even a smaller strikeforce of mine when I'm playing Space Marines or Tau will only be a resource loss. I usually try to gear as much against firepower and hit-and-run attacks as possible, but I also use medics and such extensively to try and make my troops last very long so they can harry you down while my Dreads take all the punishment.

ShadesFox

You two seem to misunderstand the point here.

While whole armies get devoted to countering the baneblade, the entire rest of the IG goes and levels your base.  I find it a fairly sound tactic for both times I've ever gotten one in a multiplayer game.  It isn't about how effective it is, it is about the 'Holy shit!' factor.

Teroniss

Hmm, Ink's a Tyranid fan eh? Doesnt surprise me all too much. Still, the evil that are Tyranids do not compare to the evil that are my Knights of St. Nicholas.

I should really update the picture on Santa Chaplain, since i changed the model up a bit.

And we're supposed to pick up on that point when you don't mention it at all? :rolleyes

Ogryn and Kasrkin ftw.

Teroniss

hehe, remind me to post pictures of Rudolph the Red Nosed Chaplain, Santa Librarian and the Santa Slay Speeder

Considering the Emperor is Santa, it isn't all that surprising :D

ShadesFox

Now I have to try and dig up this old story where an Inquisitor writes up a report about Santa being an agent of chaos, and that all the presents need to be rounded up and burned.

I almost feel like I'm cheating when I play as the Tau. Basic, cheap, upgradable units from the start with heavy weapons capabilities, infiltration, and jetpacks with a little investment? Wow.

I'm finding the Kroot to be nearly useless, save for the Krootox. I'm growing rather fond of sending in King Kongs to deal with...well, almost anything.

Try Skyrays. <3 those Skyrays.

Stygian

I still maintain my point that Orbital Relays are the shit. It's either that, or hopping Necrons around like little bunnies on crack with too many outposts.

Kasarn

Unrelatedly, here's a badge I made using the Hell Mow
http://au.geocities.com/ilesead/stuff/hellmow.zip

I've always used it and I figure somebody else might like it.

Make your own banner :C

Well, I also have DoW banners made from furry porn :3
but I haven't used them since the original DoW

TheGreyRonin

I played for a while as the Imperial Guard with badges and banners of bikini models under the name Babeseeking Missiles...

So far I've beaten Dark Crusade with the Space Marines and Tau. Halfway through it again with the Imperial Guard. Even knowing what's coming in certain areas doesn't keep it from being interesting, especially when you're switching tactics entirely due to race.

Oh, and I can't wait for 2007. More Crusades?

TheGreyRonin

The red nose! The red nose! *laughs hysterically*

Seriously, those are too damn funny. You do some great work, Teroniss!

And so far the Dark Crusade has been waged as the Necrons, the Tau, Imperial Guard, Space Marines, and now the Orks. I'm finding the Orks to be as much of a pain in the tail to run as in previous games.

Eldar are still the worst.
At least with the Orks you can unit spam Slugga Boyz.

Stygian

With Space Marines you can spam Dreads, with Tau you can spam Fire warriors and Drones from carriers, and with Necrons you can spam just about anything. The Imperial Guard seems rather tame in comparison, and Chaos is left without a good exploit. Except the Daemon Prince, in some situations, of course.
