Ooooh. That last one is -really- nice.
Welcome back, Xze!
good to be back. i haven't really been drawing much so i haven't really been around. But i color so maybe a few of my black-and-whites will get some color soon =3
oh, and on the last pic, Rhea Hyuga is my GaiaOnline screenname, just to let ya guys know
so, back into action, anything come to mind that you will work on next?
*Puts critique glasses on.*
Gaara and a friends character, all copyright info is on there (http://i204.photobucket.com/albums/bb230/Rheagaiapets/gaavallyrics.jpg)
Might want to work on eyes. They kind of throw me off. Gaara's arm looks a bit long, and the color on his hair has a white outline to it.
Other than that, the characters have a good feeling of interaction. By which I mean they look like they're actually next to each other, as opposed to just drawn next to each other. This is kind of hard to describe, but it's a subtle thing that some artists just never grasp.
Can't wait to see more.
@Brun- No clue, actually, i'm sorta in a drawing rut XD
@Fox- *listens carefully* Eyes aren't really my strong point, so i'll work on that, as are any body parts, including arms and fingers. Yar, the white line was unintentional (Due to using magic wand) but i didn't really wanna fix it. thanks so much for that, though =3
Lilypad (http://i204.photobucket.com/albums/bb230/Rheagaiapets/gamepiece-1.jpg)
Yeah, just a lily pad. I love the way i did the flower, so even though this is nothing big, i'm quite proud of it. used a pic of a lily pad for reference

EDIT: Crud, you responded while I was writing it.
believe it or not, some of my best drawings are done on notebook paper.
Double posting. Shame on me. Decided to get started on these early since i have 12 of them to do. first one was done last year, second one i had help from my friend Ruby since i suck at drawing Sakura
First Day: Kyuubi in a Pine tree (http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k182/xzexze/drawings/zodiac041.jpg)

Hey, it's better than I can do.
Well the skull looks farking awesome.
i'm just not happy with the 'flames'
i may use a brush to see if it'll look good.
That is a really good skull. The flames aren't bad, the problem is that they're just outlines. They'd look better filled in.
Jairus: *Smeck* I have to go update my sig now.

What's that for?
*looks at Fox's sig*
Oh. Well, look at it this way: at no point in my life have I had real chance to sit back and actually figure out how to draw. Most of my drawings are just loose doodles when I can fit them in and they're in pen (incidentally, since my favorite color is blue, most of my drawings are in blue ink: not very good looking), and they're not very good, to be honest... though I did just submit one of my drawings for the Invisible Friends game over in The Arena. After this round's over, I'll point it out to you.
But, since this is about Xze-Xze's stuff and not mine, the skull looks nice, but you're right about the flames needing work.
EDIT: okay, without the extra flames it looks a little better. Cool.
Bleh >P at least you can use pen to draw. i need a pencil or it looks like crap. *looks for an example* gimmie a sec here...

I'm saying that I use a pen to draw because that's all that I have usually. It still looks like crap. The best stuff I draw is in pencil... and I keep breaking my mechanical pencils. And I buy blue pens because blue's my favorite color: if I drew more often, I'd buy a black pen as well.
I have problems.
Many problems. So many that you need happy pills. even though there is no point to that.

Should i try making it digi? or just keep it penciled?
I honestly don't know anything about digital art. It's something I should work on at some point. In the meantime, it still looks good in pencil. If you want to work on it in a program, go right ahead.
Okay, since i'm starting this comic up again i'm gonna go ahead and post the pages since a few new people haven't seen it XD

Well, the dialogue's hand drawn on the first three, while the next three have typewritten words. Pencil in my experience doesn't scan well, so I can understand the difficulties of getting it into the computer properly. Unfortunately, I don't know any tricks to help, since darkening the contrast would probably pick up a bunch of other things.
Hm, it's actually nice to comment on other people's stuff and here how they do things.
Actually, 5 and 6 were also handwritten.
The first...4 were made with the idea of just having a few long comic strips, so i used the whole page with a lot of little squares. The next two i sort of wised up and put just a little bit on them so that i could make my handwriting bigger and neater.
even though my handwriting still looks like a kid's =P

Well, the first three are a lot less clear than the last three. That's kind of what I was trying to say. And space can usually be a problem (my lack of understanding for the need for proper arrangement of space is what plagues some of my older stuff)

My handwriting's not much better. I spend too much time typing on a computer. I mean, I can have some pretty clear – and actually fairly neat – handwriting when I focus on it, but I so rarely focus on it that sometimes my handwriting is barely legible. At least by me.

