It was quite interesting.  The whole thing was a series of  "so that's what it meant..." revelations.
It sounds really strange now, but originally I was just trying to see what it was about.  It wasn't until about 100 strips that I actually started to get into it.  What I should have done then was start from the beginning.

I was also looking for this, which I failed to find for a long, long time - once I'd decided DMFA was good, I wrote a little program to wget the strips sequentially, and thereby missed out on the guest strips.  I spent the next few days reading it forwards.
