What's going on in FurAffinity?

So, apparently there's a mass exodus or something going on over on FA. Some details have been posted here:
http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/5429497/

So, apparently their new code engineer is an alleged rapist or something and they're deleting the "don't want rapist on team" comments, so most people are viewing it as censorship or something?
Da hell is going on? (Either way, I'm too much of a lazy ass to move to another art site and I already have a DeviantArt account.) And bear in mind, this is just curiosity on my part.

IIRC FA was itself the results of a mass exodus from DA.  Now, most of the people are going to Weasyl.  I am not at this point looking to move out of FA, but having a Weasyl presence as well seems prudent.

I think it's partially that, partially the drama surrounding Zaush (the artist/coder in question) and more or less the final straw.

I'll try to explain as best I can.

As tape said, FA was the result of mass exodus from DA itself, specifically at the time (Dunno about now) FA had a weird double standard on furry art, banning lot of adult furry art while letting non-furry porn run rampant. FA started strong and even promised major overhaul to the site, Ferrox, which never came to light. Project Phoenix is only the latest in long, long line FA overhauls.

Fats forward to a little before the announcement, and it come sto light in about 2013, Dragoneer, the head admin, hires a team of coders to revamp the site, then forgets about them (Yes really, I'm not using hyperbole here, he forgot about the volunteer team) and then brought in Zaush as the new head coder and merges him with the volunteer team putting Zaush in charge. The team collapses and calls it quits when it becomes clear Zaush is difficult to work with.

Now even if we ignore the rape accusations(Even if various thing from 'neer, Zaush, victims/women Zaush has creeped out and statistic don't paint very nice picture) we can't ignore Zaush is not a very pleasant person, as an understatement,  and doesn't appear to know much if anything about coding. This has been a fair point of contention, as the admins tend to recruit from friends.

This the abridged version and I could elaborate on more this later but I am slightly biased towards the issue myself and have been disgusted and disappointed by FA in the past, and I hope to avoid a flame war. I do hope this clears things up though, Tape.

Oh, I know most of that.  I'm just being cagey about how much we discuss problems with someone else's site.

... Given we're effectively hosting this information, we're kinda a bit liable to legal action. There are disclaimers, it's not us saying it, so as I understand it we'd be fairly safe from libel or slander litigation (one is verbal, one is written, I'm not a lawyer and don't know which is which, nor which applies in this situation; it probably varies by jurisdiction), we'd still have to pay out to defend ourselves against it, and that's likely to take the entire site down, as none of us really have the funds to do so; lawyers are expensive.

So, yeah. It's probably safer to avoid it.

Yeah, you know... we have rules about not discussing business from other sites here (and vice versa). Whether the information is true or not, we have rules against this.

I'm shutting this down.
