Well if the prince is going to be there. Then your going to want someone there to keep the fey from trying anything with him.

In a very real case, the prince will need a guard to keep them from trying to get at the queen through him.

I'm just not sure if Max is the right choice because of that long standing grudge with the first fey he meet. That may draw to much attention to the prince's general area.
