The Real Myth of Sisyphus:
The itsy-bitsy spider went up the water spout,
Down came the rain and washed the spider out.
Out came the sun and dried up all the rain,
And the itsy-bitsy spider went up the spout again...

The implication is that the movie is so horrible that it killed all future attempts to make comic to movie translations.

King Of Hearts

The guy on the faux Veidt pic is Alan Moore, the snake-deity-worshiping-practicing-magician-looks-like-a-hobo-genius-writer of Watchmen.

He has a very, Very, VERY bad relationship with Hollywood, especially on how they translate his stories into film [Seriously, read From Hell, League of extraordinary gentlemen, and V for Vendetta then compare it to the movies] And is very adamant on how his stories really don't work as movies as he wrote them specifically for the comics medium.

I think this would be a good read in relation to it.
