Given the look on his poor mug when he heard that Sissy was getting married, and the dramatic zoom in to close up on the ring box, I'd say it's fairly safe to assume that he has a thing for Sissy, and is now heartbroken.  How they could work together and he not know about the engagement is beyond me, considering how vocal she is.

Though hearing about someone else's wedding would probably give anyone pause to think about their own plans.