As promised, this was the one I did (http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e143/J-RasZ/Poorly-donecrossoverfanart.jpg?t=1218032405). Not much, really.
Normally, I take critiquing very seriously. I don't mean I'm a hardass, just that I'm serious about it.
Rather than take a few pages to make in depth comments about everything here, I'll just say this. If you are picking up *anything* and drawing *something* on *whatever*, you are doing something right. Professional artists are doing exactly what you're doing, they've just done it for six hours a day for several years. But it's still the exact same thing.
This is the reason for my sig. Anyone can draw. They just don't, and then say they can't.
Nice lighting and shading on the apple, by the way.

just so you know, about 9/10ths of my sketch book pages look like this. I'm always experimenting on how to draw stuff; heads, feet, hands, hair, etc. I'm pretty sure this is natural.
As for lower saturation... that means more gray or white. Pale colors have low saturation. Most color pickers will have an option for saturation, (Hue/Saturation/Value.) If you have sliders for Red/Blue/Green mix, then turning all of them up a bit will desaturate the color until you get white.
(Dear god, I almost started on a rant about color theory. We'd be here all day.)

buddies on away was a webcomic done by the guy who currently does 'inhuman', noted for its unique drawing style
saturation- to be drenched by or flooded with
The comics and some of your work reminds me of my art a few years back, though you seem to be doing a lot better than i was back then(i still stink with color, while you got that down nicely). You seem to have ideas so keep at it!
In color, saturation has to do with how rich the color in question is. High saturation colors are very rich and bold. Low saturation colors are faded, flat, and usually duller.
There's two uses, primarily, for saturation. High satuartion colors will attract the eye, and low saturation colors don't. This is useful for creating focus. IE: if you want most of the viewers attention on a character, give him higher saturation colors and the background low saturation colors. Also, if you have text on a really busy background, make the background low saturation and the text darker.
Second use: objects with low saturation look further away. This, along with making objects smaller, is one of the primary methods of depth cueing. (Depth cueing being the fancy term for "Making stuff look farther away or closer.)
*Smacks self* Must... stop... talking so bloody much. Gah.
Anyway, bummer about the lack of art supplies. I'd go stir crazy if I didn't have a pencil grafted to my hand.
@Ly- *tackles and ducttapes self to you* STAY!! But srsly, That dragon sucks. Looks more like a...horse :B
@Brun- Ahhhhh. That's pretty cool!

Do they go Wark? (http://i204.photobucket.com/albums/bb230/Rheagaiapets/wus.jpg)
Being a night critter, they tend to snuffle at best. Mostly, they're very very quiet.
Like good forum-goers. ;-]
Ahhh...so the next Kiwi should snuffle? Coolness-es-ness.
What was named first, the bird or the fruit?
The bird is "The Kiwi"
The fruit is, correctly, "kiwi fruit", named after the bird, because it looks a lot like the bird. However, slack selling methods mean that what could have been an excellent source of profit for the folks in NZ went out the window when they sold cuttings...
And everyone else in the world knows them as kiwis... Go fig.
The fruit was originally called "Chinese gooseberry (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kiwifruit)", until some bright person got the idea of growing them in NZ, and then renaming them.
A note on something random: Again, using some light and dark on the lines would help make it more readable. ("Readable" is a five dollar art word for "how easy it is to look at the picture and tell what it is") You took the time to put some in the hair, but they're not very well organized. Shading for hair typically belongs where bunches of strands overlap each other, to imply that one layer is on top another. Also, defining the face would really help.
Also, the proportions on the random face are good, but *pretty pretty please* :< take a little time to look at ways to draw eyes. The style you're using is a very common, very rudimentary one. (This might be me being a curmudgeonly, snobby, grumpy old fart, but there are hundreds of easy ways to cartoon eyes. I get tired of seeing the exact same style a dozen times over)
The Ozz/Momi pic is pretty good, even if you used another pic for reference. (I study/practice anatomy by copying real life pictures of people.) The lines are a bit choppy, though. Did you do this with on Oekaki?
Also: I love that The Kiwi.
...Kiwis are just awesome XD
The random pic was just a lot of lines that turned into hair that i thought could use a face =3 As for eyes...well, i just went with what i knew how to draw ^.^; I'm experimenting with eyes a lot though =3
Uhhhmmm...Since i don't know what Oekaki -is- i'm gonna have to say noooo. I used my Photoshop Elements to draw it. I'm just now getting the hang of it after a year ^^;;;
An Oekaki is a forum that includes a web based drawing application. You can draw and post, all in one go, and the application takes care of uploading the image, so you don't have to fuss with image hosting. The drawing application is like a lite version of photoshop.

