Isn't Oolong the pig from dragon ball? hmm...
You do realize its Abel's story #22. In your haste you forgot how to count. :P
*EDIT* It has changed!!! Oh NOES!!
Anyway, uhm that's certainly a sight and thought to come back to reality with.
*Talking slyly while thinking of panel 3*
Quite the sight indeed.
Will there be a short where Fa'Lina confronts Oolong while she has a pancake on her head? :V
Heh.
I'm with Fa'Lina here. What the heck kind of books is Oolong stocking, now? Is she going through a romance phase or something?
*snicker*
Wait. Library? Abel?
:eager
Y'know that probably is gonna have an effect on Abel.. Oh wait..
I guess it makes sense now.. :)

I could go on and on but we get right out of PG territory.
I try not to be a perv but when it's made easy.... Ehh can't help it.
It seems that the approach from that Naked gun film to wake up a bored audience also works on Cubi in shock.

Yep. Amber gave a brief run-down when that picture was released.
For the curious it can be found here:

QuoteI'm pretty sure we've been told that we wouldn't. It's far more impressive when we're forced to imagine it.
That is correct. IIRC Amber offered a refund for anyone who voted for Abel's Story under the impression they would learn about the library incident. And as you say, it's so much more fun if it's never revealed.
Well, even if we won't know what happened, we've at least a potential reason why why whatever happened....
Out of a bazillion other possibilities, of cause.
Didn't Abel work in a bookshop or Library before all this happened ???
I wonder if Abel is looking like that in the last frame because of what he's being read, or because he's just recognised Fa'Lina (whom he last saw here (http://missmab.com/Comics/Ab_004.php).
I guess a lot will depend now on what she says when she notices he's snapped out of it.
(Being empathic she has probably already noticed, but Abel won't know that until she acknowledges it or pretends she's just realised.)

I find it kind of disturbing to see a creature like the SAIA librarian taking such an interest in porn novels. "She had already moved down her hands to.." WHERE? :erk
I guess it's just that she's interested in what the students are interested. Yes. That must be it! For the sake of my mental sanity I'm assuming this is it!
I do wonder where Amber got the 'source material' for that story extract. But once you've read one of them I guess you've read them all, can't be too hard to make one up.
The other thing I wonder about is if it ever bugs amber that so much background text gets obscured, this has the positive effect of being a useful device for conveying an idea that is better with less detail, but has the negative effect that some readers will spend an age using image enhancing software to figure out what the words are and then start a conspiracy theory about. I for one think she has a done a good job of it.
I wonder if Abel hadn't been paying attention to whatever Fa'Lina was saying before his eyes got shiny. As it looks from how far she is in the book, that would be a long time.

It's probably a romance novel. ...Pornographic romance novel, true, but still, if they're going to write an entire novel they need to have SOMETHING in it besides the sex scenes. But still, even for a full-sized novel, it's true it would be odd for it to wait what looks like more than 100 pages before getting explicit enough for Fa'Lina to realize what she was reading.
Or maybe she knew all along and is doing this on purpose to affect Abel's impression of her.

I'd say definitely. Remember, this is Fa'lina we're talking about: she of the reference posters that messed with Dan's mind (http://www.missmab.com/Comics/Vol_489.php). Add in the typical 'Cubi seen-it-all attitude (http://www.missmab.com/Demo/Cubi02.php), and... can we safely assume Fa'lina knows how little Abel knows about 'Cubi? As far as I can tell, practically everything she does is an act put on to some purpose, as in the last few scenes of the "Unwilling and Abel" arc.

Maybe, although some Cubi may not like that single-minded view (http://missmab.com/Comics/Vol_524.php) of their natures. Though it does seem to be based on the truth. (http://missmab.com/Comics/Vol_540.php)

Not to mention to put a y at the end of that . . .
Actually, I was thinking of the song Chantilly Lace, an old rock and roll classic. There was a line in there that went "You know what I like". Well, with cubi, that would be true. Of course, sometimes you might not want to know what the other person likes.

It's also a type of tea (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oolong_tea). Very good tea, too. mmmm...
*nods* It's my favorite tea next to Earl Grey. There's a Chinese buffet near me that makes incredibly good oolong. I don't know how they steep it or what brand of tea leaves they use, but it's incredibly good. It has a sweetish, faintly vanilla-like flavor. I never put anything in it for fear of ruining the delicate essence.
Too bad she didn't use that DMFA fanfic that currently resides in the treasury for this comic...
Contents of the book aside (although on top of all this, I like her reaction, too)...
There's the act in itself of her reading to Abel until he comes out of catatonia.

Since it looks like she becomes Abel's mentor for most of the time he's at SAIA, what's going to be really interesting is when and how she explains to him that the Academy teaches its students how to torture people, murder them and eat their souls. (Of course we know it teaches more innocuous things too, but those are the ones which are going to freak him out big-time).

The only reason Ink's tea was flavoured by Dan is because he didn't know how to shield himself.

I don't think it works that way. There's no evidence that mind shields block one's own emotional radiation. Indeed, Fa'Lina's ability to shield her emotions is considered unusual among Cubi... even discomforting.

"filter" might be a better word than "block". I'm guessing, mind, but my understanding was something along the lines of _limiting_ the amount you spread around the local area, rather than flooding everyone in sight.
I could well be wrong, of course. We'll have to wait for Amber to get back to find out... ;-]

I think I have an idea. This is an assumption I think is those romance novels that has Fabio on the cover. I remember reading those and others from the Harlequin novel that my ex lend them to me. I think Amber got that line from those i think or I could be wrong. :mowcookie

<nod> I'm remembering what Abel said to Jyrras (http://www.missmab.com/Comics/Vol_864.php) when their discussion got around to Dan and what he might be doing with his 'Cubi abilities, accidentally or not.
I've always wondered what kind of alt-text/title Amber would put under these if she wasn't lazy enough to simply number them.
For this one, my guess goes for "God forbid."
