OK, that could get interesting.  Especially if Quoar's main motivation is for talking to Abel, and Abel isn't there...

So wait, no ones seen Quoar himself in like, Thousands of years, and her first instinct is to flirt with him?!
Admittedly I probably would flirt with him too, cus he's hot, but not before grilling him on where he's been.

Come to think of it, the only reason most know Quar is still alive is because he sent an envoy to the university every thousand years, presumably to the clan meeting. I wonder why neither he, nor an envoy showed up this time.

I'd guess that he's the only higher-value target for Hizell than Cyra...

That's not kept him from sending emissaries before, or him personally walking into someplace it turns out Hizell is directly targeting.

SAIA is a location so safe that Hizell is physically unable to enter it.  However, his appearance at the inn is admittedly baffling.

OK, I just went back and reviewed a few things, and now I'm all kinds of confused.

First, He must be DANG sneaky if that was actually him at Lost Lake as implied, as he was there WHILE Hizell was scrying the place:

http://www.missmab.com/Comics/Vol_1450.php
http://www.missmab.com/Comics/Vol_1451.php

I mean, he was in disguise as a being bunny, but if that level of disguise could fool Hizell what's he bothering scrying for anyway?

Second I had always presumed that he was the one that delivered Abel's invite. That really seems to be the implication here:

http://www.missmab.com/Comics/Vol_1472.php

But if He got Piflak's invitation for Abel (I am assuming the invite WAS for Abel, as the warp-aci knew who they were addressed to), then how did Quoar get the invite from Piflak? Her reaction here would seem to indicate she's not seen him in forever, so how did he get the invite?

Actually, come to that, how would HE have gotten his invite, if noone knows where he or any of his clan members are hiding? How did that warp-aci (forgot it's name) ever get to him in the first place, whether destined for him or for Abel?

I mean, it almost makes the most sense that he somehow infiltrated Piflak's realm, stole one of her Warp-Aci, impersonated her to it in order to write Abel an invitation, and then went to Lost Lake to invite Abel to the party to arrange Abel and he to 'coincidentally' meet at the party. I think that's the MOST likely scenario I've been able to come up with.

Or maybe he's simply achieved CHIM and is just playing games with us all.

I wonder if anyone will actually get that reference.

I spy an elder scrolls lore fan!  As far as I could understand the lore, part of CHIM was achieving omnipotence through leaving mortality behind.  So you could become all powerful, but would lack interest in mortal affairs.  I dunno.  Elder scrolls lore gives me a headache about five to ten minutes in.
As for Quoar being at a party...  I'd put money on there being SOME communication method.  Maybe some well worn mailbox that he checks by scrying every so often to see if there's any relevant mail.

Was there anything mentioned to the effect of whether or not the location of Piflak's parties is well known?  We saw a gate crasher thrown out, so I imagine it's possible.  Maybe Quoar is in the category of "not sent an invitation, but Piflak'll invite him anytime".

Given Piflak's response, I'm guessing he has a standing invitation... ;-]

I'll admit, I'm curious now.  What is the accepted means of communication between creatures that have been alive thousands of years, when one keeps a low profile?

You know... I had a particularly devious notion about this...

We seem to be under the impression that it was the *actual* Quoar, not just a rabbit who dressed like him because that is the fashion for Bards (what with the tophat being the equivalent of a valentine's day heart or cupid). And it would stand to reason that Quoar would be invited by Piflak. In fact, I'm betting that even though they haven't seen each other in quite a while, they're able to send Warp Aci back and forth, since they use a sort of non-dimensional (or at least alternative-dimensional) way of getting around.

So, what about this: Quoar gets the invitation. He's not really interested in socializing, but he also doesn't want to insult his dear long-time friend, and since Piflak probably already knows Quoar doesn't really want to appear in public, he's also going to gently twist her tail about. He instead transfers his invite to Abel (probably bribing the warp aci with a couple of candy bars and a box or something). Abel flew onto his radar because of what happened to his clan. He's probably been keeping up with all of the remnants of the clan, because yanno... his big thing was love and those clan leaders were the only ones to display such emotion. Sees Abel caught between a rock and a hard place (between Des and Hizel), and wants to help the poor kid get to a safer place, albeit temporarily. Plus, he probably also knows by now that Abel is a close friend to Dan, who is part of some scheming that involve the survival of the Cubi species as a whole. And Piflak would probably understand what happened, and why, and be amused by the novelty of having this young lad being dropped into her social shark tank and accept it for the polite refusal accompanied by the gift of something novel or unusual, which has to be of some value to such long-lived individuals. Remember the bit about the expense account? She doesn't mind blowing a significant sum of money for the amusement value, this is probably along the same lines of thought.

Which means this is actually Abel's invite being redeemed. And the only way I could see that happening (barring Abel's rapid recovery, which doesn't seem relevant) is JyJy being dragged along as the 'plus one' for Abel, only without Abel. Which Piflak might actually find even more amusing. Miss Priss Warp Aci probably understands that Abel is unable to attend due to medical reasons, but SOMEONE has to go, and so she whisks JyJy away, with or without his permission, because an invite MUST be redeemed.

It is almost certainly not going to pan out that way, but hey... it's an interesting theory.

All I know is that Piflak is a entity whose motivations I can get behind. I like them!  :mowmeep

The problem with this theory is that it requires Quoar's invite to arrive without Quoar attached. Piflak's warp aci seem a bit more on the ball than most, and "someone else used Quoar's invite" would be as important.