Lovely smile indeed. her forehead doesn't curve right, tho. Do I really want to know what she's chewing on?
I know I've made this comment before, but... in the second pic, at that angle, Hellfire's right eye (her right) should be on the edge of her head. Other then that, her horns don't really look like they connect with the head. The back of her head looks a little blobbey too.
The throat looks good, and I like the mouth. Mmm, fangs.
It's a PomPom :B
Ack, really? I tried to get it to slope a little more but i guess i failed XD old drawing habits die hard.
Gah, Friggin eye XD I keep forgetting that and everytime i try i mess it up and it looks icky. I have NO idea what i was doing with those horns. I was just sketchingthe 2nd one actually to practice her mouth in a different pose than my usual snarl or closed-mouth poses, y'know?

Give me your body
Give me your lips
Give me your hopes
Give me your thoughts.
Give me nothing
Give me everything.
But baby,
Just give me a reason,
Just give me something.
Crap, i'm late DX uhm...just pointers maybe? wrote this after 48 hours of not sleeping so it may not make sense g2g!

Make it a chihuahua and we're good.
I had Fa'Lina in mind. Which is one heck of a mouthful...
NEVAR!!
Alright here's nother one for y'all
QuoteLeave me alone
Let me be
Let me go free.
Let go of my hand
Let go of my heart.
Stay away, stay away
From me.
I want nothing
I ask for nothing
I receive nothing.
Let me cry
Let me scream
Let me dream
Let me rise
Let me fall.
Let me go
Let me stay.
I don't need you
I don't want you
I don't like this
I don't want this
I hate this
I hate you.
I'm nothing
I've become nothing
I don't need saving
I don't want saving
I want to die
I want to live
Save me
Don't leave me.
Someone sounds like they've been through alot... :B
Well they're not meant to be emo or anything like that...i was just typing and that's what came out.
Not bad. Lord knows, I wouldn't call it emo. Not yet, at least. Besides, as long as it's good poetry I don't care *how* emo it gets.
For the most part, you're using very short and curt diction. But in places you've got longer words that break the flow, like "I ask for nothing/I receive nothing".
Also:
"Let me cry
Let me scream
Let me dream <-Try switching this line
Let me rise" <-And this line
To see what the rhyme scheme does. There's a few of spots like that.
You could change a bit to improve the repetition:
I don't need you
I don't want you
I don't like this
I don't want this
I hate this
I hate you.
To:
I don't need this
I don't want you
I don't like this
I don't like you
I hate this
I hate you.
Hmmm...it sounded better in my head but maybe that's just me |3~ I'll definetly change that last part though, sounds a heckuva lot better
I cannot draw horses (http://i204.photobucket.com/albums/bb230/Rheagaiapets/loneb-day.jpg)
Birthday gift i did on GaiaOnline for a very close friend <3 That's her OC Faer. I think she's supposed to be a goddess of Cherry blossom trees so that's why there's (Crappily drawn) Petals.
Ooooh, that's not too bad :3

