With all those potential disasters waiting to happen, it almost seems unlikely that Katrina would have gotten pregnant.

Of course Darkmoon isn't quite the vampire he use to be and Katrina certainly isn't you usual human, not to mention all those adventures that have probably exposed them to weird magic. A lot of things would be getting mixed into a child born of Darkmoon and Katrina. Maybe two steps back wouldn't be sufficient enough in this case.
