I received my copy of The Wine Country newsletter, in which is an announcement of the (dah da da daaaah) First O-Canada Wine Tasting to be held in glorious Signal Hill, California, on Saturday, October 13, 2007, 1pm to 4pm.

Said notice and accompanying story can be found on page 27 of this 29 page pdf file.  :)

Knowledge must be gained, so future Canadian Citizen Mrs. Williams can say, "Watch it, Universe; I have a glass of wine, and I know how to use it."  :)

With regards,
Ted

I been there and back.  :)

Of the regular wines, the one I chose to buy was 2005 Konzelmann Gerwurztraminer.  I can't give you an official wine taster's review, as I don't know the words, but this was the best.  And at $14.99, I can afford it.  ::grins::

As for the ice wines, I am in love.

La Face de la Pomme "Neige" Apple Ice Cider  "Oh yeah!"  $28.99 375ml
2004 Chateau des Charmes Vidal Icewine  "Oh, that's good."  $41.99 375ml
2006 Konzelmann Vidal Icewine  "When the pourer said this was more intense, he wasn't kidding."  $43.99 375ml

That last one I will have to buy for Mrs. Williams for Christmas just to, you know, get her used to being Canadian.   :mowhappy

Good times.  :D

With regards,
Ted

*sob, sniffle* Waaaaaaaaaaaaa...!

Remember to watch out. Similarly to their money, until recently, Canadian wine was only 90% as effective as US wine. Now that it's achieved parity, the risk of alcohol poisoning is much higher.

*Canadian*  This here is our red wine.

*consumer*  Wait a minute... this is just Molson with red food coloring!

*Canadian*  Well hey now... look over there!  *flees!*

On a slightly related note, be careful of Chinese wines masquerading as Canadian.
(They actually put, 'Made in Canada' on their bottles.)
How you imitate Ice Wine I do not even know.

*nods*  And Al Gore likes Canada, thus his film supporting global warming!  It's all a conspiracy to stealthily support the Canadian ice fermentation factories!  BIG ICE IS COMING FOR YOU!!!   :kruger
