To the World Wide Web. 15 years ago, on August 6th 1991, Tim Berners Lee posted a message to the alt.hypertext discussion group about his work on WWW project which aimed to "allow links to be made to any information, anywhere". The rest, as they say, was history.

August 6 1991 – Tim Berners-Lee releases first web software
November 5 1992 – 26 web servers online
April 30 1993- WWW can be used for free by anyone
November 3 1993 – First webcam goes online
February 3 1994 - Yahoo written by two students goes online
October 13, 1994 – Bill Clinton puts whitehouse.gov on the web
August 7 1995 – There are now 18,957 websites online
August 9, 1995- Dot com boom begins at NYSE
July 4, 1996 – Hotmail launched and becomes instant hit
August 7, 1996 – There are now 342,081 websites online
Sept 15, 1998 – Google opens its first office in a garage in California
October 19, 1998 – "Open diary", the first Blog committee launched
August 16, 1999 – "Everquest" – the first online multiplayer game launched
February 7, 2000 – 8 websites hacked for the first time
January 11, 2001 – First podcasting
November 22, 2001- Pope John Paul II sends first papal e mail
April 28, 2003- A music download service launched
February 5, 2005 – Janet Jackson wardrobe malfunction becomes most searched images in cyber history
October 10, 2005 – 17 million new sites go online
April 12, 2006 – Google launches restricted service in China called "Gu Ge"
August 1, 2006 – There are now 92,615,3662 websites online ................and counting