Lies. That's a great horse. The eye could be better, but it's horsish qualities are irrefutable.
Outfit Concept for a new Character (http://i204.photobucket.com/albums/bb230/Rheagaiapets/Viktoroutfit.jpg)
I made it to fit on a Horse's body for a design concept in a shop on Gaia then never intended to use it, But i got attacked to it and made a new OC that i am now very much in love with in terms of character. His name is Viktor Samhain.
What you can't see on that small ref is long-ish silver with blue/purple highlights and scraggly with a braid in it. I can't decide on eye color but i'm debating on a tone of blue...Not sure.
His personality is still Iffy so i'mma keep that under wraps until i get it straightened out, but most definitely he's a bit of a bookworm ;P
Blargh, double-post
Alright so this year i have entered into not only Zina's secret santa, but another as well and i'm already panicking.
About what? About the quality of art i will be able to give to the person i am to give a gift to. Without a scanner i'm having to do photoshop art and while i've improved this past year, i'm still not confident enough. Fox has given me some AWESOME tips (THANK YOU!) and i've been jumping from tutorial to tutorial, but i keep doing the same amateur-ish mistakes. And i want to stop that.
And to begin, something a bit new;
Chick? Dude? You tell me XD (http://i204.photobucket.com/albums/bb230/Rheagaiapets/wipcdcopy.jpg)
Decided to draw a person with the goal of trying some new things; Hair highlights, different arm position, different eye style, and experiment with shading some more.
Pondering on trying to mix in drawing ears and...-shudder-...hands in my next little doodle.
For drawing hands I take pictures on a digital camera of my hands in whatever position for the subject in the picture and I've had good reviews from doind so. If the person if holding an object that you don't personally have you can compensate with something similar. If you're drawing something with four fingers instead of five or whatever making the fingers wider usually does fine. :januscat
That is it. I am so making a hand tutorial.
If you post any drawings you have attempted, I'd be happy to comment on them.
That's a good idea, Ly =D I'll definetly attempt that.
=OO And i would worship the ground you walk on, Fox.
And now for something completely different. (http://i204.photobucket.com/albums/bb230/Rheagaiapets/Kyowip.jpg)
Can i be proud? It's still a WIP seeing as the collar needs coloring, lines erased and thinned, etcetera, but Oh lord am i proud of this :boogie
The whole head is really good. I like the chin, mouth, eyes, and hair especially.
I think the crook of the thumb needs to be farther back, though.
Crook of the thumb...crook of the thumb...Where would that be?
The base of the thumb.
If you look at your thumb, on the outside, you can see two bends in it (when you've got it bent, obviously). The first one, where the web of the thumb attaches to the hand, is, I think, what he means.
Of course, there's also the pad on the other side. Hold your right hand in the position in the image, and look at where the outside edge of the hand is put together - the heel of the hand, and where it merges up into the pinky finger. Compare that to how the thumb creates shadows over it, and how the bulges all fit together.
Bear in mind that the hands are about the most complex part of the body, barring the brain, so people tend to pay attention to them. At least, so I find...
*Blink blink*
Waittaminnit. I have that wrong. That's not the thumb, that's the index finger.
Okay, so, *that's* the thumb there... I thought it looked weird for the heel of the hand.
Wait, that means the... Buh... Uh...
*Facepalm* Mmkay. I had that backwards and inside out. Overall the thumb doesn't have enough mass and length. The heel especially, and the crook of the thumb (By which I mean the inside curve, where the webbing goes between your thumb and palm). I am going to have to make that hand tutorial some time.
*Twists and turns her hand to see the position*...OH!!! I see!! Alright i'll try to fix that...After i thin the lines to see if that helps or not of course. Thanks Boxy ;P
Alright so.. add the crook and...make the pads more pronounced right?
nice art although i got confused on which side the thumb was.
*huggles* i kinda confused myself a little bit ^^;;
Now i have a question. Would it be alright for me to post up a fanfiction im working on, or would that not be considered 'art'?
You may or may not have noticed, but several other people have been doing just that...
...*searches through*
ASSUMING the mods are alright with it happening, would i continue to just post in here or make a new thread?
Oh, and Thanksgiving arts. Ish.
DANGER..Neejuh in box =P (http://i204.photobucket.com/albums/bb230/Rheagaiapets/DANGER.png)
It's gotten hard for me to draw Xze lately ><
If I was you, I'd post it in here. Over to you, though; as long as you don't have half a dozen threads on the go at once, you're probably ok.
Alrighty i'll just post 'em in here. Thanks Boxy :hug
0-0 eep, i better work on the first post/directory.
Edit: i lied to you Boxy. I have sinned.
whoo! i live!
Just a WIP (http://i204.photobucket.com/albums/bb230/Rheagaiapets/teddywip.jpg)
Looks like one of those poses where there's a super-strong hero trying to prevent something from falling, or maybe he's gearing up to throw something really heavy, or maybe he's charging up his Ultimate Blast attack :B
Mmmmmm...i'm actually going for a leaning-away-from-the-wall-but-is-chained-there pose =)
Oh yeah, I see.
...
What the hell do you have in mind that made you need to draw that? :erk
Hmmm...I'll have to say...
