Of the millions and millions of species that have existed on this planet, more than 99 percent of them are extinct. While advancements in technology and research have allowed scientists to learn more and more about the mysteries of Dinosaurs and extinction,there are still many things we don't know. The biggest mystery of all, however, is "how did they die?".

This is a question that as of now has no definitive answer, but scientists have made some interesting educated guess'. Before we delve into the most recent theories of how Dinosaurs were wiped out, it is essential to know at least a brief history of the facts of Dinosaur extinction.


While scientists don't know how Dinosaurs died, they do have an estimate of when they died. Many Dinosaur fossils have been dated back to the Mesozoic era, but no fossils have been found from the Cenozoic era. Because of this, scientists can confidently say that Dinosaurs became extinct between 64-66 million years ago.


Dinosaur bones have been discovered since the 19th century, but satisfactory answers as to why Dinosaurs died did not appear until the 1980's. In 1980, a group of scientists at the University of California at Berkeley (Luis and Walter Alvarez, Frank Asaro and Helen Michael) proposed a stunning and convincing argument for the "K-T Extinction". The title is derived from the fact that dinosaurs died between the Cretaceous period and the Tertiary period. Since the "KT Extinction" was proposed, the search for the "perpetrator" of the extinction has been thriving with scientific research.


The "perpetrator" has still not been found, but there are some things that scientists are sure of that makes the search easier. For one, scientists know that the "Great Dying" (as some scientists call it) was a Mass Extinction. Mass Extinction is "an episode in evolutionary history where more than 50% of all known species living at that time went extinct in a short period of time (less than 2 million years)." "The Great Dying" is not the only known example of Mass Extinction, nor is it the largest. The largest mass extinction would be the "Permo-Triassic" extinction, between the Permian and Triassic periods of the Paleozoic and Mesozoic eras.


During this extinction, the Earth was nearly destroyed all-together, 90% of the living organisms on life died. All in all, throughout the history of the Earth, more than 20 global mass extinction's have occurred. Some scientists and researchers believe that these mass extinction's occur at set times, and are not really random, but occur at regular intervals.


About 60% of all species were obliterated during the K-T Extinction. While Dinosaurs got completely wiped out, they did not endure the most casualties. Organisms that lived in the ocean were the ones most effected by the extinction. Members of the Foraminifera, Echinodermata, Mollusca and Diapsida were all wiped out.


Scientists don't know what exactly caused the extinction of Dinosaurs, but they have some ideas. The cause is "always some sort of climate change or catastrophic event that produces conditions too severe for most organisms to endure." Episodes of global warming and cooling have been linked to different mass extinction's. Another theory is that an enormous change in the levels of oceans. A third theory is that a massive comet struck the earth around 65 million years ago, greatly disrupting the ecosystem. The Dust cloud from the collision covered the Earth for months, blocking the sunlight that organisms need to survive.


The plants died off first, and then the Dinosaurs died when they had nothing to eat. After these extinction's, new species evolve to fit the newly altered environment. Extinction doesn't happen because of evolution, it actually causes evolution.


If Dinosaurs hadn't become extinct, mammals may have never gotten the opportunity to thrive as much as they have. Dinosaurs had their time to rule the earth, and than, in under 2 million years, it was taken away from them. Some scientists believe that the same type of mass extinction will happen somewhere in the near future. This is a theory of why Dinosaurs died, they just stopped evolving. It is natural for different organisms to dominate an ecosphere, and the Dinosaurs time had come

4 - mmm...this is hard....we have captain marvel (sort of a member) hawkgirl, supergirl...also like vigilante and golden gladiator....mmm...among them all i think it could be supergirl...

As Gabi pointed out, the main problem with it, once you manage to add sufficient declarations so it compiles, is that it doesn't store the answers anywhere, or even print them out. All it does is go "ok" and exit... unless it crashes.

Leafar, Xze-Xze might be sending it to the wrong address, or, possibly, MSN and gmail may be having one of their spats, and randomly losing emails, in much the same fashion that yahoo and aol do sometimes.

Actually, Xze-Xze, if you have a gmail address, you might want to try using that, and seeing if it works out better...
